    Jackson...

Really? That's quite a strong word for someone who has presumably influenced your life with a few songs. Even if the music isn't your cup of tea, I don't really see why it would incite hatred. Anyway, I'm sad he's died, he wasn't very old...

    Forks.......

I think those forks have air preload which will stiffen them up a bit but not really advisable. Unless there are two air valves (I.e. one on each leg) in which case one will be positive air (probably the right leg) which will assist the spring and make things firmer. See if you can get a stiffer spring/springs, that's the only real way to change anything on those forks (they're fairly basic). If the rebound is working normally, then I wouldn't mess about with the oil. There's no meaningful compression on those I don't think?
  3. Make friends with the cleaners or whoever checks the rooms. A couple of cups of tea doled out will make things run very smoothly for you. If you get caught going in/out of your room, there's always the "I need(ed) to fix it and the tools are in my room" excuse

    Jackson...

I think I'm gonna perma-ban anyone who posts shit jokes.
  5. Enbikeopedia strikes again! I reckon a lot of that stuff will have a fair bit of value - just stick it on eBay with "retro" in the title and I'm sure it'll go for lots.

    Jackson...

I'm sure it'll all blow over. I predict this will all be forgotten about by tomorrow.
  7. Since when has smoking ever been a hindrance to anyone, in anything, ever? It just makes you look cool? 3457 for me, although towards the end I clicked on my computer's clock to time, which cancelled the letter counting, so it was probably a fair bit higher. Who votes for watches with second hands?! EDIT: 4020 which is 2:15.
  8. I suggest you leave it as it is, it's a beautiful guitar and what you're proposing sounds gash. IMO of course
  9. When I went to Vancouver (Canada), I was shocked by the difference in beggars over there. They were much more polite, and would sometimes open doors for you. Still made you feel pretty uncomfortable though.
  10. I never know what I'm supposed to do. The most difficult are the ones that ask for a stupidly small amount - like 10p or something. How can you say no to 10p? But on the other hand, I dislike being put into that position where I look like a dick for saying no. Strange one.
  11. The solution to your problems: You need to do a bit of tinkering with limiter screws and whatever but I can now change gear in around 2 seconds, it works perfectly for two gears
  12. That's what I was wondering. Just make sure the money is definitely in before you send them - and obviously don't accept escrow or any of that crap. Mind you, there are a lot of idiots who will pay stupid money for that stuff.
  13. You can also use petrol to get rid of the tar on your rims. It comes off really easy, although white spirit is probably just as good and I'm sure there are other solvents too. Just see what you have lying around, although it's best to avoid really oily spirits as you don't want to leave grease on your rim. Just make sure you wash it thoroughly afterwards. For the brakes - I wouldn't use just any old tubing, you don't want it flexing and taking all your braking power. Cleanbikes used to sell Monty tubing in blue and red colours, but I can't find it on their website now. You could try calling them?
  14. You're introducing an extra interface. That's just asking for even more wear, and since either interface can fail, you're doubling the risk of rounding something off? I was thinking about this though, trials was way ahead with all the fluoro shite. That's only just hitting MTBs now really, and fluoro rims have been out on trials bike for ages. 2 years or more? Not that that's anything to be proud of
  15. Or a Blue Leeson 609 with Orange graphics
  16. If you wanted anyone from Supercycles to see it, you could have at least put Supercycles in the thread title. I'm sure the guys at Onza don't read every single topic they see. There's always PMs if you want to get in touch but them, but I doubt Joe@Onza is going to appreciate that. Use the phone (call at a non-busy time).
  17. Surely if you're not sure about something/don't want it/whatever, you just offer a pitifully low price? That way you keep your "guarantee" but don't get into something you're not comfortable with?
  18. That's the obvious counter-argument but I wonder if it's a bit simplistic. For one thing, you're talking about one small country, at one time. The increase in teenage pregnancies in the last decade might seem important, but on an evolutionary scale covering billions of years it doesn't even register as a blip. Secondly, within "chav" groups, are intelligent (or maybe I should say funny/witty/streetsmart) individuals actually more desirable? Thirdly I'm not sure if anyone's looked at IQ for different socioeconomic groups in the UK - maybe your assumption that chavs are unintelligent needs testing. I dunno, I just cooked up that hypothesis as I was typing the previous post, I certainly don't claim to have researched it at all.
  19. It was tongue-in-cheek, I know you weren't honestly suggestion we go out and kill disabled people! The modernisation of our society means that the natural selection pressures are different. They're not gone though. People who look ugly / act strangely (psychotic?) / have the wrong colour hair are less likely to find a mate. I reckon that intelligence renders you more likely to find a mate, too. Of course there are still stupid people that are breeding but I would hypothesise that over the course of several thousands of years, the population's IQ would go up. I would guess (and it is a total guess) that there are fewer intelligent people who aren't breeding, compared with stupid people. Harvey Danger doesn't think so, though. Anyway, my hypothesis would, over the course of many years, shift the balance toward creating a more intelligent species. Over the course of a very small period in the Earth's existence (5000 years or so), the selection pressures have changed dramatically which results in evolution. If we all had to become hunter-gatherers again, we'd probably be f**ked
  20. Well, I've decided I should look second hand, so I don't want to make a choice on finishes - otherwise I'll just end up being fussy. If I had to choose though, I'd go for a Wine Red with gold hardware. Second choice would be the cherry sunburst I reckon. That's very helpful, nice one. I never really go to London, but maybe I'll have to make a trip One day I'll have a Tele as well. But at the moment it's too similar to my Strat, and I'm not getting rid of that. I reckon I can find a second hand Standard for around a grand, that's probably my plan at the moment. The other option is a Traditional / Classic issue. I actually like the sound of these - they've supposedly got a thinner neck (good) and perhaps slightly worse, dirtier pickups (doesn't really sound bad). Other than that, they're pretty similar to the Standard, although I'm sure depreciation would be an issue. You can get them new for £1300 ish if you shop around. Any thoughts?
  21. That's what I was going to say - a lot of that is filmed in (I think) Morzine, and I spotted Danny hopping in Alp D'Huez doing the Mega last year (which he did really well in, the talented bellend ). Unless he's been back since, this footage is almost a year old.
  22. Alright, calm down Adolf! Evolution is still happening, why wouldn't it be? We are no longer a hunter/gatherer species and as you say, survival isn't too much of an issue - except for people with serious genetic diseases which are selected against for obvious reasons. It's just that now, the natural selection occurs in society not out in the wild, in our choice to find exciting/attractive/interesting people to mate with. The top of the food chain are people with good jobs and business acumen. 3000 years ago, someone like Bill Gates would probably have lasted about 5 minutes in the wild, but now his is probably among the most desirable DNA on the planet Let's not forget that some of the most prominent thinkers in our history have/had disabilities that would have seen them left to die not so long ago. Stephen Hawking (ALS), Einstein (Asperger's Syndrome - probably). This is part of the reason that we are a dominant species - we've evolved into a society that can protect certain people and allow expansion of our knowledge/skills set - which sets us apart from other animals. As a society we've got some people producing food, others protecting us, building homes to shelter us etc. And so other people are able to sit in universities and ponder the origins universe or fight cancer. If we were all hunter-gatherers that could never happen.
  23. I'm fairly sure I've ticked a box on my contract saying I don't want to be part of any directories.
