  1. Yeah, 36t all the way. I run 24:12 with 26" wheels and it's bang on. Same as running 25:9 with 20"
  2. Good point. Guess it just didn't feel right for George.
  3. Yeah, I have a tiny sachet of copper grease that I've had for about ten years. That's how often I feel the need to use it instead of moly grease.
  4. Found this in the G-sport archives. (you have to go part way down the article to get to the bit about the one way bearings) Not surprising George French has already tried it. http://www.gsportbmx.com/2005/01/click-click-click/ Sounds like it would be good for some people on here but maybe not if you like to do roll backs. Now starting to think twice about a hope trials hub for my street bike.
  5. Could have just offered advice like this in the first place? Ha ha, love the way you've gone through this whole thread calling everyone pussies and telling us all to man up and then come out with this. Classic!
  6. Don't suppose anyone cares if you wear goggles or not. Just don't go pushing your slack approach onto other people and think everyone's gonna say yeah, that's cool. Let's face it mixing caustic soda and making a cuppa is a pretty poor comparison. Tea won't blow up in your face if you mix it the wrong way round.
  7. Don't use goggles? This coming from someone who's trying to remove paint with caustic soda. May want to do some More research before dishing out the advice. Follow what Ali said and you should be alright. I had to almost fully dissolve a seatpost to get it out of a streel road bike once but it took about 3 days constantly immersed in the stuff to do it.
  8. You could still run a v but you'd have to run the cable down the fork leg and back on it's self. Then into the brake from underneath. Might take a bit of tweakin with the noodle.
  9. That looks awesome. Where'd you get the material from to make it?
  10. Cheers, It's a frame pad that's there for function more than anything. Think it looked better on my BMX Plan is to go for a clear coat on the Rocket eventually. Purple has got to go though. My mate saw it the other day n said "it looks like a trashy girls bike. Just needs tassels" Hate to say it but I think he's right. Will rattle can black over it as soon as possible
  11. My favourite's always been "your bikes shit mush, you's aven't even got gears and suspensions". Classic!
  12. Yeah, this is kind of typical of most powder coaters. To be fair to them they're not generally set up for small one off projects and there's not really enough money in shot blasting one frame to justify them spending half an hour replying to emails (although at £40 just for blasting they've got to be close). Best bet is to ring around a few places till you find someone who's willing to spend ten minutes of their time discussing the options and will do it for what you feel is a fair price.
  13. Probably your best bet would be to speak to a professional blaster. They should be able to discuss the options and what finish you will get from different media.
  14. Had some Ballistic forks that looked like that, back in the day. Lasted about a week I think. Would prefer a more classic straight blade design really.
  15. I can get behind half your point about the long stem but that's about it and even that is down to personal preference. I think these two points are absolute pure comedy gold!
  16. Shouldn't oxidise to badly if it's left raw, unless it's left out in the rain on a regular basis. Would have thought it'd go dull pretty quickly though, if you just blasted it. Would look better for longer if you polished it.
  17. I guess the reality is that if you drill a load of holes in them, you're going to reduce the overall strength to some degree. Probably depend on your riding style how likely they are to break. Bit of flex shouldn't be a problem. I've got a set of Campagnolo cranks that have been flexing since 1969 and they're still in one piece but they are on a road bike. Don't suppose they'd last long on my trials bike the way I ride it.
  18. Suppose if you keep everything nice n smooth they shouldn't break but might add some flex?
  19. How much weight do you reckon it'll save? Or is it for looks?
  20. Not really polished but I stripped the paint of mine. Booster was like that when I got it. Think it's been painted with chrome paint. Pretty poor though
  21. Rattle can paint jobs are okay (on my way home to spray my own frame) but don't expect it to be anywhere near as durable as the original especially on things like wheels.
  22. I run profile cranks so a slightly different setup but I always use thread locker on crank bolts and have never had a problem removing one.
  23. Sick! Really tempted to get one of these frames. does he do forks?
