  1. I've had a couple of stiff links but they've worked out eventually and never caused a skip. KMC I'm not really a fan off and the one half link I did own has put me right off them. What chain do you recommend then for ultimate strength? Phil
  2. Of course I have, and the last time I went over the bars on a gap and landed on my face and chest was because I was using a half link....... Preeeecisely Phil
  3. Don't go there. Just go the safe option and get a KHE Collapse of Tarty. Might be heavier than some but atleast you will feel safe..... Phil A good chain shouldn't get loose OR snap. Phil

    Tpa

Sounds stupid but I got so pissed off with mine breaking all the time I just made sure it was solid then took off the lever and compacted aluminium foil in the bottom of the lever body so it is as if TPA is full all the time. Not ideal, but works. Phil
  5. If the worst comes to the worst and you can't get hold of a crank extractor (and you've tried going to your local bikeshop) and the hammer isn't working just heat the metal of the crank up and tap it with a hammer until it comes Phil
  6. Go 26", I'm 6 ft 2 and ride a stock. Riding my mates 20" just feels abit wrong as I'm so bent over. Unless you bought a really long Mod (I'm presuming your not going for one of the more expensive frames as your a beginner) I reacon anyone over 6 foot looks like the hunch back of Notre Dame on a Mod. Phil
  7. That was incredible! Phil
  8. Allright fair doos than glad you see where I'm coming from. I can definetly see there is a possibility they killed her too I just don't think its a large one. You live in Basingstoke I see, I live 15mins away by train, should ride sometime (or maybe not now jokes) Phil
  9. Ah man. I'm not telling you your wrong, I'm telling you that there is a possibility you are right and a possibility you are wrong but either way you cannot KNOW or be 100% sure. You are getting confused as I am not attacking you on the grounds of you having an 'opinion' I am merely pointing out it is impossible for you to KNOW they killed her with the insufficient evidence you posses however it is highly possible for you to THINK they killed her. Phil
  10. Haha! Well said sir Phil Of course everyone is entitled to their opinions, but to go in so strong swearing and going mental about something you 'think'. I say 'think' because you think you know it, there is no way you can be sure. However in the eventuality that you are a fortune teller I apologise. Phil
  11. Abit ignorant. Maybe they have taken it abit far with the high profile interviews etc I will agree. BUT you are basing the intierity of your view on what you have read in newspapers and seen on the news which are both completely biased. If you had visited the crime scene, interviewed the parents maybe you could be so sure but as it stands I'm presuming you haven't and therefore it's abit full on to be spazzing out about them being liars. Video 3

To be honest the only move in there was pedalhopping gaps or off drops. There are alot more basic skills that can be learnt, for example: small sidehops, sidehopping off drops, endo's climbing objects, trackstands, spins on the front wheel and off etc. Don't mean to sound harsh, you have the kickhops dialled but just make sure you don't spend all your time working on pedalhopping as there is lots more to it. Phil
  13. Get yourself on some alternative forums and see what you can find out there would be my only thought. To be honest I think its fair to say all countries in europe have cities/towns/villages with hundreds of great places to ride. Take just the county of Hampshire, I bet there is a good days riding to be had in atleast 15 places eg Southhampton, Basingstoke etc etc. So I reacon the best way about it is to see which countries are the best in other respects, for example: Price, culture, personal interest, if you know someone there etc. Just what I reacon Phil
  14. Nice riding but just abit dull really. Enjoyed your last proper one in your trials area but just seemed like all the footage there could be compacted down to a minute of interesting stuff. Riding was very smooth though. Phil
  15. That sounds about right to me. He could also take time to work on his style, the smoother he rides the less damage there will be. Phil
  16. Because they only just bought out the 36 hole version, it's very recent and probably want to see how 36 hole sells in general before manufacturing them in loads of colours. Luckily for me I needed 36 hole and was looking for black. Phil
  17. KHE Collapse chain is all I'd use now. KMCs are very popular but I go for the KHE because I can trust it 100%, however the KHE weighs abit more. Both chains are available at www.tartybikes.co.uk Whatever you do don't go to your local bikeshop and pick any old random one up. I went for a half link a while back - big mistake...... Phil
  18. Really enjoyed that. Riding was very smooth throughout. Very nice natty style, everything just flowed. (Adressing Koxx rider) Phil
  19. haha true. But sometimes abit of advice speeds up nature. Phil
  20. Really enjoyed that video, thought it had a slow start then really got into it! Just a nice relaxed video with an awesome tune. I can't believe he is 22 though would have said 15 (sorry) Phil
  21. What blows my mind is the fact that the faster you are going the more time slows down: You might not believe it but Einstein did and he knew a thing or two Example: If you got in a space ship flew around the universe for say 50 years at one MPH less than light speed (impossible to reach light speed) if you returned to earth you would assume 50 years had gone by by however this would not be so, hundreds of years would have gone by. Just a little thought. Phil
  22. Firstly don't listen to 'Tom Jefferies' he's just too cocky. The main problem is your not moving your body enough, if you watch the video you give the pedals a smack and then your body stays rigid through the air. However to improve your gapping technique you have to develop your gapping so your body is doing alot of the work not just relying on a kick of the pedals. There are a number of ways of doing this: - I would suggest gapping from a static position (standing still on the backwheel) as it gives you greater balance and more time to decide what you want to do. - Then drop the front end abit more (not too far that you plummet into the ground) - Next give the pedals a massive slog whilst leaning forwards towards the bar - Tuck the bike up into your body by pulling up your legs - Then stretch the bike out infront of you to meet the landing by extending your legs Watch Neil Tunicliffe or Damon Watson, preety close to the perfect technique I would say. Hope that is some help, your gap looked well smooth though I have to say. Phil
  23. Awesome riding. Very very good video. All round very good rider and the sides were huge. Seems like the eastern european trials scene is exploding! Loads of great riders making vids. Phil
  24. To conclude this discussion what tyre should I actually get? I'm running a 2.1 Hutchinson at the moment out of necessity and it's crap because I have to have a higher pressure in it. Cheers, Phil
  25. You are a cretin. Anyway as 'jebend' was pointing out disk brakes vary, depends on what brake you have but picking up some basic standard pads from your local bikeshop will do the trick. Won't be expensive maybe £9? Phil
