  1. Who's ever waited 6 months? I don't know of anyone who's ever waited 6 months. Us latest lot waited 4-5 months, this is because Marino took on way too much work which has been discussed 1000 times, he came on here, apologised etc etc... My other 5 frames all took 2.5 to 3 months. He also had to send all the frames & forks to a seperate heat treating place (Jaf doesn't offer heat treating so he doesn't have to wait for that) This could go on forever, it's old. At the end of the day..... From what I remember someone here paid about £340 all in for a Jaf, you'll get it quicker, it won't be heat treated. A Marino will cost you around £230 ish, will take longer, and WILL be heat treated. Choice is yours. The end.
  2. They look like the same blocks one of the Coustelliers was screaming on.
  3. Last move.... Probably the least predictable move I've seen since a frontflip off a castle. Didn't really think that was possible.
  4. With Avids I think a lot of it's luck, I've bought a couple of real shitters before, but my Juicy 5 is pretty decent for what it is. I got a good rotor & some ebc pads & it's probably as good as the brake's gonna get. At the end of the day they're mid range mountain bike brakes.
  5. I think Inspireds all just look a bit samey now, they all look identical so they don't really stand out to me. This does, it's weird & different. Everyone who has one seems to ride it really well too.
  6. They've always been my favourite production 24". I love the disc mount, graphics are cool too.
  7. Yeah Stansted's the closest, it's 25-30 min drive from Barrow.
  8. Bare in mind the size of the things Ali does and the type of things he does. They're not weak bars at all, I've snapped RS7 cranks, doesn't make them weak.
  9. Nope, and I've even got the Extreme channel!
  10. I hardly ever watch DH, but that was f**king epic!
  11. A legend, for all the wrong reasons... The question is, will him land to the water?
  12. Yeah, to me the brakes and rear hub are 2 of the most important parts. A shimano hub has 16 engagement points, a Hope pro2 has 48, even an old Hope xc has 21 or 24, and a Bulb has 36. But yeah 16 is not enough, it'll transform the bike. Just find a used fully built wheel with the hub you want.
  13. You WOULD benefit from shortening the chain & getting a short cage mech though.
  14. 16-18t is definitely not for everyone, on 26" wheels with 22-16 you're gonna get nowhere from a standstill. I've always used 22-19, the same as Ryan Leech. He has a mech & a cassette full of gears so it's pointless locking out certain gears unless he's ditching the mech/shifter/cassette.
  15. It's perfect, don't touch it!
  16. Probably the best looking thing I've ever seen. I don't really like any of the custom Skye's except Ben Travis' blue one, but this is the winner.
  17. Great riding, big balls. I think the song & camera work weren't so good, camera man was pretty off/too close & spoiled a few good moves, especially at 2min 20.
  18. Ambitious? That's an absolute bargain!
  19. 22-18 on a 24" is the same as 22-19 on a 26" which is what I use.
  20. Yeah I think the 70x25 is fine for the original Fourplay or the Inspired prototype which have quite a bit more reach, but for something close to a Skye I think it's too short, I think height comes into it a bit too. I'm 6ft, but if I was 5ft 8 I'd probably find the 90x35 a bit better. My 26" has the same stem, felt the best again, but my 26" is looking more like TRA's Hex than I expected. I just try & sample as many bars & stems as possible The geo on my old 24" was a bit dated & I needed a bit of bounce in the tyres to let me hop it properly, to the point where the tyre would almost fold on the preload for a 360, this frame's so different though, hard pressures don't really take anything away from the preload. Thanks again though! I'll film properly soon & visit some new places.
  21. Cheers! I finally chose the Ritchey comp 90x30, it's a fairly long 90mm if that makes sense, the Trialtech's stack was too high and I couldn't get that final 5mm stacker under it that I needed, also the 35deg pulled the bars just slightly too close, as my frame's reach is pretty much the same as a Skye. I think the super steep stems are better for the not so super short frames. I'm definitely not fully comfortable on it yet, rear disc for the 1st time in 16 years takes some getting used to. I think I'll do bigger better things on the 24", but I think the gap drops/front wheel gaps etc will always be a little bit easier on the 26". But the super tight flicky geo has made riding with hard tyres feel ok, I've never liked super hard tyres but it just feels right on that bike. I'm gonna try & use both equally though, but after riding the 24" the Trialtech Hi rise bars on my 26" feel almost flat!
  22. Cheers! It's Tesco car park in Pitsea, under the A13. Ridden there on & off since 1997!
  23. Cheers! Gonna start filming some proper moves soon. It's quite neutral in the flesh, I think pictures make it look a lot brighter than it is.
  24. A few rough clips, filmed in about 20 minutes. second ride on the bike, just making sure everything's working, it is.
