Not just Dave who's had shit luck with the Echo rims. Trials is harsh, but shit rims are still shit rims, no?

Is the starnut slipping up inside the steerer tube? Is it a new headset? Is there enough for the top-cap to not foul on the top of the steerer tube? (Y)

That won't f**k anything, as the pressure is still being applied in the same place as if you cut it down. It'd only put a *little* more pressure on if you had those spacers UNDER your stem. However, other than that, you're rosy (Y)

I've got quite a few Magura levers in Mark's Magical Magura Bag. All of them have snapped there, from downhill usage. Anyway, if it's cracked there, eventually it'll just snap as you pull the lever or put force through it, meaning the lever will launch out and you'll have no brake power. This isn't shit hot. Try www.chainreactioncycles.com and see if they can help you out with anything, I believe they do Magura spares.

Hey people, I'm done with my Weetabix challenge and I'm bored. Something about the space shuttle mission ahving landed in some other place than it should meaning it's gonna cost 'em £500K to drive it back across part of America got me thinking about space travel 'n' shit like that. I was just wondering what people's thoughts on it were? Reply or die. I could put some kinda "If you don't reply to this thread in the next 5 minutes your crush will die" or something, but nah.

This'll make you feel cool: My 46-year-old Mum's just done her second Ron Haslam Race School session at Donington (Y) Proof: She did it on one of the 125's 'cos she's short as hell (hence baggy leathers, and gaffa-taped-tight boots :D)...

That'll be those chuffing big bunnyhops, eh James? (Y) Nah, it sucks it broke. One of the nicest bikes I've seen, and I know you digged riding it. Just get Leeson to make you one with the same geo, should be peachy :D How long before someone tells you to claim on warranty?

They don't do triple clamps with less than 5" travel (from what I can remember?), which is basically more than *any* dirt frame will be made to deal with. Typically, they're going to be made with geometry to suit a 4" travel ish fork (100-120mm or so), so putting tripleclamps on there will make the head angle slack (more on that later (Y)), and will raise the BB and so on, making it typically feel worse, with the excess weight on the front too. The main problem is just strength, regarding your frame. The head angle's slacker, so the force is put into it in a way different to how it was supposed to be. Slacker head angle means the head-tube's more likely to rip off if you land harsh fairly frequently. Also, the down and top-tubes on jump frames probably won't be ultra thick, so getting mashed by the fork legs when, say, you fall off, will eventually just bugger it all up. Dents = stress increase on weld. Not ideal. Someone round here had 6" travel triple clamps on a little Brand X-style jump frame. Worst bike ever.

When people need stepladders to reach their BB's to change them, I think you'll find (Y)

Does anyone make a lighter rim to copy? (Y) Anyone know how wide DX-32's are? 38mm, are they?

Haha, yeah, mine was like that... FallGuy forks (w/spacer under stem), T-Master stem, Pazzaz CF risers. Front end approx. higher than a transit. Felt soooooooo good though, won't *ever* go back to the low front end shit no matter how cool it comes/how much I get shouted at for not being UCI or what-the-f**k-ever :( Should ride nice. Probably take a few days to get used to backwheeling after the T-Pro (I believe you had before?). Back ends a bit shorter, so it feels like you're looping out more. Then, it'll feel absolutely perfect, but you'll have already sorted out someone who's having the frame off you, then it'll feel even better, then you'll be posting it away (Y) *sigh*

Been away for a few days riding, so I haven't seen this until now. 1. Why post "All comments welcome" when they're not. Lee, not saying this is just you, but loads of people put that, then at the merest hint of criticism people shit the bed. It's not needed. If you don't want people to comment on it, don't put stuff like that. 2. Saying things like "I don't like you and I know _______ doesn't either" doesn't mean shit. It's potentially the most childish thing you can actually come up with, apart from the bilge that Luke seems to be able to produce (hence the warning, by the way Luke (Y)). It makes you look bad for saying it, and it's just not really helping anything at all. Everyone has a different opinion about stuff. If someone's opinion is contrary to your own, and you can't point out the differences in a civilised way, we don't need people like that. This isn't just at Lee again, it just happens to be in this thread: it applies to the whole forum.

Big beef joints are where it's at in Chez Mark :P Anyway, yeah, should probably leave this...

Good call, Luke. If it makes you feel any better, I'm on now 'cos I'm talking to Rich on MSN about getting a Lasek helmet from America, waiting for my dinner to cook (which it just has, score), then I'm going out riding. We cool? \o/

Holy f**k, a difference of opinion. God, no.

Saying that, a friend of mine had a downhill bike with a twin-ring + bashring setup up front, and if you put it in a fairly spinny gear, you could have some awesome fun doing some moto-trials-esque stuff on it :D

It just didn't really do much for me, I'm afraid. The music wasn't really my sort of thing, but the whole video just didn't really "work". It was just too much like CLS's vids, but the riding was smaller. I'm not saying you're shit or anything before anyone says I'm jealous or anything like that, it's just that you're basically copying all of CLS's style moves there, but not doing them as big. Comparisons are going to happen. I think it'd just be better if you tried something different. Just like a different technique or something a bit more tech or something than just "gap drop gap drop", etc. There's so much more possible on a trials bike that just closing yourself off into just doing those moves is kinda pointless. Each to their own I suppose. Oh, and just to stop any blow-back like Nick got, "imo" and all that shit...

Just in case anyone's wondering, blue pallets are supposed to be 6.5" tall, so you can use that as a rough guide to how high you're getting. 6 = 39" 7 = 45.5" 8 = 52" etc.

What seat's that, Matt? How's it holding up?

The thicker the grease the slower the pawls will return, basically. That's why it's best to have it as a thinner grease. Is it quite quiet now? -

Er, if it's skipping, why weld it? Just strip it, clean it, super light lube in it (or run it dry), make sure the threads are clean, get some REAL locktite glue (any superglue or threadlock will do it, pretty much), then tighten the lockring. That way, you'll have a freewheel that'll work til it shits it's load again, and a lockring that'll stay tightened up. Once glued, leave to dry, don't just ride...
