  1. I've not once had a pencil torch, even my draper one, keep a flame properly... Good luck!
  2. They are for me? Refreshed too! It would - can see a multitude of amazing lines!
  3. New Addington, south london. http://www.standard....ry-8212824.html High street boulders evening standard. First search result. 4. Blizzard conditions all night in Fort William... Lots of hooning about in a £50 corsa ensued!
  5. I'd make what I've spent, and a little bit more - hence why I made the journey down for it! Guy I bought it from is sending up a fuel pump free of charge now though after some persuasion - happy chappy!
  6. That nice cheap £2400 van? Well, it's now cost me over £3500 Van - £2400 Fuel - £100 Train down to brum £100 Recovery from Moffat £600 Fuel for the lift from Moffat home £100 Hour in the garage on the diagnostics machine £50 High pressure fuel pump - £300 Truly f**king gutted. Might just sell her on as soon as she's sorted I think!
  7. Oil slicks in the sea ARE self cleaning, thats the problem... it causes all the oil to seperate and then float, leaving a skin rather than oil in the water, its this that then suffocates most animals... Get it wet dude, chuck a load of salt on it then leave it for a few hours or for the rain! If that doesn't work - get a can of spray degreaser...
  8. Guys... Guys... I'm home! At last... Ahh life. Van broke down just north of Annandale Water service station a couple of minutes after stopping for a coffee at 1am this morning. Called my recovery service (who'll be being ditched after last night) They came out, an hour later, then proceeded to tell me they can only take me 10 miles, any further will be £2.50 a mile... Meaning a grand total of £864 + Vat to get home. Old dear came down to give me a lift home, she was with me at 5am - I'd been sat in the van in -3c until then! Never been so happy to see a warm car in my life. Ditched the van in a free car park for now. Shall be going down with a mates transporter tommorow to pick it up, get it back to mine and I'll get it sorted! Massive thanks to Ed for the lift out to Kings Norton, much appreciated! After being on a train all day, the last thing I wanted to do was try and make a connection one minute after my train arrived due to delays, then walk from the station to the van in the pissing rain, and dark, without a clue where I'm going. Props dude! Next time your up with work, give us a shout - there's a bottle of scotch waiting!
  9. Decided to pick up the van tonight, and kip in the van... However - still needing a lift from Brum new street to Kings norton... Will pay fuel and a little extra if anyone is available - text or call me - 07429835632
  10. Hey all, I know I'm not really a regular on here - but I have a massive favour to ask... Could anyone perhaps pick me up from Birmingham new street station, tommorow evening, put me up for the night (dont mind floors) and either drop me off, or put me in direction of the right bus to Kings Norton? I've got to pick a van up first thing tuesday morning, but there's no way down from Scotland in time! Would expect to pay fuel ect! Regards, Jamie
  11. B16 - allspeed frame... Cant get it running atm due to a dodgy dizzy, but when it did run, it drove really well on a little test drive! Handles just like a mini, and the power delivery is very simillar to an a-series with lairy cam- all at the top end, and you never seem to reach full throttle!
  12. Have a picture of Kermit - think I've hidden the honda lump pretty well! Going to shove some fine mesh behind the grill, just to hide the engine a bit more! Front end needs a proper paint job, but waiting for my arches and everything first...
  13. Danny - Its possible to leave the original mini loom intact, I know its pricey, but minitec offer a b or d series loom, straight from engine to ecu... On that comes all the wiring for using a minitec dash (they do 'a-series style' dashes which actually work off the honda senders. All you need to do is provide an earth, a switched live, a permanant live and the fuel pump from the honda main relay. Sorted!
  14. NFU! Phone for a quote at the end of the month... I ride mototrials, cant do that with a car Yeah, they're not exactly speed demons - but they handle bloody well for the size, and will sit at 85/90mph happily while still doing 35-40mpg!
  15. Look at the time that was posted - I knew what I meant! Stop down jardo, stop down...
  16. As for cheap insurance - buy a van... I'm insured, on my own policy, on a 1.9 turbo vauxhall vivaro. Fully comp. At 17, with no no claims. For £600 a year. Commercial vehicles are VERY cheap to insure.
  17. Anybody used cheapy wireless flash triggers? From the likes of ebay for example? What they like, and what ones do you have? I need to control 3 speedlites with them!
