    Google Chrome

Firefox does that too though. I dunno, I liked Chrome but it's too simple - there's no plugins. I use mouse gestures on FF which makes things loads easier/faster. So even though Chrome is a bit nippier on my aging PC, FF is actually faster in use.
  2. I do bar charts histograms for fun!
  3. You typically use histograms for continuous variables - E.g. an age range. 10-15, 16-20, 21-30, 31-80 or something - particularly where the age range is wider depending on which age group you fall into.
  4. Just out of curiosity, do other countries have first class post that takes a day and stuff? E.g. in the states can you pay 32p (or $ equivalent) and send a letter from New York to LA in under 24 hours?
  5. So all bags should be pink? I doubt fragile tape will make much difference to be honest. I would pack it well with bubble wrap and maybe a bit of 2x4 running the length of the board so they can't bend it?
  6. If only that were true, we wouldn't be in this pickle.
  7. Everybody be cool. And bypassing the swear filter is naughty and will get you banned next time.
  8. It does. Just think of it as a University Tax.
  9. It's a good example of how evolution works though. A simple bacterium, (S. Aureus for example) is living in someone's nose. It reproduces every now and again, each time with the potential for a new mutation. One of these mutations happens to be the production of a slightly-altered cellular enzyme, with the capability to deactivate antibiotics. That confers an absolutely massive survival advantage for that particular bacterium, and it is therefore much more likely to survive compared to other bacteria which have been killed. This is survival of the fittest, as seen over a period we can observe.
  10. IIRC it's 9% of your gross earnings (IE before tax) over £15 000/annum. If you're only earning just above the threshold it won't actually seem like much. And yeah, it comes out of the PAYE section, and I don't think it's always marked separate. Also I don't think they start taking it until Jan/February after you graduate. You should get a statement from SLC though, at least every year.

    Car

Whatever you do, stick some random females on your insurance. I put my girlfriend on, and my quote came down £180 to £260 - I.e. almost half price. It's stupid and she very rarely even drives the car
  12. You had me until "exorcisms"
  13. There's something weird going on. Everyone is completely indoctrinated by their own beliefs. We're talking about two diametrically opposed views - one has to be wrong. And yet neither side can see any way of accepting the other person's view. It's mind-boggling. I am certainly guilty of this. When it comes to making a decision based on the arguments of two opposed people, I tend to side with those who are obviously intelligent. When one person's argument simply entails name calling and bizarre logic I think there must be something wrong with that person's reasoning. With that in mind, lol: That's an interesting point. When you think about it, there are probably loads of organs that are as complex but you never hear of people talking about the evolution of, say, the pancreas.
  14. I can totally see the point in a big laptop. Have a desk that is completely free of clutter except when you get the laptop out of the drawer or something? Sounds good to me - and it doesn't matter if it's not portable to carry around all day and use in the cafe and on the train etc. That's not the point. Having said that, they are a LOT more expensive than a comparable desktop, and my experience of laptops is that they break quite frequently. But if you can afford it, why not?
  15. I do accept that we don't have all the answers, but your post could just as easily apply to creationists. Where the only answer is "God did it", where is the scope for a learning more? All we can do is base our opinions on observations around us. It has 4 wheels, it looks like a car. I am 99.9999% sure it is a car. Arguing over that 0.0001 % is pedantic?
  16. I generally don't get too involved for the reasons that you say - because I can't take on other people's views. It's not that I won't listen, it's just that I fundamentally can't see any point of reconciliation that makes creationism in the least bit believable. There's no starting point on which to build any common ground. I just don't get it - for me it's black and white and obvious. Any deviation from that is just non-sensical. I think that it's an interesting life lesson though - I certainly wouldn't want some creationist to think he could change my mind, therefore I wouldn't try to change their stead-fast views. Sometimes we can have different viewpoints and even if the other view makes zero sense, the only way anything good will come is if you accept that's what they believe.
  17. They're really very similar. I rode an ET then a Zoot (which is very similar to the inspired). The ET is a tiny bit (15mm I think) shorter, but it has a steeper headangle so in effect the reach (BB to stem) is fairly similar. In theory the Inspired might be a bit nicer for trialsy things (taps) and less good for front wheel taps but I doubt the difference is that noticeable. When people say they prefer one or the other, I'd bet it's got way more to do with individual bike setup than the geo itself. In fact when I changed from the ET to the Zoot and swapped all the parts over, the only real difference I felt was the standover height which makes more difference than you would think. I know what it's like, you have the choice of geometry so you want to get it "right", but in actual fact it won't make very much difference if you go for ET geometry or Inspired. Just don't do something daft like 1040/74 (which will have a pretty long reach) or 1020/70 (which will feel tiny). People don't "get" what a huge difference the head angle makes to how long the bike feels*. *When I bought my Leeson 609 I went for 1040 WB, but I asked for a steep head angle (74). Which actually made it feel very similar in length to my Koxx levelboss (1065/70) which wasn't what I intended. It still rode pretty nice (and it's definitely not long by today's standards) but it was weird
  18. Yeah the BUSA BUCS was at UK Bike Park this year, and I quite enjoyed the DH there. They've done well to make a decent track with such little elevation to play with, I was very impressed. I decided the push-up was a lot easier than waiting for uplifts, but then it was very busy (the uplift queue was about 45 minutes ). It's sooo far from here though.
  19. Is that Bubba Stewart's house? With the huge moto-x track outside? That picture is pretty ahhsum.
  20. UK Bike Park is about a million miles from anywhere vaguely north though Helmet cam videos always look rubbish. Sorry, but they're really uninteresting. The only decent ones are where there is a bit of overtaking - E.g. the Megavalanche (search on youtube if you're interested).
  21. My computer sometimes does that - It just hangs a few seconds into the boot sequence and beeps. I found out that it was a USB TV card, if I unplugged that it carried on as normal. So check things like that. Also the number beeps/timing is a code for what the fault is - you should be able to look it up online, but I think it'll be specific to your motherboard.
