cones were perfectly tight. Just destroyed itself because of the cheap design. Sealed bearings should be standard imo
-
to put it one way, my mate used to run a trialtech race open rear hub. That was ruined in less than a week from new. At the other end, my mate nathan has an old echo sealed hub thats about 4 years old and has been through several riders and is still super smooth.

its just a tidier package in general. Ive found that everyone riding stock i ride with runs an 18t freewheel and 15t rear sproket. Pretty standard gearing but nice. And yeah is defo cheaper than king/ burns setup
-
mine will once i get rid of this disc and get a maggie or vee on. Kinda want to try vee, with some inspired phat clears on.
-
Yeah a 24" would be the way to go. More of a bmxish type feel to them, while being able to perform trials type moves. Brakes wise Id say front disc (Avid BB7), and rear Vee or Magura with a set of decent pads

Cheers mate. See you all up there!

Too many of these topics Use the search bar or scroll through the forum and FAQ's

Not considered the Trialtech sport 26" ? This rim fills your criteria well; Holds a grind well, Is strong And quite light too. If that doesnt appeal to you then the Echo TRs are definately a good choice
-
they are the full wheels mate, front and rear. Both come with cartridge sealed bearings on Echo TR disc hubs, which are brilliant. You will need a new rear screw on sproket too. quality wheels imo. Worth ever penny

im moving to the SL in january but keeping my Tensile for when the stock gets built.
-
The guy said he didint have enough money for an SL, so would buy the tensile. He asked wether he should get the V!z or the Tensile, SL not involved. And Tensiles are good enough freewheels. Ive run one for 2 years with no problems, and Im an intermaedate rider. He's going through the learning stage, doing the basics ect. Ive rebuilt his freewheel now anyway and is fine. His tensile will last him years

shouldnt they make a rotor with symetrical arms then? If the rotors are designed to take forces when moving forwards but not backwards, surely the stress on the rear rotor ( when going up to back wheel, gaps ect. ) would mean it would crack over time? I had a monty rotor that had been put on the wrong way round, and that cracked quickly. But with another the right way it was fine for ages. I think theres a rotor with symetrical arms that comes with the Try-All edition Hope Mono Trial. That would take up the stress both forward and backwards. And the rotor in the photo is the correct way round.

small block 8. For front tyre width 2.1 is plenty wide enough. Good tyre too. Good grip and light
-
couldnt agree more. In my eyes, even though disc is good, nothing comes close to a well set up maggie.
-
pretty much the same, just different CNC work done. Both as good as each other.
-
front freewheel setups can generaly work out cheaper than a decent rear hub too. For the price of a chris king rear hub you could buy almost and if not everything for a forward freewheel set up. And with freewheels like the Echo SL 108 I cant see the reason for going to rear freehub. 1. The weight is more centralised on the bike. 2. You can run a smaller ratio, meaning smaller rings, meaning higher ground clearance underneath the freewheel. 3. Is cheaper. Im not changing to any other

amazing frames. Look great, ride great and are strong to boot. Theres not much to the frame itself but i think the minimalist approach works really well. Buy one
-
To me it looks like the rear wheel has been sprayed white without masking off the spokes giving it the cool effect. Does look good though, will be solid too, like its bigger brother
-
after trying both discs and magura, id be happy with either I mostly ride TGS (my bad ) and have found double magura to be my prefered set up with very slight modulation up front with good hold when i want it, and outright power and lock on the rear, though i happen to be running disc up front due to forks. For natural however im all for discs. Riding in an environment with water, mud and general crap doesnt inspire confidence or offer consitant performance with hs33, unless you manage some amazing pad, rim, grind combo. Discs offer the right performance, look good and work the same in the wet and muddy conditions found in natural. At the end of the day its all preferance Which is why im going to be building my new TGS aimed stock double maggie/ front vee, and my current TGS slash natural mod double maggie too, because i like it best

very good boosters, and both nice looking too. I would choose the trialtech however. I think they look nicer, are very stiff and solid too. The urban boosters are very good too, not as good looking imo, but are stiff and come in a choice of colours to suit your scheme

Hey mate, Ive had to sort out my mates cones on his onza Pro wheelset a few times but they are still ok. With an open bearing that uses cones, they will inevitably come loose from time to time. Just keep checking them and all should be good However if the bearings are destroyed then yes I would recommend moving to sealed bearing hubs. Both my hubs are sealed bearings and have been running my rear Echo TR hub and front Hope Pro 2 for around a year with no issues at all, still silky smooth. And as for where and what to get parts wise, I would choose nowhere other than Tartybikes. Brilliant service, reliable and very helpfull should any inquirys arise. As for parts the Echo TR complete wheels are brilliant. Would look good on the Pro too. Echo TR front 20" complete Echo TR rear 19" complete

Yeah that helps, I'l clean out the grind with a wire brush and see how things go. It was my first grind too so went easy with it as I didnt want to chop my rim in two! Have managed to get hold of a few old mtb rims so will practice my grinding technique on them first Thanks for the help guys
-
Need to know, it might just have been my grind but Im not too sure :/
