I must say dave, I'm really glad you've got to the bottom of this whole world conspiracy thing. It must be going well for you cos you've been banging on about it for 5 years now to a very small bike forum of about 30 active users in here. Definitely going places mate.

I knew you'd say that haha

Yeah, I started to dislike the side plate in the end. It was only there for the holes in the front to aid cooling as I thought I was going to have significant over heating issues but as it was cool as a cucumber I'm happy to retain the original location.

So i've finally machine polished Boris. Really happy with the results, I only gave it a heavy cut on a medium pad and didn't go around everywhere with the super finishing stuff from mezermemeeme as honestly it bored the absolute tits off me. But the results look good none the less I think. I need to go over the black trim tomorrow, and put a few coats of wax on too. 20171231_140157 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171231_151701 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171231_164819 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171231_164832 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171231_164842 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171231_164859_HDR by dann2707, on Flickr I'm not sure what my phone decided to do here but it certainly looks shiny haha. I've restuck the 3/4 plate on the front too as I prefer the look of it. 20171231_164911 by dann2707, on Flickr Headlights look clear again, i've ordered some clear film wrap stuff to go over it so they don't fade again. 20171231_165947 by dann2707, on Flickr

What a film. One of my favourites. Makes you think eh

Ending year 2017 with three cars woops. Just bought a corsa C 1.2 16v with 44k miles on in great condition for £90 from my mate. Needs a handbrake cable and water pump gasket but other than that it's good to go.

Prague is great. Went there from Budapest a few years back. There's like am underground cocktail place there and it's amazing. I've forgotten its name, something angels

Thanks guys, means a lot! Another small update from today.. I removed the intake pipe as I wanted to insulate it with some heat wrap I had, due to the header tank and catch can still resting fairly close to it. 20171210_141213 by dann2707, on Flickr Then all wrapped and secured. Easiest way to do this is to apply it wet then when it dries it nicely tightens against the pipe. 20171210_142610 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171210_143345 by dann2707, on Flickr My engine mount bolts always looked a bit manky so I wanted to clean them up a bit with the wire wool attachment on the drill... Before: 20171210_143357 by dann2707, on Flickr After on the right 20171210_143403 by dann2707, on Flickr Done 20171210_160544 by dann2707, on Flickr Another little job that was on my mind, when I had to jump start the car before the jump leads wouldn't clip onto the battery terminals as it was such a small little m5 bolt head so I made an extension using a longer m5 bolt as below: 20171210_151807 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171210_151812 by dann2707, on Flickr Now it clips on and stays on 20171210_151853 by dann2707, on Flickr Whilst I was doing that the heatwrap had dried so refitted it into the engine bay and also used the last bit of nimbus I had to act as a guard to the left of the filter. It probably won't do much but every little helps. 20171210_160446 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171210_160457 by dann2707, on Flickr I've also connected one of my foglight ducts up to act as an air feed to the filter. 20171210_160507 by dann2707, on Flickr Desperately needs a clean under the arch haha 20171210_160526 by dann2707, on Flickr I finally took one of my wheels to the bathroom to locate a slow puncture, turns out the valve is leaking every so slightly where it's seated against the rim. The below method, as expected, works very well! 20171210_163935 by dann2707, on Flickr

Cheers Danny. Unfortunately not due to where the turbo is on the meg engine, sticks out straight over the engine it's a truly hateful design. In a way I like it though as it differentiates my engine from all the "standard" turboed clio 172/182s where the turbo comes out to the right of the engine. #hipster hahaha. I need a custom exhaust now which is on the cards for the new year, then an mot but other than that yeah man.

LA UPDATE TIME. Can't even begin to stress how much i'm getting into the swing of things now. Loving it so much, the garage trophy that I used to tut and walk past each time I went to washing machine is now actually coming back into my life haha. I'm not 100% sure on the timescale but i'll pretend it went like this. Last week I did some claying... I haven't polished anything yet as I really want to get a DA and do it properly. I can't justify spending all that money on one though. Anyway Boris looks shiny now pre-polishing 20171209_201716 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171209_201724 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171209_201733 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171204_214202 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171204_214153 by dann2707, on Flickr Then tonight i've secured my heatshield at the back properly and also used the smaller excess I had to create the ultimate turbo coverer upper aka turbo heatshield. Looks a bit blingy now but it's doing a job and i'm mega happy with it. No flash 20171209_185254 by dann2707, on Flickr Flash 20171209_191113 by dann2707, on Flickr I spontaneously decided to move the air filter. Can't stress how much happier I am with where it is now. Especially as I can happily run an air feed from the fog light duct up there now. Before (its sucking up alllllllllllllllllllllllll the heat from the oil catch can and the coolant header overflow) 20171209_191125 by dann2707, on Flickr After, had to move the ecu by flipping it over on it's bracket. No biggy 20171209_200336 by dann2707, on Flickr Then heres an absolute tornado of pics cos I think it looks super sexy now haha 20171209_200357 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171209_200406 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171209_200457 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171209_200526 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171209_200552 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171209_201412 by dann2707, on Flickr It's also worth noting that next year i'll have had Boris for 4 years which is absolutely mental. I've never held on to a car for that long ever, what a journey it's been. Here's some pictures from when I first got him... Who knew what this would have turned into... Cheers x

