^^not true^^ lol and i don't think thats what he asked either. anyhoo a freehub is a hub(obviously) with a ratchet and pawl mechanism built into it so you can roll along without the chain moving, eg hopes or profiles. a fixed hub is a hub with thread/casette (spline?) that doesn't rotate in the hub, so you have to run a front freewheel or rear freewheel.

I ride a python (ferking lovely to) bit wierd not having a bashplate though. New cranks and possibly a new bottom bracket? You could go isis bottom bracket and get some new cranks to boot since everything else on your bike's prety damn good, or you could put cash towards a better frame?
