  1. I'm fairly sure people knew (and believed) that the earth was round way before the first space missions. I'm sure I've raised this point earlier in this thread, but you can't live your life with caveats all the time - you'd never get anything done. This apple is probably an apple and therefore safe to eat, but there's a 0.00001% chance that it's a man-made cyanide-filled sphere that looks, feels, smells, tastes like an apple. Sometimes you've just got to accept assumptions and get on with your life (eat the apple. Accept evolution).
  2. Oh yeah. You can't get enough Nitric Oxide in your diet High five for that man
  3. My iPhone. Having phone/music/games/email/the internet, all on one tiny thing is a f**king revelation. Also I've had it over a year now and I'm still amused by the smooth scrolling animation and page transitions.
  4. Apparently somebody totted up all the people in bible stories, their ages, worked out who was alive at what time etc, and then worked out that the earth must be at least 6000 years old, and not too much more than that. Great.
  5. I have no idea. CRC only do an XC 2.1 and an FR 2.25 and FR 2.40, not sure if there are other versions?!
  6. My Advantages are waaaay different. They're only marked as 2.25 but in reality they've got a much higher volume compared to the 2.35 high rollers, and the sidewalls are much thinner. Unless Maxxis do an XC-specific version of the Advantages? Mine are apparently Advantage-Fr.

I guess it depends how often you go back in the history But I actually have mouse buttons for forwards/backwards so I don't tend to use gestures for that. But the simple way with gestures is hold down the right mouse button, then click the left button to go back (or thricely (sic) for back 3 pages). I'm not sure what you're on about with scrolling down - I just use the mouse wheel like everyone (or middle click and drag)?
  8. I used to have a Maxxis Advantage 2.25 which was a huge balloon of a tyre with good grip but sidewalls much thinner than high rollers so I kept pinching it. Back on High Rollers now although the Advantage is definitely worth a look if your trails are smooth (Peak district = nothing but spiky rocks). So, uh, yeah. Another vote for High roller 2.35 single ply.

Revolver - You obviously like your shortcuts. I implore you - try mouse gestures for a few days, I guarantee you won't know how you lived without them!

Yeah, agreed (I use Safari on my laptop). But for anything with a mouse, gestures are the way forward.
  11. Yeah, what Iain said really. It's supposedly got more to do with your weight than your height. There are various snowboard length calculators online (THIS is one I found quickly which seemed to work for me) to give you a rough idea. It is quite similar to the bike analogy really - shorter boards are a bit easier to spin/flick around etc, and longer boards are better for stability on hard pistes and float in powder. 165 is too long for almost anyone though, a new board would be way more fun I would think. The other thing is that there are quite a few new board designs coming out - various flex patterns/profiles whatever, and some of these feel longer than they actually are. E.g. supposedly if the board you're buying has magnetraction you're supposed to take off 3cm from your "ideal" length (I.e. You'd buy the 156 instead of the 159). For what it's worth, I'm 6'0 and 85kg, and I ride a 157 Ride DH (an awesome snowboard) which is on the shorter end of the spectrum for someone my weight but I'm happy with that - I tend to mess about and spin and stuff way more than I carve or hammer down pistes.

It was obviously supposed to be sarcastic, but it's kinda true - mouse gestures make everything quicker. For me, going to a computer without mouse gestures is kind of like using a mouse without a wheel. Sure, I could move the mouse to the teeny icon in the corner and then click and hold it down to scroll, but it's immensely irritating.

So every time you want to close a tab or something, you move the mouse half way across the screen, find the icon, and click. Pfft, no thanks. Mouse gestures are mandatory for anyone who browses the web in a hurry. Like I'm doing now. Obviously.
  14. I liked the random girl they found to do the stunt in the squash court. Was she a member of the volunteer they picked off the (Manchester) street? Or a member of his production company from Essex?
  15. But this whole series has been rubbish. Whilst some of his older stuff was clever and thouh-provoking, the tricks in this recent one were just stupid. I didn't believe any of them for a second, which means it was a total failure.
  16. Just climb more. If you've only just started climbing, you can toughen up your hands but your upper body strength will still be shit. And then you can get stronger but your grip won't be good enough. And then you'll be strong enough but have no technique I know what you're saying, it is annoying. Don't push yourself and get a tendon injury though. The best thing to do is to vary your climbs - E.g. do some that are fingery-pinchy climbs, then others that are more balance/feet orientated so you're not killing your hands.
  17. Why is it that no one on this forum can spell "lose"?

  19. I might be opening up a huge can of worms here, but why does your dyslexia mean that you need a dictaphone more than other people?
  20. I fail to believe that has any actual benefit though. I mean does anyone actually go home after a day of work, only to sit and listen through a few hour-long lectures again? No. You go to a lecture, listen, pick up whatever you can and then go home and drink cheap lager. I mean I know being a student is a good excuse to buy shite you don't need, but that's ridiculous. Bloody students.
