  1. Well I'd call him an idiot. All wearing surfaces need some lubrication, just because thinner oil is better than thicker oil, it doesnt follow that none at all is even better.
  2. Bang on. provided you arent in the poor house, can provide for the people/animals around you and can keep whatever toys and things you want, why think further? There's a lot of tossers in this village, a very high proportion are rich. That alone is enough to put me off high-flying.

Try to carry on as per usual, get out and about doing the things you love as much as you can. If any grace is to be found in such a bad situation, it is that you will value your own life more and make better use of it. Help him and your family as much as you can, you will regret it if you don't. Understand that he will have good and bad days, particularly if he has chemo or radiotherapy treatment. Overall, be positive, he wants to see you happy and productive, keeping yourself in good trim is the best way to help him. I'm not davey, but sadly im well qualified to give advice on this matter
  4. You can't prefer two things at once
  5. He'll get her up the duff and there'll be a welsh-style shotgun wedding
  6. In the situation of not having the old bb to hand, the shell size is easy to come by, the bb axle length is mainly guesswork and experience. You can measure for it, but its not the easiest thing to do without some tools.
  7. Pre '94 is a mk11F (f for facelift), pre '90 is a straight mk11 I believe the last non-crossflow engine was the 1093, which died out it the mid 80's, the 1043 and 1272 are both crossflow.
  8. Yeah but you're a student not a labourer . That thing is a sack of feathers compared to the old sarashite I ride to work, and considerably less than a bag of coal.
  9. If its not an american thread, then it isnt the same.

    Problem Page!

Its common sense, it took three drunk lads about five minutes to come up with that lot the other week when I posed the question
  11. #4 -40 UNC, 1/2" long. Good luck figuring that one out
  12. He is/was a user, Ryan is his name on here I think. It was a hell of a long time ago he did this, he used a magura louise caliper and hs33 slaves and lever. To give you an idea of just how "good" it was, it lasted about a week and he scrapped the idea.
  13. It has been done before, and it did work, lots of modulation and a nice lock, but it had all the downsides. You still had to keep the rim clean and true, and the disc could still be clouted on a rock. Plus it weighed, or felt to weigh, a lot more than you'd imagine.
  14. Tuuuuuuuune We need more playgrounds like that here. Or move to spain, I don't mind
  15. Just the way koxx go about things. Dominique Hermance is a shrewd businesman, not a philanthropist. Koxx warranties have always been hard to come by and very short (think three months)
  16. Rather than the spokes coming from left-right-left-right as you look around the rim, they come right-right-left-left
  17. He's done it, spokes running in groups of two from each side and every ninth hole missed out. As much of a bodge as it looks, it seems strong.
  18. Actually rather nice. Its light and well balanced, and the lack of big wheels makes tucking easier. I rode it the other day, the first time I've gone out in 18 months, and was comfortably beating the old targets within an hour.
  19. I hope that was 2 pints of rocket fuel for 6 bloody quid
  20. Take the one that doesnt fit, at least you then know it isnt that one. Have a rough stab at measuring it. They come out at 12, 14 and 15mm. truvativ only use 12 and 15 from memory though.
  21. haha, yeah you threw me with the bit about a shimano bb (they dont make ISIS). If it's handy, take the BB, or get the spec. There are three different bolt diameters for ISIS.
  22. Square taper I presume, if so, any crank bolt that fits the BB axle will work nicely with the cranks you have.
  23. Boost pressure and volume are both important, they're inextricably linked to each other by the power input to the blower. Of course, a properly designed electric blower will be able to do the job, the cheapy one looks anything but that. Seem to remember Peugot talking about a dual blower system, bit like the VAG twincharger engine but with electric rather than mechanical supercharging at low revs.
  24. Unless you get a through axle machined up with a 12mm centre and 10mm ends (which is perfectly possible by the way), it won't work with your frame.
  25. Says somewhere in that ebay ad. that it takes 30 amps at maximum output. 30*12 = 3600 watts A 4kw extraction fan will shift nearly 3000 cubic feet of air a minute. Its generally thought that to support a 100 horse engine, you need 150 cubic feet a minute of air. Bolt that fan to a 100 horse engine. Allowing for the fan to be utterly crap at pressure and only work at 1/10 of its output, you're still looking at 300 cubic feet a minute. That's 1 bar of boost. I know the thing looks silly and probably is complete rubbish, but it might just work.
