Fair enough but have you left it alone for a substantial amount of time?? Try sanding the pads lightly and cleaning the rotror with warm soapy water. Then rinse off the rotor thouroughly and allow it to bed in again. Dont do any thing fancy like ride down a massive hill then chuck water on it, just do it by riding normally. Worked for me. Also see if the pads hit the disc square, because you might need your fork mount facing. I know its frustrating, just think to your self that there is a solveable reason.

I had problems with my one aswell. It wouldnt bite or hold very well. I kept fidling with it but nothing really made a difference. So I just left it alone and got on with riding and suddenly it became very good indeed. I just recently changed by forks because I cracked the mount on my ti forks, and when I changed them over it went crappy for a bit but soon came back good as ever. You could just try and leave it alone for abit and see if it sorts itself out. Its funny you saying it got worse because of the rain because my one is almost better in the wet.

It comes down to having both proper or good technique and the physical power and strength to carry it out. Thats why you get people who are very powerful but with bad technique that can sidehop say 40inches. And the other guy who is not very powerful at all side hopping the same height because he has good technique. If his powerful friend learnt the proper technique then he would go alot higher and his friend wouldnt be able to match his height. When you see benito and the others side hop it is a combination of good technique and power that gives the height. On the genetic's side of things you are born with a set % of fast switch and slow twitch muscle fibres. You cannot change that. There are however muscle fibres that can be either ( i cant remember their name). Basically if you practised side hopping over a bar in your garden say twice a week then these muscle fibres will become more fast twitch than slow twitch so you will gain some extra power but other than that you are how you are. Plyometric exercises are very dangerous, but can be very effective. Sorry I have gone on alot, there is so much interesting stuff on this like flexibility playing a massive role and elastic capability. If your really interested just search on google for stuff like fast twich muscle fibre, plyometrics, flexibility and you will find so much info.

Look on tartybikes.co.uk for more info on it. Look in the new hope parts page.

Slightly off topic, but why is 22-18 to hard for natural?? And do you think the new hope trial hub would be better to have than a king??
-
If your getting the cranks any way then I would say go for the ffw. Mainly because I think you will get better engagment (i think) and it looks to be relativly cheap. Can you get hold of an old hub and have the facility to get it locked up?? If you do then it cant hurt to try a £10 acs can it. I know they break and come loose but if you can, when you take your hub to be welded then get then to put a tack on the lock ring aswell. And even when it does break its only another £10 rather then sending it back to hope (which although is fantastic service still takes time). If you like it then you could get the eno or go back to your hope. The only thing is can you get descent sizes of cog/sproket?

James dont act like you didnt appritiate what she was doing!!!! :( Dont tell my wife either.

You have been told by every one that you have probally done some thing wrong. From my screen it is very hard to tell what it is. You can either listen to the people that are trying to help you and persevre (sp?) with a grind trying different cutting disc, methods of grinding, try doing the things people have suggested. You can keep using your tar as you seem happy using it, so to me that seems like your best bet as you seem unwilling to give a grind (which most people choose over tar for good reasons) a chance. In summary, JT use tar.
-
I love both. They are both good for different reasons. I have found now that Im old Im not fit enough for natural.
-
If your using the old lever and every thing else is new school then i dont think they are compatible. other wise I dont know.

Bit unfair/untrue. I think the coust have more style, flow better and look better. Vince of course has plenty of style though, its just I guess I prefer the coust style. Excellent vid, top draw. I think the only place vince has the coust's beat is side hops. He can go so high!!!!! Every thing else is probally quite even. On a side note if you have the video, wm_03_elite_26 or can download it from trials shack it has one of the nicest ups I have ever seen by giacomo at 10.34

Oxford is quite buisy on a saturday, which does mean there will be ladies in short skirts, but also some people in the way. I would be up for it though. (Y)

I heard he went into the stock exchange.

I find that doing that makes the brake work in one direction better and the other very poorly. I do mine at 90 degrees so basically just straight at it. Not saying Im right, just adding my experiance.
-
I dont think it is working properly. Some times if you grind a rim wrong it can make it worse than a smooth rim (with no tar on, obviously). I have done this a couple of times by used a blunt diamond disc. The fresh grind was alot worse than the dead one. With my koxx rim and pads, I use a metal cutting disc from b + q. Works very well and holds me on edges easily. This is on my echo control. Maybe try a different grinding disc and technique. Grinds a more consistent than tar, from my experiance, especially in the hot summer.

Coust pads wont be very quiet though. Really good bite and lock though.

http://www.pinkbike.com/modules/photo/?op=viewℑ=521176 Heres a picture of my old zero (seen here as a testing bike). You can see the welding and added plates just by the chainring.
-
When I snapped my zero around the chain stay my mate welded it, and welded on extra 3 aluminium plates around the area. It never snapped again and it is still being used. This was about 2-3 years ago.
