I just put a screw in, looked a bit wank, shouldn't really be an issue on a £40,000 lever, but it is.
-
-
Did a caliper snap? I put bolts with really wide heads in mine, it might make a difference, it might not, but I feel good about it! New Saint levers don't look horrid, but the M810 is my favourite style of lever.
-
Well it has the same ugly reservoir I supppse, why so hideous?
-
Avid? lol.
-
Never buy white bars.

Magura HS33 2014, lever snap, bar clamp snap, not exactly durable.

But it's new, so it must be better.... -
It's the difference between learning trackstands & basic trials moves first, and learning footjam whips and G turns first. If you don't have a strong trials base you're never gonna look as sooth as someone like Ali.
-
I looked at the Kore, but they're not known for making the strongest stuff, and at 300g...well, 25.4 Azonics used to weigh more than that.
-
I used Da bombs for ages with no problems, I only changed because I found wider bars. They're definitely not weak.

Is it the most stupid construction of brakes ever?
LEON replied to Clerictgm mk2's topic in Trials Chat
I remember Jeff Lenosky had the Rockshox one in Revolution, big chunky gold caliper. -
The surface looks wider on a G2, not that I ever measured it, but it could be that.
-
I had the G2 and Roundagon rotors on my Saints for a bit & they were really good. Roundagon has sod all holes in it, nice power is nice.
-
Rotors with too many holes are crap, there's virtually no contact area. The avid roundagon ones are good.

I think one reason saints get used a lot is the brake is much more firm than a hope, all the hope trial brakes I've felt are very spongey in comparison. That works for some people with wrist problems etc, but I definitely prefer the shimano feel. I think these days shimano make better disc brakes than Hope. Although Hope will sell you spares and sort you out while shimano will just laugh at you from a distance.

Inspired to a sleek headlock situation for it, but at £30 I'd rather buy a cheap bmx/dirt one for £5.
-
I'd say it's up there around 12 ish. Footage couldn't be worse though!

There is skill in lading a big drop smooth, I know he didn't lol, but it's hardly Josh Bender. Any really good trials rider can land big drops much smoother than someone not as good, you can only get the right technique by doing big drops, it's not all balls. Just because you can do 7 feet smoothly doesn't mean you can do 10+ feet smoothly. I used to love a huge drop, but I did them less and less then my technique just went to shit. Plus to a lot of people it's not worth a broken ankle, some don't mind! There's also no way that's 14ft 9

The split link is just easier for them to fit when it's built, it should be alright for a while, but the Arcade comes with pretty hard gearing so that's gotta make it a bit worse too. I'd try and ponce a couple of spare links off someone. Because your head angle's so steep you can afford to roll the bars back & still be good for front wheel stuff, slacker frames suffer a lot more with bars rolled back, front wheel vs bunny hop ultimatum.
-
1. I have 50psi ish in the back and about 45psi in the front. But I have Contis, I used to have Holy Rollers and they're no good for low pressures, I'd advise 40+, I hated harder tyres at first too but you get used to it. With those sidewalls you can't afford to run them anywhere near the average trials pressure. 2. Just try them at an angle that you know is too far back or forward for you, then move tiny amounts, less than 1mm until you cover every possibility and find the angle you like. In my opinion big bars like these feel horrible leant forwards, but it works for a few people. As a general rule I have them as far forward as I can before the bunny hop is affected, with the rise straight up or a bit leant back back. 3. With such a good chain why use a split link? You're creating the only weak link.
-
Then they should do it more!
-
I know, and so are nearly all modern brakes, except Hope...

M810 Saints from new should last ages as long as you're not doing stupid things to them that break them. I've had mine 18 months from new and they're perfect. Buying used is another story, there's usually only one reason people sell Saints, because they broke them, I've bought used Saints to find out they're leaking, don't forget they're 5 years old now. I'd rather buy Saints every 3 or 4 years than use a Hope for 10 years, lever blade flapping in the wind. I also don't like the fact Hope wont get with it & use post mount calipers.
-
Cost cutting eh? lol. Seriously though...what are we all gonna do when all the M810s are broken and gone? Shimano looks to be going the stubby lever route, I don't like Hopes, Avids don't fill me with confidence.

How come he stopped using them?
