    Probably a mixture. I hope.

    Chairs.

Quarantine may be making me horribly immature, but I chuckled at the thought of your wife making you a seat strap-on to get your joystick into the correct position between your thighs.

I see we've arrived at that point where I can say: "As I said, it's no use comparing to other countries." again. Switzerland is also set to slowly slacken the measures next week, but this tells you nothing at all about any other countries. Edit: Read article, can't see what needs to be explained.

I'm not going to read the site again - but if I remember right it, for instance, compares numbers from one country and compares with those, something that really can't be done in the current situation since every country is reacting differently. Seems like proof that the measures are actually working. I don't think there's really a country in Europe that is sitting back and not doing anything at all, from which you could compare data with. I know that 90% of people that died the ward my friend ward oversees would not have passed this year, bar for freak accidents. These however probably are occurring less now since people ought to be staying home, so lack of freak accidents (I have no data on this- this is me thinking aloud) may be compensated by virus deaths. Also 10% passing due to the virus appear to have had no previous illness, regardless of age. (govt press conference late last week) Now if you were not take any measures you'd just get more people suffocating at home and of top of that more people actually catching the virus. Simples. I don't feel like that would be very ethical. If you take them to get treatment their chances of recovery rise. They probably wouldn't have had these chances at home which would result in more deaths. But yeah, statistics may say that the mortality rate is still the same, by comparing apples and oranges (horrible analogy - I do enjoy both of these fruits ) If you want to go too much into detail on mortality rates you can just as well not look at them at all since inevitably everyone dies, and if it doesn't matter how or when there's no need for any kind of statistics on it at all. All my info is country specific since there's no use (to me) to look at any info/news from other countries since all are handling the situation differently so I can't really address your points very well. I also feel like there's absolutely no use in comparing countries right now since everyone is taking different measures, all have different degrees of f**ked up governments, all inhabitants have different mentalities that react to stuff differently. afaik that doesn't look too bleak over here currently. I mean, in the UK you seem to have lovely retirement homes, here you go into one to vegetate so I can't comment on this fairly. This would be way worse with no measures but okay? (also luckily not an issue here) Time will tell on this one. Again very country specific.. Can't comment on this one either, but these suicides surely would show up in the mortality rate graph above?.. Probably in neighbourhoods where you've got bigger chances of getting shot than catching a virus? No one in being "imprisoned" in countries that haven't lost control. Funnily enough these seem to have questionable governments to start with.

Known here as the page of one sided facts/opinions. There's so many points being ignored and graphs being misinterpreted on that page, at least as of last week when I stumbled upon it.

I don't know how high our fines are, but you can be jailed up to three years here, though I can't imagine what you'd have to have done for that! But it's there and I don't think many people want to push it. We'reallowing meetings of groups of 5 with a 2m distance (feels like the 10ft barge pole reinvented ) and most people seem to be following that.