  18. I'm not gonna lie - in photographic terms - it's not a good photo. Its cluttered, theres no real focal point, and the crop seems a bit odd... BUT! I Like it... The path leads the eye in nicely, albeit to nothing inparticular - but as you say - the setting is lovely! It's nice. Try taking a few steps back, but higher, not so close to the ground - the effect of taking a few steps back will keep you at the same angle to the scene... Open up your lens a bit to say, f22 to get more in focus, and try and line up the wooden posts so they hide eachother, so it looks less cluttered and post up!
  19. Yeah, I can claim on insurance, but the van was only valued at £1000 - with my excess i'd only get £500 - Instead, I'm going to find a cheap one with a blown engine, and swap my engine/box over! Police turned out, they have in car footage of their response - they passed the car on the single track, so are trying to trace it, but it was on foreign plates.
  20. Yeah, the recovery agent tried telling me that it was a write off anyway - went mad when I saw how they were lifting it - especially as I'd put it back on its wheels and driven it to a point where it would of been a straight tow up an embankment rather than having to lift it - its f**ked both the doors!
  21. Road was dry when I crashed jardo, rain started about 15 minutes after crashing - and it's actually quite a long sweeping bend, looks bad from the angle its at - i'll get some pics from a different angle - I didnt lose it, i took for the verge deliberately. Cant remember how to link directly to street view - but head east on here http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=A861&daddr=Achaphubuil,+Highland+PH33,+UK&hl=en&sll=56.84453,-5.172144&sspn=0.001256,0.004128&geocode=FfFgYwMdPRSx_w%3BFVY8YwMd5o-x_ynNUFGUQcuOSDGIgiXvqxr9ag&t=h&mra=mift&mrsp=0&sz=19&z=19 - if it wasnt for a guy flying at me at the speed he was, 45 would of been adequate. Yes, i'll take the rap and say I should be prepared for idiots too, so 50 was possibly too much, but had the person not been doing 60mph plus, we would of been able to stop and reverse to a passing place. The guy obviously knew he was in the wrong as he stopped and carried on again without checking on us or anything. Anyway, not going to debate who's in the right, who's in the wrong - case is, it's happened, and as of which, I'm without transport again - so it'll be taken into account in the future on that road. Even the police report says it wasn't a case of excess speed or anything though, as the verge isnt even torn up. They put it down to the verge collapsing underneath me, which it appears to of done as I went down today to check it out with a clear mind... It had been undermined and gave way while I was on it! When upside down, I was suspended between two rocks, so no damage to the actual roof panel itself - but the rails running either side of the roof are both damaged, even on the side that didnt take any impact, so they can of only come from that. If you look at the bonnet, the forward roll was where the damage there came from - as its rolled over the front, taking the headlights out, bending the bonnet, and then it's gone up and rolled all along the pillar, and onto the roof rails before going onto its side. It's really proved to me though, these things are built like tanks - if I was in a car, it would of been a completely different story - the only REAL damage is the panel damage on the side, bonnet, and the wishbone! I know I probably shouldnt, due to there being damage to the roof pillars, but I'm going to try and get her back on the road - will take a good look at her tommorow - the chassis is still all straight!
  22. Yeah guys - I'm fine... This is the most annoying part! Was heading down towards Lochaline to get the ferry to Mull for the rally this weekend... Came round a bend 40/45 mph to be met by some fanny flying at me - I decided the speed he was doing I'd rather take for the grass than hit him. Took for the grass, locked up and went off the edge. Took the front left wishbone out, which yanked the steering out my hands which through me straight into a boulder, caught the front end and somersaulted me length ways (not speed, bear in mind the van was almost vertical due to going over the edge anyway, landed on the roof and rolled onto its side. All pretty much a blur if i'm honest - both got away unscathed though, which would be a completely different story if I'd chosen the other option and hit him. He must of been on 65/70, would of been a mess. knows he was in the wrong as he shouted something and drove off as I was trying to climb out the passenger door... Managed to get it back on it's wheels and drove it along the shore, as the tide was coming in... Ended up being a recovery job though, as there was a 5/6 foot drop that there was no way she'd come back up...
  23. Need to work on my parking skills a little... Hmm. Maybe an extended mirror or something.
  24. You're not paying twice... Would you go to garage, get your bike/car inspected, and told whats wrong... Then expect them to fix it for nothing? No - you still need to pay for the stuff to fix it... Same as healthcare!
  25. Saw the plates before I saw who posted, fifty6 shot right out at me! Looks good!