Another day another update. I had some issues with my fuel needle not displaying correctly as per the below picture: 20171126_144413 by dann2707, on Flickr I remember going on the road trip and being massively disappointed with the rate the fuel needle was going down compared to my friends in their n/a clios but as it turns out my needle was just way off haha Sorted that by removing the clocks and taking the needle off and putting it where it should be.. Nice easy fix. 20171129_164735 by dann2707, on Flickr So the past few days has had me re-routing the fuel lines which I never put on here. I've used some black P-clips to route the lines as neatly as possible. The original fuel line clips were too small so didn't allow this fuel line to be clipped in. Before 20171128_123933 by dann2707, on Flickr Afters 20171128_124925 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171128_124945 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171128_130522 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171128_130529 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171128_130536 by dann2707, on Flickr Fitted a fuel filter too as that arrived. Nice and neat behind the boost pipe. 20171128_141633 by dann2707, on Flickr I was then ready to put the bumper back on which is always a good sign 20171128_141506 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171128_141656 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171128_144522 by dann2707, on Flickr Then on to today, I received some goodies in the form of vacuum lines for the FPR and for the brake servo. Along with something shiny.... 20171129_131056 by dann2707, on Flickr Two lots of nimbus which I got at an absolute steal of a price 20171129_131621 by dann2707, on Flickr Vac line from the servo in my left hand along with the Tpiece to the FPR 20171129_133041 by dann2707, on Flickr I then started mocking up where the Nimbus is going 20171129_144906 by dann2707, on Flickr A few bends later 20171129_153536 by dann2707, on Flickr Needs properly fixing in place but you get the idea of where its going and what it's protecting. 20171129_154259 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171129_154304 by dann2707, on Flickr I already have an idea of what i'm going to do with the smaller bit and it involves making a heat shield for the turbo as there are loads of bolt holes around it where the original heatshield used to be on the meg engine Suffice to say I genuinely think it looks f**king ace back there and really makes the engine bay a bit nicer! 20171129_164703 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171129_164709 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171129_170759 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171129_170802 by dann2707, on Flickr I then got the seats back in, easy peasy. 20171129_164717 by dann2707, on Flickr I sat in the car feeling pretty accomplished with the work this week knowing that I am 1000000000000000% happier with the new OEM pedal box, servo assisted brakes etc etc which was always on the back of my mind that the pedal box I had in there before just didn't feel that great for a 80/20 road/track car. Tomorrow if I get time i'll wheel it out of the garage, give it a wash and wheel it back in ready for claying and detailing it in the garage over the period of a few weeks. I want to get it as shiny as it used to be as I was looking through some old photos recently and it used to be crazy clean. Cheers.

