I love the fact that your shocked that I prefer disc. It's not uncommon you know, there are a lot of riders that use rear disc brakes, including Benito Ross and many other top level Mod riders. The reason I prefer a rear disc is it feels smoother to ride, less maintenance and less noise. I hate the on/off feel of a maggy, the noise, the constant fiddling with it to try and get it to work, replacing brake pads every couple of months. The list just goes on. I ride these two bikes next to each other regularly, and my Echo is definately the one for me.

I've been riding bikes for 7 years, and in that time I have swapped crown races numerous times, including recently, when I have been swapping between my Echo lites and pace carbon forks. I use a hammer. I doubt a headset will explode due to a few little marks on the crown race. You just need to take your time and tap it down gently.

I just hit it with a hammer all the way round, it twists and stuff but it will get pushed on properly after 5 mins of riding anyway.

No thanks, I have a top spec maggy on my brothers bike, and I hate it. Bites like mad, holds like mad and makes all the right noises. I had a rear disc on my 06 Echo for 6 months, then bought a new bike with a maggy, which was really good, (apparantly), rode it for 3 weeks and I went back to disc. I just hate maggies, I have tried many different ones, and have now built my brothers up into the best one I have ever used, and it's rubbish.

Hammer a piece of wood inside them, then hammer that inside the bars. You may need to sand them down until they'll go in.

1045mm WB with echo lites, +45mm BB if I remember rightly, shorter chainstays than a python though, so the bb is a little closer to the rear wheel. Mine rode pretty nice, it was mega for street bashing. I kinda want another one now, if they didn't weigh about 2.5kg.

Got a vice? I put a topic on the wiki a while back, but the wiki is broken. Anyway, bolt the tool into the crank arm with a loads of nuts/threaded bar/spacers/bolts assembly, put the tool in the vice, slip a bar over the end of the crank arm and twist it anticlockwise, it will take a lot of effort, but it'll be reet.

It uses a BB tool.

Just because you have to work hard for your stuff doesn't mean you can begrudge people who get it from Mum and Dad. I lnow people that got given cars when they became 17, everything paid for, but I don't mind, I'm happy for them!
