What are you trying to entrepreneurify?

Many things I have tried and not had the time/funds/skills to devote to them properly. At the moment it's a sort of media agency to fill a rather obvious gap in the market... just trying to set it up quick enough to not get beaten to it. It's just the time aspect of doing it, what with the full time job and training I just never seem to have the time. That's being made to change now though while I'm on my month detox!

I'm no expert, but I've done it, and it looked pretty good...

When I did the bathroom at my old place I did it by starting with a tile around half a tile from the left hand and top edges, using a spirit level to get this first tile right. Then I put another 3 tiles down around that first tile, making sure that it was straight in both ways the whole time, and then did the cuts around these into the corner… from there it was all pretty plain sailing, just making sure to get the cuts to the ceiling and corner wall right and making sure everything is straight the whole time with a pencil line drawn each time you start a new line.

I could be completely wrong doing it this way, but it sorted my needs out – maybe there is a less wasteful way to do it?

Part time sales assistant on the kitchen section in B&Q. I sell kitchens haha :)

Also do a fair few photo/graphics/web jobs, some on regular contracts, some not.

Out of interest... how much discount do you reckon someone who haggles hard could get out of your section? Been meaning to go do that for a while then not pay at the end... just to see how desperate they are in these times of economic downturn...

Not alot to be honest. I have no idea how it's effecxting the company as a whole but on the shop floor i'm not really noticing people buying less kitchens, my commision is going up if anything but i guess that's just luck and experience.

And the tight times just means less discounts really.

We don't allow haggling unless the product is damaged or whatever, but theres always different offers on. We've had ÂŁ1 kitchen doors, 40% off everything on kitchens an 15% off everything in stores etc which is how the powers that be are dealing with it i guess.

That's interesting, I guess it's B&Q being different to specialist stores. I've been in places like, for example, MFI and walked away smugly after getting the sales guy to give me a 40% discount after promising I'd take it away that day. All comes down to appealing to the guys wallet in commission terms I guess... If you're not having any trouble in that way then good stuff, it's just one of my sad activities every now and again. Keeping in practise at getting discounts seems like a good idea to me! lol.

Haha fair play. But yeah, i generally book design appointments with consultants who as far as i'm aware give few discounts (apart from the ones i mentioned).

But if someone knows what they want i can also order kitchens there and then for them, and i'd be f**ked if i gave them a 40% discount, it's just unheard of unless they have serious issues an take it up with a manager an all that. Technically even the design consultants operate under that same arrangement.

Part timer at an Auto spares shop (conveniently called Autoparts), which also sells bikes and remote control goods (I guess its a shop for boys toys).

Ace place, I couldn't be working anywhere better; pay is good, discount is immense, and its a real good working environment. I've known the people who work there for ages, and we all share the same interests (Xbox, bikes, cars, RC goods, Food, etc), so its also socialising.