I think it's costing me about £150 a week.. Managed not to pull the trigger on a mountain bike yet, simply because I'm not sure if I can get through all my current projects before the lockdown is over over here. People are getting impatient and thinking we should be let out again, but the amount of people currently tested positive daily over here only means that it's stable, not under control.. It's not helping that 90% of the days have been sunshine and loads of people are out, but at least most seem to be keeping their distance. Still, until there's so few cases that one can again start checking where they contracted and who they've met etc. the lockdown technically shouldn't end. .. It seems to be getting more people back onto TF though!
  9. Cheers Adam, you're right! Mike, I once sat on a 29er, rode about 50m and told myself that I don't ever need to experience that again. I really don't quite get the craze about them! Also, winstanleys manage to ship frames to Switzerland for five quid. How on earth is that possible?!
  10. Hi guys, I'm suddenly have a massive itch to get a new mtb for whatever reason. I'd like full suspension and a steel frame. Yup, lots of options.. Just looking to have a laugh with it in woodlands, town and that new air pad thingy they set up nearby, not anything more serious. I've currently got a Stevens Glide ES from 2008 that's been in the cellar for 5 years now due to the brakes pissing all over the disks after fixing them countless times, until I got fed up. The frame is prone to cracking apparently and I don't trust it anymore at any rate. Initially I was hoping to find something I could use the parts I've got and still are usable but I've realised that literally everything has a new standard by now. I'm not sure how I'd get on with 27.5" wheels and 29" is completely out of question. SO: I found the DMR Bolt frame which looks quite nice and also seems to carry a reasonable price. There's also a serviced pair of Fox 36 170mm forks on a auction site for a nice price, but they're 27.5. I realised that my current 26" wheels wouldn't fit right away, but if I'd decide to stay with 26" is there any massive downside to using that combo? Are bikes with 27.5 wheels much less flicky or is that all my imagination? I'm just a bit hesitant to move too far away from my 24" arcade as I've always felt most comfortable on 24" as a kid with a 24" mountain bike as well as with the Inspireds. Does anyone have any other frame recommendations/ideas for me? I'd like to keep the budget as low as possible and am happy to get used parts too, but I do want a new frame that will last me a while in case I decide to stand it in a corner for another 5 years down the line. Cheers
  11. Done did it. Also congratulations, you got me to fund something for the very first time!
  12. Thanks a lot for your suggestions I've been completely swamped with school stuff so didn't get round to do anything with it yet. The rest of the lathe is okay I think. At least okay enough for what I need it for (acrylics and the odd steel spacer). Being a bar bed the bed could technically be replaced fairly easily too.
  13. Yup. Got hold of a lathe to do up and wanted to tackle the motor but as I turned it on its side I noticed oil suddenly dripping off the cable. Connecters all are soaked and opening it I found the pictured scene. There's a little planetary gearbox that goes on the outside that regularly needs to be filled with oil, but I can't quite see how this much could have got into the motor itself? Suppose the oil isn't conductive I guess it shouldn't be much of an issue? Should I try cleaning it up or let it be? I literally know nothing about electric motors, but enough that they don't usually leak oil. I'd bin the thing but a friends boss gave me a nice frequency converter for free for it and I'd feel a bit bad not using it at all.
  14. A month late but I can't let this slide, we don't want that crowd either! (what did we do!?)
  15. Thanks for the heads up, looks like you can ever stream their stuff now!

I need to make myself a new workbench to accommodate a new lathe, but before I can show you anything I'll best ask a question or two. There's a wardrobe that needs to come away to make room and I thought I'd best got for an L shape resulting in more storage for the things that are in the wardrobe under the workbench, and enough space to expand with more tools etc. I was thinking of box section steel and some kind of wood top, dropped (and bolted) into steel angle. It'd be very nice to have it all welded but I don't think that's possible. Obviously I'd make two rectangular tables, not an L shaped one, but I don't believe it'd be possible to get it down the stairs and round the corner in one bit, and I can pack my things if I try welding anything inside the house. Maybe, just maybe I could get it in with the legs welded onto the top, leaving just the bottom struts/shelf to be bolted on. Or I bolt everything together but I'm not sure if it'd be rigid enough? Has anyone got any other ideas? Measurements are below.
  17. .. Just found out that nothings even been sent yet. What do you reckon are the chances that I accidentally got sent the wrong frame and there are no papers to this one and thus it's not being sent? There's no use losing my patience but I am.
  18. Not sure if my motorbikes original log book, v5c got lost in the post on the way to me, the seller didn't send it after all or if it's simply taking ages.. Been waiting for him to finally send it (along with more parts that he found) for months and he told me he'd send the docs seperately. Should have been posted on the 26th. Nothing usually takes this long..

Right, I've used it now. Brushed it on, barely any brush marks visible (and I'm really bad at painting) Can also be put through an airbrush. Feels very nice too, hardly smells. https://www.letonkinoisvarnish.co.uk/varfaq.html (faq is mostly for use with wood, but if you search 'metal' it'll show stuff too.)

I bought myself 'Le Tonkinois' varnish for the oil tank of my motorbike. Found someone using it on raw bicycle frames and that seems to hold up brilliantly. Haven't used it myself yet though.
