I would have done that, but I did have my doubts, and also I never got to try it out. I started to make some prototype bar ends a few years ago because I had some round pieces of rubber from an old set of Manitou elastoma forks I snapped, I was about to get the end bit machined when I realised that my bars were to thick, and the rubber didn't fit in, I spotted them on the side the other day and it got me thinking, so I checked and they fitted the monty bars really well, so I drilled a couple of pieces of wood to fit a bolt inside including the head, then stuck the rubber, a washer and a nut on the end, and they work fine now. I want them wider now though. They're 28.5 inches and the extenders are as stiff as hell, so I reckon I could go at least another inch either side.
