Thanks Nick, I'm surprised they don't fit on as nicely as the Magura pads but if that's the way it is then fair enough. As you've probably seen from my Facebook mutterings I've cleaned all the tar off my rims (I used Turtle Wax wheel cleaner and a heavy duty washing up sponge) and I'm trying a brand new HS33 with some "modern" pads (Rockmans instead of Magura blacks) to see what all the fuss is about. I assume there are only a handful of people still using tar nowadays and there must be a reason for it. God bless, maybe see you for a ride sometime this Summer, Stephen Morris.

Me again. I've just been fitting some new pads to my Maguras - the first time I've used anything other than Magura blacks. These pads (I think they're called Rockman) don't seem to fit as snug as Magura pads do and they don't click when you push them in, is this normal? Thanks, Stephen.

Any other options? Getting petrol would involve getting a jerry can and a 2 litre minimum spend.

What's the best way to clean tar off of a ceramic rim without damaging it?

I love how the guy in the background with the big hair never gets a look in!

What was that horrible sound running throughout?

To spite you I feel like making a video inspired by the bashguard. Jonny - I always thought Southampton was the best video you made, and for the record 2003/2004 is not old school, trials was much better in those days.

Yeah that makes sense. Before starting a 12 - 16 week training plan you should be able to comfortably run 3 or 4 miles. People run marathons after 12 weeks of training so you'll breeze the half marathon, regardless of whether you're of heavy build or not. Try and run regularly, maybe two little runs in the week and a bigger run at the weekend. Most people I've spoken to (including Liz Yelling) say that the best way to run long distances is through varied training - intervals, sprints, fartleks etc (look them up). Running is boring, so try and vary it as much as you can, jump on the bus or on a train and run home again. There are some good apps on i-phone (Nike+ is my favourite) that play music from i-tunes and give you GPS maps of pace and distance which can be helpful too. Let me know how you get on. Stephen.

I think the most important thing is the attitude you approach the half-marathon with. Be positive, 13.1 miles really isn't very far. Start with running 3 miles at relaxed pace, then a quicker 3 miles, then 5 miles at a relaxed pace, then a quicker 5 miles (then 7, 9, 11, 13). You also need to work out what your pace is, are you a 9 minute miler, a 10 minute miler or an 11 minute miler? You might even find that at half-marathon distance you can go faster. Work out what's comfortable for you, what are your ambitions? Sub 2 hours needs 9 minute miles. Eat lots of carbohydrates - rice, pasta, bread, cereal and potatoes are all good. There are Jelly Belly sports beans as well as Lucozade carb gels and beans; you'll also find that most sweets like jelly babies and fruit pastilles are surprisingly full of carbohydrates (mainly sugar). Last of all make sure you stretch thoroughly after every run so that you're not aching all week long. I'm running the London Marathon in less than two weeks, wish me luck! http://www.justgiving.com/stephenmorrismarathon

Still riding? Give us a shout when you're back in October. Find me on Facebook or something - stephen.j.morris@hotmail.co.uk

I went for purple in the end and have never looked back. EDIT: Quoting you was completely unnecessary.

I'm rebuilding my bike at the moment. By rebuilding I mean replacing all the worn parts with like for like so the bike appears not to have changed at all in 7 years. Your video was great by the way, lots of fun like it should be. We'll ride London in a month or so and if you want I could do some proper filming at Corby for us all and you/me could put a video together from the footage. Speak to you soon x

No you don't, trust me on that. Nice one guys, especially the bench/bin line. Keep them coming.

They're not ignorant, they just didn't care.

A Big Big London Ride! 06 June 2010
Stephen Morris replied to Ace O Spades's topic in Member Organised Rides
Let's all chill out. This is after all an Internet forum. Personally, I don't ride my bike unless Jack Meek gives me permission to do so, but maybe this time I'll make an exception and come out to play. -
Riders In The Surrey/London Area Over Easter.

Come and ride Kingston with me and Tim in the Summer. -
The initial editing wasn't my sort of thing. You're clearly pretty good, but I still don't understand the 'brakeless' concept. I think that a lot can be learned by keeping off the brakes once in a while, but why actually take them off the bike? That I really don't understand.
-
I don't understand why a two month break would cause you having to learn all over again. I only go out riding once every two months and I'm shit hot.
-
I admire his honesty. For me, being a "team" just makes you sound like a group of friends who are more than just friends. The riding was okay; I loved the skin-tight leggings. As for the slow motion - what's the point? Sidehopping over a rail isn't visually complicated, I don't need to pause to take it all in.
-
Perhaps a 4 minute video without the cat? I think you're a pretty good rider, same sort of level as me. You've certainly got all the basics nailed, and we all have our moments when we're hopping around like loonies trying to keep our balance. EDIT: I didn't actually listen to the video, I had Master Chef on.

I've never seen one.

Songs That Should Not Be Allowed To Be Covered Ever!
Stephen Morris replied to sideburns(dnt ask)'s topic in Chit Chat
All attempts to cover Pixies have been in vain. Also, bands like Queen, the Beatles, the Kinks, the Rolling Stones should be left alone. I'm not sure if artists have tried to cover Radiohead, but I would imagine that to be a futile exercise as well. Stephen. -
Nice work Steve! It seems like ages ago now, but it was only 11th November. We'll do London again in a couple of months.

I haven't got it yet, so I'd vote for that.
