I know what you mean, although I've got plenty of time this summer so I may get round to it. Wheels and tyres are usually the most time consuming parts - but I'd probably leave the wheels unlaced to save time.

Well, I've got the bulk of it done and rendered now, missing out the brake mounts as well Might add some disc mounts at some point. Chainstays were being awkward with such weird geometries and lofts. Here we are: And some nice blue paint I wanted something that looks pretty original, hence the weird seatpost and chainstays .

Just putting a few finishing touches to the chainstays - just trying to get some lofts that look half decent I'll post it as soon as it's rendered. Loving the 24" frame, looks nice and streety, I'm assuming it's designed for manufacture with steel.
  4. I broke my clavicle riding downhill a few years ago. It was a pretty big break (2.5cm gap) and took ages to heal properly, so I wasted a whole summer not being able to ride or do much. When I got back into biking I felt I'd lost a lot of confidence, especially doing big drops. After recently starting trials again after a 4 year break I'm re-learning things, but I wouldn't say I go for as much because I really don't want to risk breaking another bone (although I can't ride at the moment because of buggered tendons in my shoulder). I know a lot of people though that have broken things and have not really been affected when they get back to biking so I guess it just depends on your attitude. Plenty of physio exercise and the gym helped regain my shoulder strength no end and now my shoulder is pretty much just as strong as it ever was, so it's not physically holding me back. Hope the leg heals up soon!

I managed to get a copy of Solidworks free with my university, although it is the '10 version at the moment. It's definitely worth getting a copy at home when you're doing a CAD subject - helps no end. Also worth getting a rendering software as well to give the parts a nice finish. I'm just using a rough engineering drawing to get some measurements for the stock frame, however it only shows side dimensions so the chainstays are a pain. And no, I've not got access to a CNC machine at the moment . A couple more things I've done recently for shits and giggles:
  6. Miserable weather for graduation day!

  7. I'd say given the relatively small trials market when compared to other sports, my guess is that the wages would be pretty modest...
  8. Plasters work fine, just like any other riding - depends on how lazy you are
  9. Before you start tightening any of the nipples, make sure you've got something lined up against the rim to make sure you're properly truing the wheel. I normally just tape something to either side of my forks if I'm doing a quick fix - maybe a pen or something ('cus I'm ghetto like that - and can't afford feeler gauges ). Then depending on which side of the rim the nipple is located - tension the spoke to pull the rim towards that side and vice versa. Just make sure you don't go mad tightening them up.
  10. Awesome video, everything fit together like a glove.
  11. Another super sexy Echo 24! ..... Someone sell ME one!
  12. I'm aware of that - same concept, just different lever and slave design.
  13. ^ As above, looks like it needs a bleed I know it's a HS11 but the bleeding process is pretty similar to the HS33: Sometimes it can have just a little air in the system so locks a little but at the furthest compression remains spongy.
  14. Chances are it won't get lost.....but then there's a small part of me that thinks I've got bad enough luck that it'll probably happen to me I'd like to hear from someone who's had experience buying from them....

Government messin' with our shit! You'll have to reclaim the money from the student's union in Hull.... Goodluck

Definitely could go wrong, plus if there's no previous reason on written work then it could look like fraud. The government provides a maintenance grant depending upon parents income - it should be readily available when you apply for funding / loans. I got another bursary......but I have no friggin idea where from and why....And a scholarship for maintaining at least a 2:1 which you can usually apply for if you read over the university scholarships. Also in your 2nd / 3rd year maybe try to get in on an internship with a bigger company - they'll sometimes give pretty decent funding if they want to see more of you! What's your degree in?
  17. I'm seriously wanting to buy the Echo full build from them.....but I don't dare risk £500 odd getting lost...

Wouldn't say it's the best idea - there's plenty of grants, bursaries and scholarships you can get if you apply for them and meet criteria. I managed to get three different ones for several thousand pounds a year during the 5 years I was at uni. Usually if you maintain a 2:1 and above every year some universities will offer scholarships. What uni is it you're going to?
  19. All these pictures of dreamy Echo 24"s are not doing my cravings any favours..... Lovely bike!
  20. Just missed out on an immaculate Echo 24" for only £400... Close to tears....

Cheers. Got me into Oxford for a PhD :)

  23. Gates should be braced from the lower hinge to the upper beam to counter sagging. i.e B to C
  24. I still think the CNC'd headtube is the best looking one out there. Without a doubt one of my favourite frames out there.
