  1. Yeah, but the new Intel iMac Duos may well out-run a Quad G5. But you are quite right about Photoshop, it's only going to be run in emulation until CS3 comes out which apparently won't be this year. But in other things (programs which ARE native to Intel), the new Intels piss on the G5s and G4s.

    Chain Problem!

Plenty of places sell half links on their own for a quid or something
  3. The name is due to the surface proteins. I *think* all influenza viruses have a H protein and an N protein. And depending on whichever version of that protein they have, they are named accordingly. So the H5N1 virus has type 5 of the H protein and type 1 of the N. So there are H2N2 viruses (for example) which I think was the most common flu virus last winter - and hence was one of 3 types vaccinated against.
  4. The problem is not that we might catch the flu off birds. That will affect weird people like pigeon handlers and oddballs like that. The problem is as most people know, if it mutates into a form that can pass from human to human. This might have escaped you, but the death rate from the people who have caught the H5N1 (from birds) is stupidly high. It's not just a case of having a runny nose. Anyway, we're due for a flu epidemic. There has been an extra amazing flu that killed millions every 20-30 years since records began. The longest space between epidemics has been 37 years. The last one was in 1960, so you can do the maths. Sooo, just chillax. It's natural, people will die but there's f**k all you can do. So there's no point fretting I thought they had confirmed it as H5N1 now?
  5. Happy birthday you little nipper

    New Koxx

That has nothing to do with stock frames though, Slinger rides mod... Anyway, if Ben wants to move to Koxx it's most likely because he's an ambitious guy and wants to ride for the biggest team in the world (Or are Monty bigger still?). I agree with Rich87 and other people Wayne. The level of bias in your posts takes the piss a bit. Yeah, you know a lot and can tell us all a lot (which is a good thing), but you could do it in a better way that would make you look better. There is room in this world for more than one trials company, so just cool it with the bias
  7. It's all to do with embedded images I believe (LINK). So perhaps using a different skin will help. It hasn't crashed for me in a while though, perhaps it's been fixed in some mini software update.
  8. I didn't think it was that bad. Obviously Johnny was talking bollocks ("Typographically they kind of express what riding is all about") but it didn't sound awkward or patronising to me. Still not very good though, because nothing happened apart from some guy talking crap about a T-shirt (and riding those walls from TM1).
  9. Sprung tensioners are better than non-sprung, definitely. In theory. The reality is that the Fresh (non-sprung) is probably better than the DMR (sprung) because it can't wear out in the same way. That's more down to the design of the DMR though. The main problem with tensioners like the Fresh is that there is no give in them at all. As soon as you touch your chain, it can't go anywhere. So it moves on the dropout and you have to get your allen keys out and fix it. I thought non-sprung tensioners weren't worth bothering with at all until I used the Leeson KISSS (As demonstrated by Walk_aw). The roller is soft and springy (to some extent) and it's fixed VERY securely to the chainstay so it won't budge so easily. You can't beat a mech for tension, although I like the low-profile of the single speed tensioners more. Not only are you less likely to hit it, you're also less likely to do any damage, as there is less leverage on the hanger. So there is no best of both worlds really, although the Rohloff probably comes close in my books. The only problem is the damn price tag!

    Is This For Real?

Yeah. It's the 3rd episode in Season 9
  11. This woman was on South Park and I found the website... It's basically some woman from Hong Kong with a horrible high-pitched voice singing songs such as Back in Black (ACDC). I can't work out if it's for real Anyway, check out Wingmusic.co.nz for more samples...

