    Seat Angle

Tilting it up opens yourself up to more anal catastrophes, worst case scenario I know, but I think it also looks a bit shit, it looks shit on a bmx and even worse on a trials bike, personal preference. Two of these look wrong, and one looks right...
  2. I think you wanna be light and flexible more than anything, strength's not really a big issue unless you rely on it to make up for lack of technique, or if you have both in excess and make the absolute most of it (Damon, TRA). Free running's probably one of the best bases you could have.
  3. Yeah get is as close as you can. Mine's about 0.5mm.
  4. What Ross said, might just be the angle but those calipers look really high on the rotor, what's the caliper / rotor clearance?
  5. A lot of wire wool, Autosol and worn hands.
  6. Looks great! Thought I was the only one with Brave Machine rims.
  7. Cheers, I PM'd you a link. If you're right, would that involve taking all my strings and pickups out? I wanna try and rule anything out before I do that, cheers.
  8. Anyone know anything about active EMG pickups and compatibility with leads/cables? Bought an Ibanez RGT6EXFX which comes factory fitted with EMG 81 & 60 active pick ups. I've tried 3 brand new Duracell batteries so it's not that, the pickups just sound like battery's dead, there's no punch coming from the sound, it's all weak, I read that mono & stereo leads can make a difference but I've never heard of this, the guitar is factory standard so I thought any lead should work. I don't know anything about electrics but any ideas? I have 3 leads but they're all mono, so I don't have a stereo one to try, would that be my problem? One of my other guitars has had the same pickups fitted and that works perfectly.
  9. I like the look of the Warlocks, never had one but they seem to get decent reviews. I only have pointy rock/metal guitars so I don't know much about Fenders & the more classic stuff. Depends what you wanna play. I paid £140 for my Ibanez RG370DX and it's brilliant. £500 is way overkill unless you want brand new.
  10. That's a lot of weight! How tall are you? I'm 92kg (200lb) which is pretty heavy compared to the typical trials whippet. I really don't like tyres too hard, I stop about 45, maybe 50 in the back, so I can't really comment on them at big pressures. Sidewalls have gotta be better than anything else out there though!
  11. Yeah they're a right b*****d to get seated properly, mine aren't perfect and most people have noticed the same.
  12. Not really any worse, just pointless for trials and a bit of extra weight. Maybe a bit harder to bend because they're thicker than standard rotors.

5mm max ideally, you can go 7.5 if you have to, as long as the left arm clears the frame and there's enough of the right hand bb cup in the frame.
  14. For comparison, saints are about 900g, slx xt and deore are all roughly 600.
  15. I think just bare arms and axle, the slx are about 7 grams heavier than xt. If you Google image crank weight someone somewhere has weighed pretty much every crank.
  16. I did hate the grey and polished finish though, didn't go with anything!
  17. Rims will be fine, but cranks that light is asking for it. I had this convo with Ali recently, and personally I'm not gonna bother with anything Shimano unless it's Saints. Then again if you're really light and don't do much then they could be ok. Xtr stuff was never made for heavy use, you'd probably be better off with SLX, I've seen a few trials riders use them and they're still only 600g. Had a set myself for a little while. Deores have a bit of a cheap & nasty look but they'll probably last most people a while. I just don't like how hollow they are at the back. But if you're heavy, have your tyres rock hard and don't mind a big drop then why risk a broken ankle?

None. Only issues will be from freewheel hubs where you have no choice where the sprocket sits. On a Hope you can go central or a good 10 - 15 mm either way.
  19. The frame is irrelevant, the parts sit the same no matter what bike they're on. Even if you're using the exact same cranks and hub as him, which I doubt. You're probably just making do with a chain line that he's not happy with.
  20. I think it's the Hollowtech and Freewheel combination. You don't really see it on street bikes, all the Inspired bikes with freewheels come with Isis bb/cranks, and I'm guessing they're at least 118mm, probably 128mm which is not a mountain bike friendly size. Hollowtech is made for mountain bikes but doesn't have the longer axle option unless it's a big dh bike with an 83mm shell. I'm assuming you're already using 2 spacers on the drive side of the bb? If so I think it's probably just the Hollowtech/freewheel combo. Freewheels put the sprocket pretty far out on the hub, where on a freehub body you'd have the sprocket half way in or further. Your sprocket probably sits a good 20mm further out than mine.
  21. With an IS caliper (Hope) I don't think you'll be able to get around it. Even with a post mount & adaptor your front bolt is about 10mm lower than it should be so that'll need spacing up without spacing the rear. Can't see it working, and even if it did I don't think it'll last long. Deepest sympathies.
  22. It really kills me inside when people go too ride their bike too the riding place.
  23. I had it painted to match my bike.
