Go with the singlespeed set up every time. I run a 74 kingz, very efffective part I also use RS7's and 22-18 is the perfect gear for me. Phil

Did you use the sound track for 300? Sounds alot like it. Some preety massive riding going on. Phil

Unless your visiting a nudist resort I see a problem! (might need to pack some clothes too) And it's likely to get smashed about in a suitcase, they aren't exactly delecate with them. Phil
-
Right guys thanks for all your advice was helpful. I phoned Hope and they said its quite rare for it to happen but if I send it in and that is the problem they will sort it out, brilliant customer care! I can safely say hope will be my lifetime company of choice for hubs. Anyway its taken an hour and a half to build a bullet proof box but I'm there! Phil

Very commonly asked question. Tar is effective but not ideal if you: Have a smooth rim and you ONLY EVER ride in the dry. Tar is shocking if you are ever planning to ride in the wet. What you really want is a grind (which is when your wheel is grinded with an angre grinder to create a rough surface with some harder compound pads specifically designed for a grind eg Koxx Browns, Rock Blues (found on Tarty Bikes)) Phil

Right I'll further investigate tomorrow maybe get some pictures and then contact hope. Phone or email advised? Would be awesome to get it working, got a 07 echo laying around but for the hub, spokes and a wheelbuild looking in the region of £170 which does not seem reasonable atall, more than I got my frame for! Phil
-
Haha I agree but £130 seems extortionate! One of these things that jsut has to be done Iguess........ Phil

I hear you but if it was not engaging squarely the pawls would skip over the ratchet and it would skip, at the moment all engagement is being kept and it is just turning smoothly so I think it has to be the ratchet spinning. Phil
-
Yeah looks most likely. I don't see why I couldn't open it all up prise it out and try glueing it down like hell. I think at some point I have to accept my mono won't live forever and a pro 2 might be wise (however devertating it is on the wallet) Phil

Isn't the drive ring had a loo kfor that it's definetly the whole freehub moving and the axle appeared ok when I took the freehub off (well it didn't collapse) Aha good thinking. I seriously reacon it could be the ratchet rotating due to how constant the speed it moves is. Will have to experiment tomorrow. If the worst comes to the worst does anyone know if a pro2 is the same hub shell size as the mono, by this I mean will the same spokes and same rim work with a pro2? Cheers all, Phil

Have a hope mono Ti on the rear. Ratchet appears fine, springs fine and pawls look fine. HOWEVER when if I kick hard instead of the hub skipping the pedal moves down and the freehub just rotates. I would understand if the ratchet was worn so the pawls had nothing to grap onto but if that was the case it would make a horrible noise and jerk downwards (like a huge skip) but this doesn't happen. I can ride normally if I press softly on the pedals but when I kick it smoothly and slowly rotates the freehub and doesn't engage the wheel. But it still find the engagement points as it clicks just as loud. Conffusing Anyone offer some technical advice please? Phil

Out of interest is it the 06 model pro 2's that were cracking occasionally? Is all this about '10% stronger' hub shell really true about the 07? Phil

Your wrong, he doesn't have access to the bike pics thread thus it is completely reasonable to post it in new members. Anyway bike is looking preety mint! I ride a toxsin 1. Also looks like you have some preety nice terrain to ride! Phil

Does Anyone Know Where I Can Buy Powerpad Backings?
Phil H replied to JonMack's topic in Trials Chat
Pads sound good and at a decent price! Looking forward to seeing how they work. As for the above idea, I understand that on paper it looks feasable in practice the majority of people will not be bothered to send them. (buying stamps etc people are lazy!) Phil -
Ah cheers dude this is helpful. Sounds like a stupid question but how would I actually clean the inside, can't get cloth in there and would squirting it with water not do some damage? Also what do you mean by XC chain lube, WD40? any Penetrating oil? Cheers, Phil

Your making it sound like its an amazing honour to be validated, like you have been chosen by God. It's not a big deal Phil
-
haha! harsh! Point taken but I saw it wasn't snapped when I took off the freehub. Phil
-
Right, cheers for the input guys. Took the freehub off, checked the ratchet was good which it was, cleaned the pawls, stretched out the springs. Rode for about an hour and it happened twice which wasn't too bad but still kind of annoying. The confusing thing is it didn't actually happen whilst riding trials, jsut when I was riding on the flat Phil
-
It's not actually politics, it's creating a cheaper frame meaning street trials is more accessable and the buyer doesn't have to automatically splash out £200. Phil I'm not sure these two specifications go together. If its going to take mid travel forks it is definetly not going to be a pure trials frame so isn't gonig to have a low seat. It's like asking for a DH bike with 7inches rear travel but to run rigids on the front. Phil

Just build up the bike you have with better parts, I'm sure not all of it is broken. So every time anytihng breaks replace it with a better quality part and by the end you'll end up with a mint bike. Alot easier than having to save a lump sum and it doesn't feel as if your spending as much and you can do it gradually over a few months so you don't have to give up drinking, but give up the fags regardless Phil
-
Springs should be all good, replaced them recently. Pawls shouldn't break I wouldn't think. If its the ratchet gone I'll cry I'll have a look at it later on Phil Better not be! You sold it to me! AND I just got it re-built with an 07 echo rim. Phil

It's a hope mono Ti, was riding today and it not so much skipped but jerked a few times. It wasn't when I was actually applying alot of pressure, it just happened randomly for example when I applied some pressure to slow riding fakie for a run up. I've got enough tension, my chain ring is brand new and my sprocket shouldn't be too worn, does anyone know what this may be? Phil

Alot more hassle than it would ever be worth Phil -
DO NOT go anywhere near half link chains. KMC or KHE are the best options. Personally I run a KHE collapse and love it, it's properly strong and not as stiff as everyone makes out they are (in my experience), however alot of people favour the KMC. It's your choice at the end of the day but I would advise the KHE. Phil