    Having 2 Jobs

That's not quite right but it's not totally wrong, either. Basically if you have one job, you're fine. Your employer *should* sort out all the tax and you'll pay the right amount of tax based on what you're earning (I.e. you pay a certain amount on any earnings over £100 ish a week). If you have two jobs, then it gets a bit complicated. Because your employer doesn't know how much you're earning from the other job, you get put into an emergency tax code, where you pay full whack on tax. Which means that you pay ~£40% I think. However, once you get it all sorted out (This is the tricky bit, and I don't know how you do this), you'll get taken off that emergency code, you'll get taxed appropriately on your total earnings over both jobs. The important thing is that the 40% band is temporary, and it's also rebate-able. So you may get a nice tax rebate when it's all sorted out To be honest, just leave it in the hands of your employers, they should be able to work it out.
  13. If you can cope with the mechanics parts of maths (like what you did for in physics) then I wouldn't worry if you can't get your head around the pure stuff. When I did mine, the mechanics stuff we did always made much more sense than pure. But there is a lot of maths in some courses, so maybe you should avoid courses like engineering if you don't like maths. I've not really been much help, have I?
  14. AAA batteries are better than something that recharges off USB - FACT! Because you can just buy a handful of batteries from the pound shop and they last weeks. Whereas if it charges off USB, you have to have a computer handy every time you want to charge the b*****d.

    New Koxx

Looks nice but I don't really see how much weight it's saving. It's blatantly there more for the pimp factor. Which I suppose is ok, but you know it's gonna bump the price up loads. Looks cool though
  16. What kind of pain was it? Burning, stabbing, crushing etc. And was it constant pain, or sort of coming and going in spasms? Is it worse when you breathe in? Did the pain radiate anywhere else? What were you doing at the time it came on? Eating anything, doing anything? If it's worse on eating, is there any food that makes it especially bad? Fatty or spicy or something? Does anything make it go away - medications, lying down, resting, exercising? Have you ever had the pain in the past? Any funny tastes in your mouth associated? In fact is there anything else apart from the pain? Are you taking any medications? Stuff like chronic aspirin use can give you stomach pain, so if you're taking lots of aspirin you ought to say... Antibiotics too. Or anything else, legal or otherwise Any family history of lactose intolerance/coeliac's disease etc? It doesn't really sound like kidney stones - it would be unusual for kidney stone pain to back that high up - it usually starts in your sides/back, a bit lower down. Could be I suppose. Dehydration can give you kidney stones, but I don't think have a litre every day is actually that much. I usually drink around a litre/day of juice. Do you have any of these: Fever, nausea, vomiting, headaches, dizziness, weakness, diarrhoea, constipation etc? Those questions should keep you busy. Although this is quite interesting and I would like to solve this myself ( ), you really should go to the doctors. Besides, even if we do work it out, there's not much you can do unless you see a doctor.
  17. It's probably actually nothing to do with the sim. The phone will be locked and un-used. The best thing to do would be to find out whose it is (if you can) and return it. Just for, you know, doing a good deed.

    I Need Help

What have you done so far? Essentially all you need to do is to put the computers in the same workgroup (right-click my computer, then click the computer name tab), and set up some shares (Right-click on folders and click on the sharing tab). Then it usually helps to switch the computers off, and then restart them. If you restart them one at a time, sometimes they don't update the settings, it's a bit stupid. If that doesn't work, you might need to enable simple file sharing (I think that's in tools--> Folder options in my computer). And if none of that works, then you've probably got a stupid bizarre problem like Pinky's got.
  19. My holidays are mostly spent on trials forum, mostly. Nah, I'm going in 13 days
  20. Who is this Ben, and why can't he speak for himself?
  21. 1/1000th of a second if used in computing, 1/50th of a second if used in electronics. True fact. I dunno. A seal?
  22. Can't really see the difference between the two DWs you posted up, but one is probably older than the other. I would go for the 2.5s, I had some on my old bike and they were lovely. Lovely for bunny hops and general larking around. But there's probably a downside in terms of taps or sidehops or something, I didn't notice though.

    I Need Help

Is one of them on Linux perchance? If so then you'll probably have to sort it out yourself. Networking can be a bitch. For some reason I can only share my videos folder. When I try to share my music folder, using EXACTLY the same settings, it doesn't work. Stupid computers.
  24. Yeah I know all about the genie sims, I have about 10 somewhere. But like Siders said, it doesn't change the fact that O2 are shit, does it?
