  1. A dishwasher solves this problem.
  2. Misty is an understatement! It was like trying to look out of a glass of milk!
  3. I used ordinary polish once. One of those things you will only ever do the one time. Genuinely could not see for shit!
  4. They wouldn't quote me because I had an accident within the last 12 months Sky came out on top for me.
  5. I did exactly that with my Audi when I had remote start installed. All well and good until the transponder dropped off the barrel without me realising. Never did find it. Luckily I had a spare though! ...just use decent glue (not superglue, haha)
  6. They have drop links on the front struts, so that rules out any normal A3 or Leon. Could be an Octavia VRS, but I thought they had 312's too. Are there any part number stickers on the struts? The letters at the beginning should identify the manufacturer at least
  7. £300 for a secondhand 312mm setup?! More like £150...people just don't pay that much for them nowadays. £300 would almost get you a Brembo setup! Also, nobody is going to buy secondhand ABS sensors...9 times out of 10 they break when you take them out anyway. They aren't much more than £20 new either. Driveshafts are probably a bit optimistic too, maybe nearer £30-£40 each. The rest of it I would agree with though. I reckon if you put it up as a job lot for £300 you would get interest. Thing is, the chances of somebody wanting the whole lot are pretty slim...and selling it individually will be a ball ache.
  8. Genuinely think that car is less reliable than the Saab
  9. If you're planning to install rods, fit a large port head while the small port is off. If you're not fitting rods, the cost and effort of changing the heads isn't really worth it. Large port does allow more flow, but it's at the sacrifice of torque low down. I really only fitted an AGU engine to mine because I got it stupidly cheap (£150 for the whole engine with everything still attached), and because it made the whole rebuild process 100% easier doing it out of the car. If you're planning to go all out on the build, and you are trying to extract every last ounce of power from the engine, then yes, large port is worth it (the other advantage of large port engines is the "better" compression ratio, which you won't gain from if you just change the head), but otherwise, you would be better spending the £200+ it will cost to do the head swap on water/meth injection, and actually reap some real world benifits.
  10. Just had a quick look on ebay, found this, which has the part you want on it, but its a lot more than I'm betting you're wanting to pay! There's no real need to buy the whole buy either I guess. It's an option though: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-Cooper-One-06-13-1-4-petrol-vacuum-pump-263-/290976251807?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AMini&hash=item43bf893f9f
  11. You've snapped the brake servo vacuum pipe. You might be able to glue it back together, but I personally wouldn't trust it...let alone on my girlfriends car. Something like that will be a BMW parts job, or a scrapyard, no way of repairing it other than gluing. Doubtful it will pass the MOT if you have to put as much pressure on the brakes as you describe.
  12. More to the point Luke, why are you getting rid of them?
  13. There was a film about this very thing. Very good it was too, called "The Box". Only difference being it was 1 million dollars for the price of a random persons life.
  14. I had Pole Positions in my Audi. Absolutely bloody lovely seats, made any other seat feel like sitting on a cardboard box. Really regret selling them when I stripped the car
  15. Brentacre wouldn't cover me because of the claim due to the crash in my work van Sky ended up coming up trumps with me though. £560 all mods declared, including the mater/meth injection. Very happy with that price...it's nearly £200 cheaper than I paid this year, and that was with no claims, and a less powerful car!
  16. Depends which month you're talking about Towards the end of last year I was spending about £700 a month, lol! Normally it's between £100-300, depending on what I'm doing. I'm at the point now where my only spending (other than fuel) is tyres and servicing.
  17. Yeah, my Leon. Not heard of those drop links. I've just got standard ones on mine.
  18. Yeah, it's pretty stiff to be fair, and as you say it's quite darty and snappy. Can catch you out if you're not on the ball. Great fun though!
  19. I have a 28mm bar on the rear of mine. SO awesome. Set on the hardest setting...did very nearly bin it when I first went round a roundabout though haha! Coupled with a 23mm front bar, camber/caster correction top mounts, polybushes on every joint, and coilovers, it handles like an absolute machine! Can't wait to get back out on track once it's been mapped to run the hybrid!
  20. All vacuum tubing I have ever used is 3mm ID. As for the larger sizes, it's surprising how much it will stretch. Other than that, you can get barbed couplers to go from one size to the other (like the T piece you used for the boost gauge).
  21. Dan, the hose supplied with boost gauges is utter shite. Any sign of heat and it melts. Highly recommend you replace it with silicone vacuum tubing.
  22. Like you even need to ask Adam's opinion on that
  23. I used to date a girl with the surname Staines. So desperately wanted to marry her and have a double-barrelled name.
  24. Lolwut? Is that so you think of me?
