Normally, I'd not bother as you're clearly mental these days, but here we go... I know at least 100 people, 5 of which are heavy pot-heads. Every single one of them in school were clever, bright and attentive in conversation. Now they're always in a constant state of potato. Compare that to all of the other people I know who do not exhibit that behavior, and that is proof in my eyes. Behavior including: Unfocussed eyes Completely ignoring you mid conversation and going off on a tangent without realising they do it ("What time is it?", "Duddee, can you ever like, smell your own nose?") Slurred speech Slow speech Talking utter bollocks I've been observing the effects of weed on my friends for years, it can't get any more conclusive in my eyes.

Awful lot of complete and utter bullshit in that article, especially "Pot is NOT harmful to the human body or mind". So every heavy stoner I've ever known dropped 40 IQ points for no reason then?
-
Ah I see... Yeh that's a bit wierd lol.

I had a similar problem with my lady meeting up with her ex and a few mates for a night out, but then I realised that they broke up for a reason, I'm an awesome bloke and she's lucky to have me (honest!) and that I was being childish. Don't worry dude, she's married to you, she's had your kids and she's moving into her parent's house with you. She's got no reason to play away, maybe she just wanted to catch up? I don't really feel comfortable remaining friends with exes, but I'm aware that a lot of people (especially girls) have no problem with it.

Yeh well your hypothesis was silly. I wouldn't say I was severely ignorant, however I was ignorant to exactly what you were trying to convey with your last reply as I only skim read it. If it works for you using one then that's fine, but to be honest I'm a little surprised. A proper email address using your own URL and having a high quality portfolio at that URL is very important in freelance IMO. It's all part of your online persona!
-
You posted a blanket hypothesis (that the guy must be a cock) and then we both proposed situations where that would untrue. Why not just admit that your hypothesis is flawed instead of attempting to be right?
-
Depends who you're hiring. Would you hire a web developer if they didn't have an email address for their own URL on their CV? Just to be clear, I have interviewed people who have have hotmail addresses on their CVs for a designer/developer job, but it didn't look good. Throwing their CVs away because of it is very cockish though.

Definitely phone them up tomorrow and explain the situation dude. Also, what he said, GMail is the only way to go.

So, do I carry on writing my dissertation or just get hammered on cheap booze?
-
My dissertation is in very soon, trust me, I don't have the time. Although I am choosing to prioritise my own life over my life in 10 years time, yes. Here's a neat idea, why doesn't someone else read all this stuff and then just give me a bullet pointed list of what I should and shouldn't be doing? I don't own any down filled mountaineering clothes for example, because of how horrible down production can be (and usually is). Here's a genuine suggestion (not in an arsey kind of way at all), you're clearly one of the most reasoned and aware people on the forum, why not just report back every now and again with stuff you find? If what I need to know from this 28 minute video is "f**k planes", then I'll just avoid planes.
-
That did not make it simple. Fact remains that most of us haven't got the time to read about what is going on in the world in too much detail. I for one have far too much to handle at home before I start caring about what's happening "out there". However, I try to do my bit. I'm a big consumer of computer and climbing produce, both things that take a lot of energy and chemicals to produce, so instead of buying new ones, I buy second hand as much as I can. This is partly because it's cheaper but also I'm starting to care more about the environment.
-
Can someone just tell me what to do and make it simple? Am I supposed to avoid flying on planes, or fly to work every day?
-
Bad times guys. I had the same deal with physics, I was really struggling but I thought I'd get a D/E at least, but in the end I got a U.
-
He didn't, you did by having a tiny, tiny little homo monitor. Doesn't come close to the edge of the screen on mine.

I like the idea of this... Does anyone on here have their own working yet?

Singing and entertaining is not her calling...

I thought it was a Zenith at first glance, looks very similar! I likes it though Prawn, very smart.

I didn't give any advice? I merely pontificated as to the source of the lack of starting in TROYston's car. I'd never be stupid enough to give advice! I think I may have heard the carbs you're talking about as constant velocity carbs? They're most common on big bike with multiple cylinder engines I think. All the bikes I've had (all been single cylinder 2 strokes) have had slide carbs, like this one: Anyway, clearly just a mixup in terminology, sorry for getting involved where I don't belong.
-
On bikes, directly to the carburetor via the carb slide, but after a quick google, I've realised that these are actually incorrect names/nicknames, you live and learn! I blame my upbringing... I can rebuild gearboxes on bikes but I've never even changed a windscreen wiper on a car. Cars just aren't really part of my family.

See in bikeland, the throttle is a twisty thing that sits on the handlebar.
-
I thought throttle body meant carbs in carfag speak?
-
Cutting out and not starting again for 20 mins? Sounds electrical rather than carb related to me...

You've got to be shitting me... Anyway clearly a desktop isn't feasible for you, so my advice is that I strongly recommend Samsung. I just got one and it's brilliantly put together, the screen, battery and speakers are very high quality (which is often where Acer, Asus and other lower end manufacturers cut back). I'd go for an i5-3210m, 6gb+ of RAM, a GT650m or GT640m GPU and a hard drive. I'd also probably recommend going for a 1366x768 resolution. 1920x1080 is obviously a nicer picture, but you're gaming, and laptops within your budget simply can't run the games you want at that high a resolution very well. 1366x768 is a good enough picture, and you might get a decent framerate too. Also, I'd strongly recommend getting one of these and an SSD. I've got one and it's great, it lets you move the HDD into that adapter in place of the optical drive, move the optical drive to a USB caddy, and then have an SSD in the native slot. I've currently got a 128gb Crucial M4 SSD and a 1tb HDD in mine, which is easily enough power and storage space for a laptop.

Simply put, no. You need to be spending at least £700 to play those games on a laptop, and that's playing them badly. £800 and it's starting to look viable IMO.
