Recently snapped my 22T chainring on my Middleburn cranks. Do I want the 'Middleburn Inner chainring' or is it worth getting the 'Middleburn Hardcote chainring' Thanks, Phil

I am running a KHE but I was running it before so shouldn't make a difference. Aha could be the BB, its fairly screwed up and it took a beating today with a hammer. Actually now I come to thik of it, cranks spin normally backwards so can't be the BB Phil

Oh dear lord. I think she's quite entitled to step out of her doorway. Your in the wrong completely! You were breaking the law. (I ride everywhere on the pavement) Phil Its illegal to ride on the pavement. I'm not sure if there is any size restrictions but at the end of the day if you ride a mod and you look about 10 I doubt any policemen will stop you. Its quite unlikely you will get caught though and if you see a policeman just hop off your bike straight away, walk apast then keep on riding. Phil

No I had a piece of crap DMR tensioner which I had sawn the wheel out, sawn half the body out of and had tensioning down via a BB cup being held between the frame and the tensioner haha. Cheers, but extra tension isn't a problem at the moment just getting my beloved gear back! Phil

I have a slight problem which I don't exactly understand. I replaced my middleburn 22T chain ring because it snapped. At the same time I fitted a 74 kingz tensioner. So I still have 22:18 ratio but just with a Kingz tensioner. BUT my gear feels substancially harder (higher) and I don't understand why. I havent over tensioned the chain so its hard to push the cranks round and I can't really think of an explanation. The only possible reaosns I can think of is that the chain rubbing against plastic makes alot of friction which makes it harder but im very doubtful of this as that would mean its just a crap design. Or its something to do with where it is positioned, like somehow preventing the wheel from spinning as easily Can anybody solve this mystery? Phil

Now Some Bikes Might Look Sexual But...........
Phil H replied to Ross McArthur's topic in Trials Chat
Can I just add that is a f***ing piss take. I'm not into it myself BUT if they had walked into find him having sex with a woman there would be no 3 years on probation they would just turn around and walk out the door rather embarassed. So so stupid, what is wrong with the government! How can that be a crime. If he did it in public maybe ... but in his own room! Phil -
Thanks for your advice, understand what your saying, the mounts abit sketchy then? (not that I was going double disk anyway) Phil Sounds good, thats the one I was thinking about getting Not to sound like a twat, but ts quite a deep red and im not sure if I could ever build it up to look nice colour wise. Was looking into getting a long czar 07 but my mate decided he needed to hang onto it for abit A1 has too much BB rise for me, used to 0 at the moment. Phil Hmm, I could get hold of a toxsin 2 very easily but I just don't really like the ride personally, and looking down and seeing a mega wirde top tube kinda puts me off. (no offence) cheers, Phil ah... might have put me off abit. I know you ride absolutely huge but judging from your videos I reacon I weigh more than you so I don't think that bodes well. Ideally I'd have the long Czar like you but as I mentioned above my mate needs to hang onto it and I don't fancy paying the full rrp for it. cheers, Phil

I'm thinking of buying a toxsin 1, I've heard they ride very nicely. I'm 6ft 2 so im looking for something quite long and at 1095 it seems ideal. I'm moving up from 0 BB rise and the Toxsin should be around +15 so seems like a nice step up, not too harsh. What are your thoughts? Cheers, Phil

Will a 74kingz tensioner work with a QR? (as opposed to bolts) cheers, Phil

Really really enjoyed that. Riding was nice and thought the song fitted well. Good work Phil

What the..............bit of a massive jump between putting slightly more weight on one side of the handle bar to needing 'correction therapies', besides either just crap bars (as backed up by David20) of there was a factory error in those specific ones. Phil

You fool. Thats exactly what trials is, taking the obstacles as they come whatever the conditions. Its not ideal but its certainly alot of fun. If anyone was at the Essex trial at canada height it was a laugh in the rain, despite slipping out every other section. Phil

I second that, VP are the way to go Phil

Incredible Riding, such skill. Thought the songs were shocking personally. Cheers for sharing it. Phil

Classic vid! I dare not think about how many times I've watched it! Phil

Haha was it Alex who smacked him one? Phil

Personally, although they may be as good for trialsy stuff, as many people have said, I reacon trials moves like in felix's vid just look very very wrong on a 24". The riding was great but something about it just looked horrible to me because of the size and shape of a 24". But doesn't matter what it looks like I suppose its all about how it rides. Phil

661's are a big mistake, as are anything made by specialised. Go for the Hebo Team Trials gloves. Feel nice on your hands, very grippy, hard wearing, well made, thin enough so you dont boil up but thick enough so you get some warmth and looks damn good. Phil

Its a damn tricky situation. I've been riding trials on the street for a couple of years and a couple of months ago everyone in my family turned against me and said I should stop riding it! I do understand the pros and cons. The main issue is getting a criminal record. It doesn't seem like a big deal but when it comes down to future employment it is actually very important. My sister is a lawyer and explained to me that although most policemen won't care, if you bump into one policemen, who is having a particularly bad day and feels like making an example out of you they can easily enough take you to court on any number of charges. If one member of the public when asked says you are disturbing them you can be charged. Also it goes without saying that if you damage any walls its without doubt classed as 'criminal damage'. BUT This is a worst case scenario , what we need to remember is the chances of this happening are actually very very minimal. In a couple of years we've had one police woman telling us not to ride a spot because we could get in the way of people and another policeman telling a mate what he was doing was really cool but he doesn't fancy coming back if he hurt himself so he should stop. In conclusion its really a game of chance. I reacon 99/100 trials riders won't get in any trouble for riding on the street, its just crap if your the 1/100 because it can screw other things up. I've tried out being lippy and being polite and being polite without doubt gets the best results. So just bite the bullet and move on with a smile and a sorry when people have a problem and ride it some other time because it aint worth getting screwed over about. Thats just my view on things anyway. Phil

haha fair enough. Erm basically as you kick let the front end go quite low, really slog the kick then pull up your legs to the tuck the bike up undearneath you to get height then extend your legs as far as you can to push the bike out infront of you and plant it on the target, then the momentum should push you over and on. Thats the theory anyway . I'm probably not the best person to ask - can only do just over 7ft flat. Study Tunni's movement, thats the kinda thing I mean. Phil

Cool video, nice work. Gap across the road was huuuuge! To the Jimbo guy on the stock I would say possibly slow somethings down abit more, for example when he went up onto the bench he did a kick before the main one up. I just reacon it would look better and more controlled if he kicked to back and then was static before. Also reacon abit more tuckage and then extension on the gaps could make them even bigger. Hope was constructive. Phil

'Scraps' was awesome! The first hook to back actually confuses the hell out of me, very smooth Really good watch Phil ps. probably a compliment but at one point I considered that you may be ben savage haha.

Can't believe no one is backing me up with hook woods! Disgraceful! Phil
