  1. Before TF, I always used to go on the Trials Kings forum and Section7, and all I ever heard was how TF was full of newbies and idiots moaning all the time. They could not be more wrong :erm:
  2. Bit of a random thing to make up. Of course it's possible you mong. I think it costs 50p ish.
  3. Megadrive emulator on my Xbox ***! Anyone played Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine? Now THERE'S a game!
  4. There's a TRA video where he's gapping across a little pond. The water is probably 8" or so below the take-off, and he still skims the water just after the take-off. It's really weird - you would think that your wheel should go up. But I guess whilst your weight is being thrown upwards, the wheel can go down a bit without it making too much difference.
  5. The thing is though, when you're 19 or whatever you'll probably have loads of freedom to do what you want anyway. You can still see your girl if you're not living together. Believe me, living together is hard work, I did it for 2 months with my (now ex ) girlfriend and it's totally different to what you're doing now. Just have fun, you don't wanna be worrying about all this housing/rent/bills stuff at such a young age. This thread is a bit pointless, because it's not like you'll have to plan anything very far in advance anyway. I'm sure in 2-3 years you will have a much better idea anyway.
  6. I'm just gonna say what other people have said, you don't wanna be moving in with your girlfriend so young. Certainly not buying a house/flat which is what 'being on the properly ladder' means. I guess renting wouldn't be so bad though, even if it does go all tits up at least you'd only have to give a month's notice. But still, rather you than me Pfft, the national average for spelling/grammar that of a 7 year old. I wouldn't worry too much.

The strongest way of joining two points has to be a straight line between them, that's just daft. The only exceptions I can think of are if you're worried about clearance for knees etc, or to increase weld area. This looks like neither of those things, so it's just a design made to look different.
  8. That is indeed looking P.I.M.P.
  9. Put it on silent, I think that's the only way.
  10. My bike is bar-spinnable just with a fairly long front brake cable, but it's a disc which probably helps. If you want to bodge it, you can put the stem on as normal, then take the top cap off and thread the cable through the star nut. Downside is you have to take the brake off every time you need to tighten the headset, and there's no top cap. All in all, it's probably worth paying the £8 for the proper kit
  11. Mine is pretty dead. The battery runs down within a day (because the keypad lights are stuck on, even when the phone is off...) which is useless really. Just under a year old, not that impressed at all.
  12. Typo, but yeah So the EF500 Super can be triggered off the Canon onboard flash can it? What sort of range does this work over? Similarly, what's the range on a transmitter?
  13. For the Fisheye, it depends how pro you wanna go really. The Peleng is good because it's cheap and it's so crazy. Makes everything super-wide and weird which is either a good or a bad thing depending on how you look at it. It's not very automatic though, the aperture/focus is controlled on the lens itself. But Fatmike has taken lots of decent pics with his, so it's up to you. F/stop and OBM will recommend the Sigma 15mm f/2.8 fish. It's a classier piece of kit but more expensive (£230 ish of the top of my head) and not as wide. It is faster though, and altogether probably a more sensible lens to have. I would definitely consider the Sigma 10-30 though. It's not a fisheye, but it is very wide, and it's supposed to be very good optically. They are just shy of £300 though, and have weird distortion on things close up so they're not always great for stuff like trials As for the flash, I presume you mean some kind of off-camera system? With Canon it's not so easy as with Nikon, you will need (I think) a flash and an IR transmitter/reciever. You can get that off ebay for around £20 if you can put up with the cheapness. For the flash itself, you can't go wrong with a Sigma EF Super, about £128 from here: http://www.onestop-digital.com/catalog/

    Police Info

On that site that Simon linked to, the main thing seems to be that it's up to the Police officer's discretion. So even if there was a law about riding small-wheeled bikes on pavements (And I'm not convinced that there is, I've looked before), it sounds like the Police could probably still use their discretion to come down hard on you if you're being a cock. Besides, if they really wanted to 'do' you for something, I'm sure there are hundreds of little laws that you are breaking (disrupting the peace and that sort of thing). So best thing is just to try and be polite. Also, you have to think that trials is a fairly small community, and that by arguing and causing trouble you'll probably give us all a bad name. I assumed from the start of this thread that this was about riding trials bikes in town centres. If you actually use your trials bike for transport, then you can ignore what I said in the previous post about criminal damage, but I think it probably applies to 99% of us
  16. No it's the wheelbase, duh. That's why they're so short

    Rant

A few years ago that was normal though. People didn't know about taps or hooks, and the bash (& pedal) was a part of the bike to be used. BMXers grind things without worrying too much. Whatever, my point is that I used to bash walls, and I never felt bad about it

Um Street trials is criminal damage. You can say it's not if you have - hand on heart - never come up short on a tap/gap/ whatever and landed on your bash. That's nobody on here. Basically you're an idiot. Whether or not it's worth arresting you/ fining you for is clearly up to the police man/woman who catches you. I reckon if you're nice, friendly, civil etc and move on when asked you'll most likely get away with it. But if you're an obnoxious spoilt teenager who wants to show off to his mates and argue, then you probably deserve all you get.
  19. Whoever told you it would be better again in 2 weeks was wrong - It can take like 6 months. I have partially dislocated (subluxed) my shoulder several times, but it didn't hurt that much afterwards. I have a friend who just dislocated her shoulder properly though, and she's been told it'll take 6 months for a full recovery, and something like 6 weeks in a sling. With the nerve thing, it's a fairly common thing to damage the axillary nerve in your shoulder when you dislocate it. Usually just one small branch is trapped which causes you to lose sensation on a small bit of your arm. Considering it was out for 5 hours, there's the possibility that this could be permanent, but you should get some feeling back in time. As for the muscle 'flop', I think it would be worth going to the doctors to check that out, because that is obviously more serious than a loss of sensation. Presumably you have some kind of follow-up appointment, or maybe you don't? Either way I wouldn't worry about it too much - it will be really sore for a long time. Like Bondy, I was told to give up bikes/trials/ any sport for six months after an op on my shoulder... And I didn't listen - I started riding again after about 2 months. Now (18 months on) my shoulder still gives me some gip and I wish I'd been more patient. It's not too bad though.
  20. I have a lot of trouble viewing images on image shack if they are posted on here. Normally they just refuse to load, but when you click on them (to go to the imageshack page) they do work. But yeah, I'm on NTL and it's a bit annoying.
  21. Looks pretty cool, but I can't help but thinking that the back end is going to fall off. It just looks far too skinny to me! P.S. What's that tensioner? It just looks like a bit of wood. Does it work? EDIT: They should totally call it the leeson Clear 10sixty (and give it a 1060 wheelbase, obviously).
  22. Dunno if anyone saw an old version of Fifth Gear where they put petrol in a diesel car and vice versa? Anyway, they drove some old cars until the engine spluttered, then drained the fuel and replaced it with the right stuff. Then they carried on driving. They reckoned that old cars weren't damaged by the wrong fuel, whereas new ones would need a full engine drainage (£££). My point being that perhaps this petrol issue happens more on newer cars? Anyway, hope you get some money back for this Steve.
