  1. Ahoy. Got Ad-Aware, Spybot, and Norton Anti-Virus. It's detecting the same few ad-ware things ever time, but it can never delete the select few. Are there any uber powerful ad-aware-style things out that won't take no shit from my crappy ad-ware? Cheers for any help, Mark
  2. Hmm. From some wheels I've done, that's not always a great way of working out tension, just because there might be some imperfection in the spoke/nipple so it'll bind instead of turning well and so on. Since I've started doing wheels myself I've just totally stopped really caring about the fact that some of my spokes are looser than others. Used to really piss me off, but now I just know that that's the way it is, basically.
  3. My Monty foams wore so thin they tore in a matter of hours. My next set lasted for about the same time (weirdly enough, my first ever pair I bought ages ago lasted for a year and a half. Go figure). The Halfords stuff is so soft it feels like it's moving, and then it tears because it is soft and it is moving. Roadie tape didn't do anything for me except slip off and go wrong. Renthal ATV grips are f**king awesome. A *tiny* bit thicker than Monty foam grips, softer to hold onto, yet mine are showing literally no signs of wear after 3 months use. They're really, really amazing grips. I've tried so many of the f**kers that I could almost be considered a grip connosieur, and these Renthals are just... amazing. £6-7, I believe. Order 'em in soft. They're made for ATV's where the people generally have some burly gloves on, so they're not 24seven mod grip "lighter than air" soft. Really, really good...
  4. I always find it easier just to do the thumbs up thing. Right hand in :P position. Thumb shows direction of movement of nipple, fingers show direction to turn in. Sounds complicated, but when you're holding the spoke key if you're right handed like me it's super quick just to check, and a load easier on your brain than working out which way is which :P
  5. What part of YOU WEREN'T f**kING THERE IN THAT SITUATION don't you understand? It's all well and good being all hard on the internet, but for f**ks sake, why are you bothering? This guy's just taken a hit to the face for no reason, so why are you just talking crap? It makes no sense... Anyway, hope it heals up pretty quickly and doesn't leave some crappy scar or anything. Sucks it happened :P
  6. That T-shirt's awesome, although I'd never leave the house with it on (Y)
  7. Too hyped on Heroes (got 'em for fixing next door neighbour's bike. I'm awesome (Y)). Ah well. I've written a CV. Go team. http://mako.cc/copyrighteous/images/emu.jpg Most "Emo" emu wins a prize. Go nuts. Like one of the Boeing's on 11/9, this thread be hijacked.
  8. Flatland just takes more watching. Like if you really look at what they do, you can see all the different links and so on. Park/dirt/street is like easy listening, but flatland's like prog rock (Y)
  9. In yer face, Tipple (Y)" Note filename, if you will (Y)
  10. I found this topic 100x more interesting by imagining it said "emu's" wherever it said "emo". e.g. Oh the fun.
  11. Chase Gouin's section. Smooth, flowing, brakeless flatland. Awesome (Y)
  12. Oh you asses (Y) Aitken's section IS on there, that's the dirt jumps w/halfpipe bit and the huge 180's over the pyramid majigger. The bit by 10:40 is the start of the Extras section...
  13. Aitken's section doesn't show up? Gay! I'll try and sort that out :">
  14. It's also possible to just have the other end going into the bleed pot type thing, then cover the outlet end of the tube with your finger when you refill the syringe. Or just try and do it all in a bucket. Easy peasy!
  15. Mine did once. I just check it every now and again, but all seems well :shifty: If you need to strip it down, don't worry, it's all amazingly well made inside so no pawls, bearings or springs are gonna launch into your eyes or anything.

    24"

There are no budget 24" frames. You're looking at £350+ for your frame. That's pretty much the only difference money wise. That, and rims and tyres and so on are slightly more limited.
  17. 245"? You're even beating Gary Fisher's 29"ers with that B) Right: King BMX hubs won't fit in the majority of 24" frames, unless you specifically ask for BMX hub spacing on a custom Curtis (maybe Leeson too?) frame. King BMX hubs are 110mm wide, like mod hubs, but stock/mtb hubs are 135mm wide. So yeah, basically, you'd have to splay your frame out half an inch either side. Good luck with that one :shifty: There aren't any cheap 24" frames at the moment, which is gay. You're looking at £350-ish+ for every frame, unless you buy second hand. Mitch has got a full 24" bike up for sale for £400 incl. a free paint job, but that's one of the few I've seen. Sucks to be in the "Want a 24"" club :D
  18. Oh you :"> Got the Orchid vid too, which is pretty damn funtabulous :shifty:
  19. Hey ho, Awesome vid here for you all. It features Martti Kuopa (can't remember spelling...), Gary Young, Jimmy Levan and Mike Aitken. It's their rider sections from the Odyssey Video, and it's well worth a look. Kuopa's flatland stuff is ridiculously smooth yet tech, Gary Young's section is just pretty damn good, Jimmy Levan's section surprised me in that it was better than I thought it'd be, and Mike Aitken's section's just damn good to watch :D Enjoy :shifty: Mark
  20. Er, Nick, the Eno I have currently on my bike came from James Lim on here, who I happened to find out was selling one by asking on here. I saved £25-ish from the RRP, just by asking on here. Just saying 'n' stuff. Anyhoo, there are a few 'mainstream' shops doing them, but I know there are a few members on here who are doing 'em cheap. Sorry I can't be more help - try searching in the For Sale section *shrugs* Anyhoo, my riding's gone a HELL of a lot better since I got mine. *Way* more confidence for everything, pretty much, just 'cos I know that it's a safe product. It's skipped 3 or 4 times in the time I've had it, and because of the speed of the engagement of it, it's just gone straight to the next pawl and I've still made the gaps/drops. If you just clean the thick grease out of it after the second week or so you have it (or when it goes quieter, as a rough rule) that oozes out of the sealed bearings, they just work super well :shifty:

    A Rear Der.

Yeah, same as Deng. They've both got some pretty underhand business techniques that are super good at getting them loads of money. They're just really good businessmen. We know that Deng is a shady b*****d, yet everyone buys into the ZOO!/Echo/GU thing. *sigh*
  22. Even if you don't like the look of a helmet, try it on at least just to get an idea for what size you might need. Every company has a different average head size they make helmets for, so they'll all fit different even if one's Met's 58-62cm and the Giro one's 58-62cm or whatever. But yeah, just try stuff on. DON'T BUY ANYTHING THAT DOESN'T FIT! Regarding the ACS Claw, Locktite Threadlock would work. Alternatively, ANY glue will work - it just needs to basically sit in the threads and provide something to stop the lockring from being shaken free from vibrations and from the small amount of force that the rotation of the freewheel will exert. Even putting some paint around the edge of lockring near the threads and onto the threads of the main part of the freewheel. It just provides some resistance so it should be sorted then :shifty: Make sure you clean all grease/lube from the threads pre-glueing :D
