  1. old phones amuse me, my gf hasn't had a phone for nearly 6 months, so we've learned to organize and plan and create contingency plans for everything so that we're always covered, f**king huge ball ache though...

    Stuff To Do...

hey yall, on monday evening i broke my fibula when out riding, i'm in a cast for six weeks and ligament damage suggests that i'll be off the bike for a while and housebound. so suggestions for shit to kill time with are welcome, so bored =/
  3. front disc is always useful, there's a weight penalty and the brake is a little bit more vulnerable to damage, but you get excellent pad life out of a disc, you won't have to honk to a stop every time you ride somewhere else... maguras are lighter with the right pads you can get proportion and lock-out, i'd imagine it's harder to smash up a front magura but i havent owned a bike without a front disc since 2006. if you can afford a disc, it's worth having one, if you're on a budget, consider the "circus monkey" hubs on ebay, they're re-branded rockman hubs at a much lower cost... and BB7s are incredible value and give the hydraulic discs a serious run for their money...
  4. check them regularly for cracks, i've had 2 pairs snap on me, the ZHI ones are good.
  5. sl forks are stupidly weak, get urbans, they're a bit heavier but alot stronger... get an SL freewheel, or some other 108ep device, shit's awesome! don't worry about weight to much, lighter BB like the trial tech sport is a good mid price, high weight saving but strong bb.. maybe invest in some equipment to improve your own strength... i hear squats and deadlifts make you a monster...
  6. i see your from gainsborough, i hope you've met wiggy or andy or jake? don't worry about pedal hoping, you wanna practice rolling up stuff, balancing and controlling the bike, it's all important...
  7. i fit my headset by losely fitting it by hand and twating the headtube downwards... but it's not the safest method. if you can, use a vice and 2 peices of wood, press in once cup at a time, making sure they are square, thats the best way without making a tool, otherwise a long length of threaded bar will work as mentioned above... be sure you're existing headset is compatible too

  13. ideally have a play with a few bikes, it's uncommon for riders to go back to a 20" after riding a 26", watson and tunnicliffe should prove stocks are great for going big. learning to go big is a combination of rider's power and solid grasp of technique. whats the spec like on your 26", the mad phases are fairly neutral geometry, you might want to consider a different frame with a more TGS geometry... at this point i'll add i rode 20" for 2 years, then stock for a couple of years, and i've been on a 24" exclusively for just over a year now and i'm wanting to pick up a 20" cause i had a go on a new echo lite and could ride it better than any bike i've used before. if you've not been riding that long you'll find progression slow irregardless of wheel size... but if you've got the basics on a 26" you should be good to carry on...
  14. on the non broken one yes, but you can't polish a turd...
  15. i'm still riding pushing past 6 years now, on the 24" bandwagon but i wanna pick up a 20" cause i found out i have a knack for riding them and they're such a huge contrast to the 24" i'm on..
  16. pro2s are still being used, as are middleburns, although the 108 click freewheels are better, probably don't last as long though..
  17. short notice but if you wanna join us in lincoln your welcome pm me for mobile number

    Hope Pro 2

werd with what manuel said, 48ep is so good, any less feels like a violation, i've tried a bike with the original XC pro2 and it felt pretty lacking, but i'm a heavy guy and i do put a fair shunt through my gear, it depends what type of riding you plan on doing too i guess, if your gona be using alot of static moves, sidehops, pedal hops, etc then you'll be much happier with the trials dedicated one, but if you're all about rolling and flowing you could probably get away with it...
  19. it should be a standard size... go to your lbs and ask if you can try a few sizes there?
  20. http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=42&products_id=352 have a big link, there whole range: http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/index.php?cPath=42 i really like my superstar pedals, mine're still very smooth after 2 years of my best riding to date, and in that time frame i've snapped 2 frames and a middleburn!
  21. also they're customer service is a bit poor, they used to offer half price replacements on frames, winner, but it's no longer easy to get a replacement...
  22. superstar pedals have a 2 year warrenty these are on sale (click the t) cant go wrong for 22quid with sealed bearings...
