Onza Zoot Or Ashton/diamondback Effect
Carlperkins replied to mdstampy's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
zoot definatley. -
ive hit that low point in trials abit too... i had a little low point where i thought i was never gonna get the hang of it, then it suddenly clicked and i could pedal kick, that opened it all up again and ive been able to do more stuff.. now i really need to learn pedal ups, big drop offs and 180/360 spins, as soon as they click i spose things will get a whole load more interesting and new lines will open up. its just the time it takes to learn it, takes its toll. i might try some brakeless like ali c sugested though, may make things a bit more interesting. plus where i live is pretty flat. and im abit too shit to ride what is here haha. practice..practice..practice...

i may well be up for it, ill have to see what im doing, and wether i can get to norwich. and wether i ge my front brake sorted by then. haha im a 70% yes at the moment.

sound plausible. i've got a massive sheet of stainless steel, if i can find out a way of making it into a shape that can bolt on behind the brake clamps and block the gap.. ill make 2 and send you one. got any good ideas? ill look at my forks tomorrow and see if i can come up with anything that may work, and not look too bad. if you come up with anything, draw a pic on paint and send me it. carlperkins001@hotmail.com

nice one, cheers. http://www.westfieldfasteners.co.uk/ - great site.

same problem, bought new echo urban forks and my foot gets stuck, i found that if you jam your foot at an angle it helps, but i want to make something similar too, was thinking about a booster cable tied to forks as mentioned above. if you find a soloution.. let me know?
-
i had the same problem with my tr clamps and brand new front forks. 1 side perfect and 1 side WAY out. ive bought normal clamps now and when they get here will try with cylinder washers and see if its any better. ... yeah im 95% sure its just because the mounts aren't straight.

ive never ridden with spd shoes and non-spd pedals. but the shimano's come with a rubber cover that you cut out to use the spd, i would have thought that if you dont cut it out the shoes would be fine. probably going to have a thicker sole which may reduce "feel" on the pedals. but grip should all be fine.

the 24" echo lite frame comes with 2 integrated chain tensioner's. they're pretty much 2 long grub screws with a 2.5mm allen key spot on the end. they always wobble loose and i have to tighten them up every day before i ride, but recently forgot and i've lost one now. anyone know where i can get them? cant find 'em on tartybikes.
-
shimano am 40, non spd. mine lasted a year so far and still good condition, soles are starting to wear now. only problem is that the rubber marks everything it touches, so if you scrape your shoe against your frame you get a big black line on it, comes off with wd40 though.

ignore me. wrong topic! haha.. what a pillac

yeah to be honest mate i think i've just been unlucky with them. too late now though, ill never go back to em' haha.

i would say as a general rule.. avoid halfords. EVERY time i either bought a mountain bike from there or a friend has, they are always shite, put together shite and when you complain and take it in to get it fixed they're shite and dont fix it. even a mate of mine who works there says that the bike techs are shite. ive been to 5 different halfords and they're ALL shite. but that is just my personal opinion. other than that, bike looks alright. if your doing mountain biking (blue or red trails) it will probably fall apart very quickly. youl need something a bit more robust. but if your riding on the road or slight offroad itll be fine.

a 180mm avid is mount will most likely do

how is that MORE of a waste of money? if he doesen't feel confident in trueing the wheel.. take it to a shop. he could put it all together and lace it in about 1 & 1/2 hours. better to pay a bike shop for 1 hours labour than 2 & 1/2. lol!

my mates got one, i think its good. light too.. looking to buy new? or second hand? because you can pick a good one up off ebay for £200-£250

Someone Want To Help Two Beginners Out Please?
Carlperkins replied to Fredm's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
first off i wouldn't buy a new one. its a buyers market for complete bikes at the moment. check the forums and ebay to get a cheap deal. it may not be the prettiest, and may need some TLC but as soon as you've learnt you'll want a new bike. i had a 2010 onza zoot from ebay for 4 months, and then upgraded. if your wanting to do a mix of street and rocks etc id recommend a 20" like an onza t pro. £200 on ebay for a good one. if your wanting street id go for a 24". like an older onza zoot or similar. i wouldn't worry about your height etc for choosing a bike. i never did an i'm fine. hope this helps fellas -
have you got a local bike shop? any bike shop can put a wheel together. its actually pretty easy to be fair, you can do 90% of the job and save a lot of money. just watch a video on youtube on how to lace a wheel, its literally just like following a pattern, then do up all the nipples by hand for a few threads.... then when its all built, just take it to a bike shop and they will tighten it all up and true it. (£15 max) getting it built by a bike shop is just a waste of money.
-
ebay. you looking for a 20", 24" or 26"?? or any will do? id say 2010 onza zoot 24" is a good starter and cheap on ebay. thats the one I went for. but if i could go back i would have just bought a frame and built it myself for the extra cost. as the zoot needs upgrades anyway. a onza t-pro is a good 20" to start on, can get one for about £200 on ebay, then £100 to upgrade bits. and im not too sure on 26" never really bothered with them.

i got one that was bled with maggy royal blood, i then cut down and re-bled with royal blood. second one i bought came bled with yellow-y oil, (piss colour) i cut down then re-bled with maggy royal blood. both are working great now with no leaks, but the pads are being eaten by the ground rims so ive just bought some tnn lgm's for the back and heatsink yellows for the front.
-
ive got one for sale if you want it? £25 posted. pics here.. http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/buysell/item/39-avid-juicy-3-2010-2-weeks-old-with-extras/ it was always good on mine, but swapped to 2011 hs33's now. It would be even stronger if run with a 203mm rotor too.
-
theyre alright. got an annoying bleed procedure though, why they couldn't keep the old way i don't know, the rear one is pretty strong but i need to get new pads to work with the ground rim. (mine are being eaten alive) the front one though, no matter how well i bleed it or set it up, it doesnt seem as strong. theyre still way better than the old disc brake i used to run though. yeah it is a nice frame, this is the upgrade on a 2010 zoot i had. the echo is so much nicer to ride.