c/p from cs.net Right then, i'm finally at a computer so I can do a fairly big-ish update or at least an update that has encapsulated the last few weeks of working on Boris. I've been really enjoying it again and having a heated garage has made a whole world of difference to my mood. I would never have been able to do any of this if I was at the side of the road so i'm lucky in that sense. Firstly, the accelerator cable from the ph1 is now all in and connected however due to not having any carpet in the car the pedal could quite easily be overstretched which would snap the pedal so with a trusty m8 bolt and nut I now have a stop. Luckily that rivnut was already there from the pedal box. You'll probably notice that there is infact a gaping hole in my floor too hahah, that needs welding over a bit. 20171120_204020 by dann2707, on Flickr Random shot of the new wheel which I don't think I ever pictured despite it being 4 months ago or so. Really happy with the interior now. 20171120_205507 by dann2707, on Flickr With the flash on, andddddddddd the wheel looks knackered already and it hasn't seen a single mile on the road haha 20171120_205519 by dann2707, on Flickr We had a vehicle show at work in summer which was brilliant, probably around 30 vehicles turned up with 2 awards available. One for most interesting and one for best in show.... 20171124_090207 by dann2707, on Flickr Well happy with that result, especially as I had completely forgotten about an award to be handed out but this was the first engineering staff meeting we had had since summer. Quite a funny moment as I didn't pick up my trophy when the award was announced and tried to go back into the room to get it but I had to wait for c. 200 people to come out first and as I was stood by the door it looked like I was waiting for everyone to congratulate me as they left which they did hahahaha. awkwardddddddddd. Moving swiftly on, fuel return line was next on the list of things to do. So I needed some pipe from the stock room ie back of my garage. 20171124_163408 by dann2707, on Flickr The hole here is where I am taking the feed from for the vacuum servo. 20171124_164221 by dann2707, on Flickr I then fitted the new rail with the 1/4 npt fitting which acts as the return for the fuel 20171124_180038 by dann2707, on Flickr As the return now protrudes where the dipstick goes I had to drill a new hole in the dipstick holder and bend the bracket a bit, coupled with a little spacer it looks OEM ish 20171126_153312 by dann2707, on Flickr I am not sure why I took this picture, there was probably some meaning behind it but I have no idea so here it is anyway. 20171124_180048 by dann2707, on Flickr I then needed to create the return line into the sender unit. So at my trusty workstation ie kitchen breakfast bar I started assembling... 20171125_145934 by dann2707, on Flickr This is a bit of fuel pipe attached to the return line, this will direct fuel back into the swirl pot. 20171125_152858 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171125_152905 by dann2707, on Flickr The next two photos show it better as to where it is now pointing, its going down the side of the fuel pump itself directly down into the collection of fuel. This means that when it returns its not being returned to anywhere in the tank, but into the swirl pot so fuel is always there. 20171125_162708 by dann2707, on Flickr May be able to see it better there, the black little tube pointing down. 20171125_163240 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171125_171337 by dann2707, on Flickr I've got an inline filter on the way that I will be fitting to the feed fuel pipe. Today's job was to fit the fuel pressure regulator. This is the jobby which I got from a saxo 8v. Runs at 3.5 bar so is absolutely perfect. My only gripe is that there is no decent mounting position for it but it's okay for now. 20171126_125125 by dann2707, on Flickr Decided to mount it here, it's just held there in this pic 20171126_125151 by dann2707, on Flickr Rivnut again to the rescue which I rivnutted to the coil pack bracket which would hold the FPR crudely. 20171126_131600 by dann2707, on Flickr FPR cable tied to that bolt then pipe work fitted. Luckily I've kept a load of fuel connectors from before so i've used them where I can, as you can see on the FPR inlet there. 20171126_134605 by dann2707, on Flickr 20171126_134611 by dann2707, on Flickr Stupidly I didn't buy enough hose, I honestly thought 5 metres would do both the feed and return but I was wrong so Ive had to order some more but in the mean time I wanted to try it all out so the return was directed into the petrol can. Turned the car onto ignition and voila. pressure was released after a little bit. 20171126_144227 by dann2707, on Flickr I then wanted to start the car with the new set up, turned it over and boom, fired straight back into life although it sounded horrendous as it had no lambda or exhaust. The former because of the latter. But overall i'm mega chuffed that it fired up despite the dicking around etc.
-
Most things plumbed in now. Brakes all bled I just require a few other little bits and bobs. Including oh you know a full exhaust system but the car turned over on the first go just yesterday. Excited.
-
I don't have time mate i've got a job...
-
So not a single person there filmed it? Or did the wacky lizards bring down those videos online???
-
How did you get it so cheap?
-
Yeah Danny, also refitted power assisted brakes back again as I absolutely hated the pedal box. So now i've fitted an ABS-delete set up from a cup. Can't wait to have a decent pedal position again, It was horrendous before. Absolutely shocking.
-
Agreed with the above. I used to love organising big group rides and knowing that the Leeds 11am granite walls meet up on a Sunday you'd always have at least a few people there. Had some incredible times but sadly it's just died down thanks to facebook and insta etc.

Progress. In the form of a few pictures. Got the engine back in. Excuse the garage mess at the moment. It is absolutely killing me seeing it in such a state. 20171104_172527 by dann2707, on Flickr Voila 20171104_180110 by dann2707, on Flickr I then started plugging everything in. 20171104_185709 by dann2707, on Flickr Now I have messed around with the box mounts some more it's raised the gearbox up which means it's clearing a lot of things. Before the engine was resting on something.. more on that later for a lol story. The engine now happily swings on it's two mounts which is excellent news. Before when dropped in it was almost wedged. So the next issue, the turbo being so close to the master cylinder. We all knew it was going to be an issue so just showing the issue in hand 20171108_203947 by dann2707, on Flickr For reference and for those wanting to do the conversion (don't) this is how far away the turbo is to the mc. New custom downpipe required 20171108_204028 by dann2707, on Flickr Plumbed more stuff in. Engine bay is looking scratty as f**k lately. Needs a clean or just to take pics without flash... 20171108_213324 by dann2707, on Flickr Finally the engine is more level now compared to what it was like before. I don't have a before pic sadly. Not to hand anyway. 20171108_213401 by dann2707, on Flickr Next things on the list: Headshield for turbo. Maybe even a turbo jacket Custom downpipe new header tank bottle o/s gearbox seal
