  1. i always thought maher was pronounced may-er, learn something every day...
  2. they're excellent, i think the vee mounts make for a better bike too... if you know trials is something you want, and more specifically, the streety type of trials, then go for it! if your wanting a more hop-py kinda style consider something else... the element is awesome value, it doesn't need immediate upgrading which is a massive bonus...
  3. http://www.azcentral.com/news/azliving/articles/2012/07/13/20120713bikers-against-child-abuse-make-abuse-victims-feel-safe.html?page=1 one of the best reads on the internet...
  4. make sure everything is tight, the rotor bolts, the disc brake caliper, and the hub, if your not fantastic or familiar with bike maintenance it could be worth going to an lbs and asking them to service it and talk you through what they are doing as they go... while trials bikes are relatively simple it's important to make sure everything is running right or you'll be breaking stuff all the time...
  5. i havent used an SL but have owned an eno and am running a TT on my 20"... eno is the best one, cause it's got a sealed bearing and i never had mine skip... my TT one has skipped a few times but i do trust it as it seems to skip when i'm setting up/moving around, not when i'm putting the power down... couldn't work out how to open/service the TT but the eno is a doddle to service, although the lockring is a pig to get back on sometimes...

    # weight loss takes time, ignore the scales, the mirror was my prefered measure of improvement... i was burning 1K in calories (according to the machines) 5 days a week for about a month while using a diet suppliment kit, i dunno if it was a placebo or a mix of everything, but just stick at it, and keep that standard going.... the readings aren't accurate, but they are still useful, as the calories used is based on the wattage needed to match your output, but your actual calorie consumption will vary based on your fitness and how often you do that type of exercise, always mix it up, don't stick to one machine, use 3-4 different ones with a goal of so many calories on each, it breaks up the monotiny and ensures different muscles are used...

  9. can you pull up on that austin? a local rider has one and we couldn't do rolling ups on it all all, just a pure pogo machine it is haha. looks smart though!
  10. with regards to setting up your vee brake... loosen a pad, clamp the brake lever, tighten the pad back up. repeat for the other side. this will square your pads to the rim. there will be a small bolt/screw near the base of each vee arm, this adjusts the tension on the spring for each arm, so if one pad is closer to the rim that the other, adjust the tension to center the wheel/pads. be sure to check the bolts holding the calipers are tight as they can occasionally waggle loose. on your brake levers there will be a bolt that can adjust the lever blade angle, as you tighten it it will push the lever closer to the bars, it's worth playing with it and finding a comfy point so you can happily rest your finger on it all day long. also there will be a barrel adjuster that lets you tension the cable to reduce the amount of pull you have. try and learn to use 1 finger on each lever, not 2! as you will have better grip on the bars and more control main thing is to buy some performance pads, heatsinks, TNN and Phatpads are all excellent; as you learn to do rear wheel moves you'll find the standard pads will slip and slide a bit, these pro pads will hold and help your confidence... you can also buy a brake booster, which is a metal horse-shoe shaped device that is clamped onto the brake to reduce flex and improve performance. while i'm at it, you might wanna consider a trials freewheel if your rig doesn't already have one.. if you spin your cranks backwards you'll either hear an agressive and frequent click, or a quiet, less frequent click (hard to explain sounds with words...) you really want a trials specific freewheel, as they deal with the strain of trials far better to generic freewheels that are sometimes shipped with some bikes... it'll make your riding alot more enjoyable and help your progression massively...
  11. it is no different to any other bikes drivetrain, you'll just feel the engagement more or less immediately compared to cheaper set-ups. the advantage from it being up front is that it brings the weight to the centre of the bike, a wheel with a freehub is heavier than a fixed wheel, since the hub is more complex... making the bike a bit more manageable. you really need to ride a bad trials bike to appreciate a good one haha
  12. you wanna work out the type of rig you're after before you plow into buying anything, see what the locals are using. whats your budget, do you want full suspension, or just front suspension...
  13. with regards to the bike enhancing your abilities, yes it can and will with very good technique... the chainstay provides extra leverage and your whole upper body will work to move it this way, it's like having an extra section in your leg... front freewheel is wierd at first, when rolling along your chain will always move... and you can rotate your cranks backward and the chain is stationary, it's novel for a while...
  14. i can't read the geo on the frame picture on the home page... after a while the top logo hurts my eyes too... products + services seem very interesting though...
  15. thanks to your huge front rotor.... you shouldn't need to face your mounts with bb7s, replacing the bolts and washers will help improve the situation dramatically...
  16. i never gave it any thought, and i have a new found dislike for lazy f**ks who are lazy through choice. but it's not a quality i've ever admired, i've just noticed it in her more because i've got the time to pay attention to things more... and it'll continue to annoy me when i'm mobile now i'm aware of it...
  17. she's pretty good on the nursing thing front, and i'll make the other point the tf perves are wondering, yes you can deliver when you've got a cast on...
  18. my girls is getting fat, and she does nothing, not just in the sence of no effort to be less fat, but she does f**k all and i find it really annoying and a bit pathetic, since it means she just wants all my time to make up for her lack of interests and stuff, i've told her to get a hobby/do something and she just gets offended by it, i've been with her nearly 2 years and we're off on holiday soon, but i'm starting to doubt the whole scenario... kicker is is that usually her lack of shit to do is fine when i want to do my thing she totally allows it, but i'm in bed all day with a broken leg, so i can't ride or do all the other fun stuff i usually do, she prety much won all her brownie points by no interfering with my lifestyle and being a bit filthy, in my current situaution she isn't playing to her strengths, help?
  19. i don't know, i'll probably try it all out...
  20. awesome, post up some pics when it arives!
  21. do you have any other options for buying a bike from?
  22. i have no idea, what ever fish there are in the local waters in france... i will clarify: i know nothing about fishing, or fish, just give me the absolute novice treatment
  23. i would be happy to pay a small amount for small ones, i appreciate TF enough to donate some wonga and get some stickers...
  24. hey, i'm off to france in a few weeks and since you don't need a license to fish there and i acquired one of these for free, with a few other bits thrown in for free, i thought i'd give it a go. so if anyone else fishes, i'd love to know what gear i may benefit from requiring or any useful resources, i'll post a picture of everything i have tomorow to clear up exactly what it is, but any advice would be greatly appreciated, also the rod+all equipment will be for sale in early september if i don't enjoy it, so if you're interested...
