Changing gear?

There's quite a few supporters of the BNP in Guernsey, but only one registered member. It was reported in the local paper yesterday that 'someone with a common Guernsey name' (haha) was on the list. It was bloody front page news (Guernsey has little to do/report) today, with him 'hitting back' with his reasons for joining in the 80's, and how he hadn't been in contact with them since shortly after joining. Problem is that a few people noticed that next to his name on the list was a local Guernsey mobile number. The operator/area prefix before his number has only been in use for the last few years. Oops.

It’s a very broad name for a job that can be related to pretty much anything. Probably a third of what I do is administration so it’s a bit of a fancy title hehe. I work for a private equity investment manager so the work is very varied and can be reasonably interesting. You learn a little bit about everything as they invest in companies doing all sorts. The money is shit hot too (doubled my salary in two years) and there’s a fair bit of travel. My employer hires people in England/Switzerland/USA to do the same thing as me and they require at least a relevant degree, with a view to going on and doing something like CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst). It’s purely because it’s an employees market in Guernsey that someone like me with shitty AS levels can land a pretty good job just based on experience. In London it’s far more competitive and you’ve got to work a lot harder. Sometimes I feel that I haven't got any time to myself, especially with study too. Unless you want to sell your soul, I’d stick with IT. Law is going to kick ass.

I’d seriously think twice before risking any money with this kind of ‘strategy’. High risk should come with the potential of a high return. If you match your risk against your return potential here, it's way out of balance. Check out some analysts reports (or a fundamental analysis) on Reuters or Bloomberg and you’ll see the majority of them are edging on the side of sell.

I have to say I’ve had to bite my tongue a few times. I think there are a lot of people on here with a major superiority complex; using the forum as a way to pick on others and basically compensate for their own feelings of inferiority and rejection in the world outside of Trials Forum (although that world is a distant memory for some…!). Everyone makes dickheaded posts, but there seems a culture of habitually ganging up on a few specific people for shits and giggles. I know a good deal of the people who regularly do it are kids, but you’d think judging by some of their more intelligent posts they’d grow up. Before the defensive nips start bleating, I’m not ranting about anything said in this topic particularly or recently, just in general.
