  1. But Truvativ cranks on a £2500 Skye are just fine? The Hope's all flashy & machined but a Trialtech's probably stronger, plus I hate m5 threads.

I've heard quite a few comments about m820's from trials riders, none of them good. There's a reason everyone sticks with the old ones. Deore/Slx aren't even in the same league as the M810! Those short stubby levers are the opposite of what trials riders are after.
  3. Thicker tubes won't have any impact on how hard it is to chuck a bike about, it's aluminum, it has to be thicker than a steel frame, and as aluminium goes the tubes aren't unusually thick, it's just well made. The bombproof comes from it having through axles instead of bolts or skinny skewers, a big tapered headtube, chunky wheels, oversized steerer. Nice bike! I much prefer seeing owner pics to the catalogue ones.
  4. I like it, looks a weird stem choice though, are you really tall?
  5. Yeah. any extra length you go for on the wheelbase will only be added to the top tube. everything else will stay the same.
  6. Inspireds frames are really strong, but I think a Marino will outlast a Fourplay, especially your mk1. I had my old one for over 2 years and really trated it quite badly, no problems. Not many people have Skyes and Arcades are too new to know anything about but they're all really strong frames, I wouldn't be worried about breaking any. It's a short frame like a Skye and will be much less roomy than your Fourplay, yours is the oldest and longest one. My 24" Marino weighs about 4.6 lbs if I remember, which is lighter than Fourplays & Skyes, and I reckon an Arcade is a bit heavier too. About the cramped thing.....he's a custom frame builder so you can order anything you like. The head angle's 1 degree steeper than a Skye so you'll get a little bit more room and things will be better on the front wheel.
  7. The frame finished all in with express (7-10 days) postage will translate to roughly £250, with slow postage it'll be a bit less. Marino pretty much does just custom frames, there's not a range or anything, the Archive's sort of a one off that he's made a few of, I think that's the only one he sells off the shelf.
  8. I hear he's had a few back from heat treating ready to paint.
  9. It's a 90 x 10 Hope, same stem you asked about on Andre's bike.
  10. Some clips there definitely belonged in the full vid. My ONLY gripe with the main vid was the song, other than that, both amazing, can't get my head around that front wheel control.
  11. I reckon there was probably a foam/airbag landing, doesn't look like he flipped quite far enough. Bit like Sean Watson's one at the end of his GETcreative 2 vid. Still, sod that on any bike, let alone THAT one.
  12. Yeah, that's the bad thing about Shimano, and the good thing about Hope.
  13. No one likes the levers (really short) and the lack of adjustment.
  14. Why m820? The m810 are much better for trials.
  15. No, I basically pump the lever fast & slow for 15 minutes + with the cap off, it's not as good as a proper bleed but I haven't got a bit of tube for the bleed nipple yet. Get every single little bubble out, some take forever to come up, but when they do you'll feel the difference.
  16. I wouldn't bother. That's really impractical. Do it by the book. You bleed this from the lever out through the caliper. I do the top up & lever pump thing, I've spent a good 15 minutes on it before just pulling the lever until every last bubble comes out, even a little bit of air will make it feel like shit. But you wanna get a tube for the bleed nipple & bleed it like a motorbike brake, fluid in top, watch fluid come out the tube from the caliper until it's clear.
  17. Looks like on the same fork the latest Hex will have 10mm more wheelbase over the original, all in the top tube. Both bikes have 5mm wb difference but the newer forks are 5mm straighter.
  18. f**k, that's really sad if that's the case. Amazing video.
  19. Shimano discs are just really really good discs. Don't use crappy rotors with Saints, only use Shimano. None of us go anywhere near fast enough to need the heat dissipation, the hollowed out full of holes Hope/Echo types are more for weight loss & won't give you the power of a Shimano rotor, more metal the better.
  20. They have an aluminum spider so they're a bit lighter than full steel ones, plus they look cool. Plus if you hit them I reckon the full steel ones are gonna be stronger.
  21. Ice look great but you won't find cheap ones anywhere, if you're not up for paying £50 for a pair of rotors then the old XT work just as well, that's what I use. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shimano-Deore-Xt-RT76-disc-brake-rotors-pair-180mm-6-bolt-/141127911627?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item20dbe108cb
  22. My mate's got an MT2 on the front , got it new with the right 180 rotor, it's very average.
  23. God I remember Bashguard.com! I was on there once or twice. It's a shame most sites like that have gone.
