The girl stood at the window (having a cigarette or whatever). Take her from behind, full access to all areas round the front with your hands, plus great view of her arse and access for a finger up there if that's your thing, good fun for her too, every one wins! Davey

This is pretty much exactly what happened to me! I think people are getting confused and thinking you have the fixed one when you said you have the sprung one... am I right? Are you running quite a small sprocket too? Basically what I'd done was make the tension too tight and the linear spring actually bent (not great is it)! I shortened my chain so I could tension it up, this helps for 2 reasons. Firstly this will sort the skipping because more of the chain wraps round the sprocket, and secondly when you do it that way you can use the little grum screw that sits agains your mech hanger to "micro tune" the tension. So, with your finger push the chain up to where it will be when tensioned, then align the spring so it's about 15mm below the chain, then fit the arm and jockety wheel, it should be perfect but if not you can adjust the grub screw to get it spot on! If you want me to I can PM you a pic of the instructions, think I still have them at work and they explain it all really well.... unlike me! Davey

Big London Ride 3rd Sept (it's A Sunday)
Davey replied to stiffnips's topic in Member Organised Rides
I'll try and get me and 1 handed Luke down in my car, are bikes on the underground frowned upon? Davey -
Might be a LBS job, only other thing I can think of is try using a length of chain, if you can get a decent grip on it, maybe hold it with a rag or something wedged through the gaps between the links, and use that like a chainwhip, because it's basically the same but without a convenient handle!
-
Without a chain whip it's tricky because you're unscrewing in the freewheel direction, try using mole grips on the sprocket to hold the freewheel while you give the lockring hell, I assume you got the lockring tool? This isn't advised if you actually want to use the sprocket afterwards by the way, lol! Davey

Do you mean like a spacer? If so I used a flat head screwdriver to get under it and prise it off, the further it gets the wider head screwdriver you need to prise it further! Davey
-
Jake are you just really highly strung or something because you seem to be forever giving people a hard time, chill the feck out man! Davey

He speaks no lie, it is the path to either brown wings or black eye, it's a gamble worth taking to be honest! Go for a finger first time, then maybe a thumb, work your way up! Anyway, back on topic, me and all my mates (male and female) got naked outside a vicars house once.... he wasn't impressed, the police payed a visit that night.... but I also got laid that night so can't complain! Davey

Yeah, unfortunately chain was too loose and couldn't tension it up, then when I took a link out it was too tight, hence I went back to Standard Pro Trials bash, even though I loved the Super Pro Also, it has to be said, the drop-outs on the old Controls were SOO much better than the new one's, mine is a pain, have to completely remove the quick release to get the wheel out, it's all too tight but the old one's had lots of room by the looks of it. Why did they change them? Silly sods! Davey
-
Yeah, I think I set it up too tight and it couldn't handle it, seems to be workin a treat now though so I take it all back.... sorry DMR! Davey

No advertising on NMC... It is strong as you like, no worries there. Only down side I found was I use quite a heavy gear so I needed a really small sprocket at the back and it skipped. What ratio do you ride at the moment and I'll tell you what sprocket you need!!
-
I don't ride by myself very often because I always ride better when other people are riding too, kinda motivates me to push myself I guess! Riding by yourself just aint the same, because when you pull something big/smooth there's no one there to go "Yeah, sweet"!!! Davey
-
Out of interest, do you find with the Super Pro Trials ring running single speed that you have to run a tiny sprocket and it skips like a mutha? because I did! Maybe I run a heavier gear though because your sprocket looks like a 13/14t, mine was 12t Anyway, looks sweet, nice and tidy Davey

It might just be me but I reckon at some point we have all done an impression of the bit in the Martix where Neo leans WAY back as the bullets fly past him, that was pretty revolutionary at the time. Also the D-day landings at the beginning of Saving Private Ryan. That is the single most shocking and thought provoking piece of cinema I have ever seen... feel free to disagree! Davey

Learn something new on here every day

That's the craziest thing I've ever seen. I though all that kinda stuff was relatively new school, didn't even realise 20inch was around back then. I've seen old Hans Rey vids and stuff like "Chain Spotting", and this is years older but it makes those look really old school! Apart from the bike and the clothes you'd be forgiven for thinking that was filmed in 2006! I'd be interested to find out a bit about that bike he's riding, like what brakes he's running as I've never known anything before V brakes to hold like that, canti's were never that good.... were they? Are you sure V's weren't around?!? I gotta watch that again, that is the bollox!! Davey
-
Few updates, see new pictures at the top!
-
Nah, because where would that cable be leading? V brakes are up the top of the seatstays, not all the way down there, and the disk mount is on the other side.... I still think Jake's suggestion was most likely, because there is NOTHING other than gears at that point on any bike! Davey
-
I got two balls and neither of them are crystal! Only kiddin'. I guess we need to wait for the next big thing in new styles and techniques really, and whoever is doing that better than the rest will be the next big thing! Davey
-
What else could it be there though? Unless I'm missing something! Looks like one, flat at one end rounded at the other! Davey
-
Late notice but a few of us from Colchester are riding Ipswich tonight if anyone's up for it? Probably be there at about 7:30ish at the skate park near the train station. Call me 07811 094314 or Luke 07905 665507 See you there! Davey

True, I have never made a bike. I've also never written and book so does that mean I can't point out the faults in books either?!?!? Joking aside, I wasn't aware that manufacturers used catalogue components, that would explain it, so for the third time I WAS WRONG. I'll stick to what I know and say that I like the colour Davey
-
Like I said, looks like I'm wrong! In which case, they have welded a completely pointless cable guide to the seatstay, so they don't know that much about mods do they!!!!!! Davey
-
Hmm, not being stubborn or anything, I can see the file names have the word mod in, and I'll admit it doens't seem to have a mech hanger, but it has cable guides for gears and the brake mounts look WAY too far up the stays to me (I know they're long but look at the position of the brake mounts on the zoo CLS above)... like I said, could be wrong and looks like I am, but can anyone else see what I'm talking about?!?!? Davey

Lol, fair enough, but points 1, 2 and 3 still stand! Davey
