  1. They are very different as Ali pointed out. Apart from that, the Simple has a more oldschool geometry - a lower bb rise for starters. The 2011 and 2012 Colour frames seem to differ only in sticker design, the rest of the frame is identical. edit: Geometry if the Simple appears to be: 995/350/60/600 with the new urban forks
  2. This is the result of Echo pursuing the perfect chain line and combining it with very low frames. If it's got a full Echo drivetrain then I'd recommend wrapping the upper chainstay with an inner tube. There's about 3mm clearance between the chain and the top tube but since the chain moves sideways it hits the tube constantly. Maintaining a high chain tension will also help. Changing chains won't if you want to install a chain of similar strength. The K810 is around 7mm wide, the Z610HX is only .1mm narrower. If the inner tube doesn't help, the only proper way out is to change the hub. A Trialtech hub will solve the problem, especially if run with an Echo TR cog.
  3. Nah, taking off at an angle is really really gay. Get your body moving first and use the drivetrain to help the bike follow you. It's all about timing. And press the bike into the obstacle before you jump, compressing the rear tyre will give you a big boost.
  4. Chain tugs could be difficult and would require some severe modification to work but I'd start with that.

    Karma

Think how massive the universe is. I don't find it at all surprising that life has come to be. As Monkey has pointed out (I think), life isn't anything more than a complex combination of molecules and an evolutionary process. And given the size of the universe, it's bound to happen somewhere and possibly in millions of other places as well. I believe that the probability there are more humans in the universe closely resembling us is very probable, after all what we accomplish now is very much the result of us being physically able to use tools and also having brains capable of logical thought. This sort of brings me onto karma. There are so many things happening around us every day that the probability of an event taking place that appears to be the result of a previous unrelated event is pretty high. Like the story posted by the OP, helped an old lady across the street, won 500 quid later on. I'm fairly sure that even if he didn't help the old lady across the street, he still would have won. Another example - left a generous tip at the restaurant and got laid later that day. Not the result of a generous tip. It's because your girlfriend wanted to have sex with you, and you didn't oppose.
  6. Your options would depend on what the dropouts look like.
  7. And then they fall out. Thick grease will help or a dab of paint on the thread.
  8. I'm so sorry Used to ride 17:16 with 158mm cranks, recently changed over to 17:15 with 160mm and I'm really happy with it. Really don't like long cranks, they feel like walking through a marsh in wellingtons filled with concrete.
  9. It depends on the chain. From my experience with building these bikes up you ideally need a split link because the chain is too tight to get onto the freewheel/cog in one piece. Therefore, you need to get the chain onto the chainrings before linking it. This is where the split link comes in handy. I actually used a Z610HX chain on one of these frames with a 18:14 ratio a few days ago and it was difficult to get on but managed it finally. As mentioned above, this was linked with the chain already on the cogs. Otherwise it would have been impossible. The only scenario where a half link is needed from my experience is if you encounter tyre clearance issues. This can happen with a High Roller 2.50" tyre which will rub against the top tube.
  10. I'd have preferred if the pictures were a bit larger but good looking bike none the less.
  11. What is this front brake? Magura?
  12. Don't know why I love this tune so much.
  13. That's a very recent video though, around 2008. Good thread, this isn't my favourite but might as well contribute:
  14. I heard they were considering an ultra final intended for radio broadcast where the top 2 riders accelerate down a small ramp and then jump off their bikes. Whoever's bike rolls the farthest is the winner of the championship. It seems they scrapped that idea in favour of the super final.
  15. Pinch gap Lower front wheel more Gap with your body rather than punching the the drivetrain as hard as possible Get your timing correct - start jumping forwards with the wheel locked, then kick
  16. This is an interesting point and it's going to happen unfortunately. It's the case with any new big thing - at the start there are no regulations, as it starts to grow and become more popular more regulations are enforced right up until someone gets prosecuted for the first time ever for committing a - let's say online - offence. I'd say it's a bit like when cars first came about. There were no drivers licenses, no drink-drive laws, no regulations about how fast you could go. You could build something in your shed and drive it. Now every aspect of motoring is regulated (not saying it's a bad thing). I don't think it'll ever be as extreme as social networking being monitored for inappropriate content.
  17. Came in here to post that Personally I don't think it's going to happen.
  18. Really liked the idea of it being somewhat of a continuous line. Definitely stands out from the usual self filmed pallet videos.
  19. That was amazing. If I can only point out one little thing, the video and audio ended too suddenly. Perhaps have it fade away for longer? The video made me so relaxed, the ending was too quick for the overall pace of the video.
  20. Thought about that actually but couldn't word it properly. Imagine how long his facial hair must be now.
  21. I think Tim has moved on with his life and is no longer waiting for a reply. It's been 3,5 years after all. But who knows?
  22. I love some of those obstacles. They resemble natural in a way, lots of different ways to approach each one.
  23. Does anyone else on here find that rim brake pads don't need running in for longer than a few minutes? That is of course if they are hitting square on the rim.
