The three major editing suits at the moment are Premier, Pinacle, and Final Cut. Any of those three will see you going well. I personally use Sony Vegas 6 which a friend got for me; complex, but also very good. And if you know where to look, you can download them, but be careful. The electronics/computer software industy didn't become one of the most prolific in the world by being nice to copyright violaters. Rich

1. Many people attend comps who cannot even bunnyhop or trackstand reliably. I've seen them leave with a smile on their face and come back for the next one. 2. From Eastbourne I'd say Essex and Hampshire were roughly of equal distance away. Can't think of anywhere closer than that, but then its about the same distance for when I drive to a hampshire comp from Taunton. Their contact details can be found at http://www.biketrialuk.co.uk/ 3. Only applies to Nationals (to my knowledge.) Rich

A lot of people have a lot of different reasons for not wanting to do comps. They either can't be bothered and just enjoy 'free' riding (you know what I mean), which is fair enough. Some of the best riders in the UK like Matt Berridge and James Porter have made names for themselves doing almost no comps at all (apart from Porter who's just taken it up again and is comfortably caining me....) Many people don't like the rules and obeying them, or feel that the conditions of a competition are too restrictive to an individuals style as you just have to get through the sections and get out the end, so even if you pull a lovely crankspin or an X-up mid section, its makes sweet FA differnece if you didn't get through the section (there was an idea about Fluffy Bunny Points, but thats another story...) And in that light, some people don't like being put under the pressure of riding a comp. I remember being scared shitless when I was riding beginner because I looked so crap in comparison to someone like Chris Doney or Mike Graves, who were flying through sections much harder than what I was doing (its even more embarresing that I'm nearly two years older than Chris aswell!) and now I ride in the same category as those two. They still run rings all around me but thats not the point! And yeah, I never went to comps because where I lived there just weren't any! The big well organised comps (Hampshire, Essex, DJ, etc...) are all a long way apart and for some people it can be several hours drive which many people just cannot afford. (I personally enjoy getting up early on Sundays to drive for three hours to a comp, but thats just me...) So anyway, the important point is that you should neither let any of the above reasons stop you attending comps nor feel obliged to enter them. Competitions are only one way of testing the skills of a rider, but there are others, and its how you find the best way to present that skill that'll make it happen. (Y) Apologies for the mini essay! I just have absolutely nothing better to do..... Rich

If you have a look in prawns thread about the plymouth ride you'll notice that me and Matt Tupman (and possibly Steve Sanger) will be riding Bone Hill (opposite Haytor Vale, Nr Newton Abbot, Devon) on the saturday before the big ride in plymouth. So basically, if anyone wants to come along they're more than welcome. Come ride some natty, you know you want to..... Rich

There was a really blurry one of you Matt at an after comp ride at Bottor Rock.... Pretty sure it was taken by Rob, of you just dropping off a rock in the wooded bit, and I think I'm standing in the background. That's probably my favourite. Rich

This may sound very stupid, but I recently went from 203 on the front to 160 with an avid bb7, and I have to say, the difference was astonishing. the power was all still there and then some more, and the feel is just beautiful. the smaller disc definately seemed to work better... Just something to consider.... Oh, and for the money, simplicity, power and performance, I havn't found anything better than an Avid BB7 (XTR lever with Louise 2001 rotor and Clarkes cable and jacket). Rich

You know i'm there..... >_< Anyone up for Exeter or possibly Bone Hill on Saturday? Make a proper weekend out of it.... Rich -
Is there not a downloadable version of the behind the scenes? Or can you only play it from their site. Very cool none the less. I never thought 250,000 bouncy balls could make so much noise. Rich

Makes you think how the general public must view biketrials. I.e. my initial thoughts: What utter psycho's... Nice find fred... Rich

You got whipped, beaten, stripped naked, had your bike ziptied to one of the highest points on dartmoor, powerhosed, deprived of sleep and covered in talcom powder by some of the finest riders in the UK. Most people would give their right arms for that sort of privilege! Quit complaining! :P I'm working on it mate, hopefully I can find another way of rendering it which will be easier to run. :ermm: Rich

Eengoedidee link Heres the vid I made of the bikeshow highlights, which has Craigs gap with sound so you can get a bit more of an idea of it. Unfortunately its from the same angle but I havn't seen a better one yet (I actually havn't even seen another clip of it yet...). There were loads of people filming from the ground (Andy Green?) so someone must have got a better clip. Rich

Kris used them for a while when he was going through his park/street stage on the BMX's and on his 24", but apart from that, never really seen anyone using them, and certainly not on a 660. Rich

Thanks for all the replies people, so glad that everyones taken so well to the vid as so much work was put in by so many people. Can anyone who is still having technical problems with the vid, either downloading from tv.isg.si or in just playing it, get in touch with me as I'm trying to figure out ways to make future videos more hassle free for people. Also if anyone wants to just get in touch and have a chat with any constructive criticism with either me or Alex our MSN's are karsonlevoret@hotmail.com and ifu14@hotmail.com  And now, the caption competition. All was explained in my first post, the winner recieving a full length VHS copy of Volume 2, signed by myself and Alex, and the winner may even get a little extra, previously unseen footage of things to come from the south west trials crew... People who submitted captions were: SteveS, Xdream, Man On A Mission, trialsmad, Bass rider, trialmedia and matthewholdsworth. Vote for you favourite by posting with the users user name and the winner gets the vid. Captions listed below: Thanks again Rich

It'd be interesting to see who has had more bikes; you or Andrei Burton. That guy REALLY goes through them... First trials bike? Trek 6000 with dmr bash and Gusset rigids. For pics look in the August 2003 edition of MBUK under the broken frames section in dirt... :) Rich
