Just A Few Questions ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Rich Pearson replied to travis's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
My names Rich Pearson and I'm from Taunton in Somerset. I ride a Leeson Clear 660 D15C Pearson signature frame, which I'm loving. I must have been riding trials now for about 6 years, with about two years moto trials before that, and I'm enjoying this sport more than ever. I think I probably did my first comp in 2002 at hampshire (so four years roughly) and I'm now riding in the Expert category. I'm also moving up to Elite in the South West comps for this year. Rich -
As your in Bristol mate, the nearest comps to you would be the hampshire ones (or is YMSA closer? my geography's crap....). But either way, the Hampshire comps are super fun, well organised and with lots of friendly people to ride with. Even if you just make the trip down to watch, you'll get an idea of what the comps are like, what category you think you should enter etc, etc. You do need an ACU license though to compete, all the details should be on the Biketrials UK website. People are more than welcome to stop off at my place in Taunton on the way down the night before, which breaks up the journey quite nicely, as its only an hour from me down to the devon rounds. And you get to ride with me and whiteboy Dunno what I'll enter Matt, I might actually take a proper shot at the Brits this year. I'll catch you on MSN. Rich

That was horrible to watch. So much more thought could have been put into the editing of that video. It really isn't hard to make a good quality video and take a little time over some editing ideas. The riding was good, but I just felt it was let down by the editing and filming in comparison to the recent vids of the coust bros. Rich

And I loved every minute of it..... Rich

Just thought some people might like to shed their views of these. A few sections taken from a jackass film me and a few buddies made as a practise project back in school before we started making biketrials vids. tv.isg.si link One video (tricks stunts and lashings of ultraviolence) is already up and theres another one uploading now. Feel free to download and comment. Oh and those kids suck, but like Mark said, when you're on a camping holiday..... Rich
-
Might come along to the two Devon rounds and ride the open category, or just offer to observe. Looking forward to it. Rich

Actually the first trials specific 24" anywhere was Rich Johnsons Saracen X-Tort 24" from about four years back..... Rich

I reckon saving up for a Leeson would be worth it Rob. You can get the frame just how you like it (you could even get custom stickers like me.....) plus you have the backup and lifetime warrante from Clive. For your kind of riding Leeson's definately seem to be what most 24" riders are going for, but saying that, Matt S's Inspired does look lovely. It's your call mate, but I'd certainly say 24" would suit you perfectly and Leeson are the people to help you get the best out of it. Rich

Does anyone know the song TRA used in the opening of may28? Also the same song used by Tunnicliffe in an old Zoo video of his. Rich

UPDATE ON THE ANDREI SITUATION: From what I've heard from the man, Andrei Burton has now been seeded into the Masters category, much thanks to the efforts of the BikeTrials UK Committe (nice one Matt and Barb ). Andrei himself is in a plaster cast as his buggered ankle has finally gone. He is however in the hands of Simon Lord, the physiotherapist that got people like me and Neil T back on our feet. Andrei should be riding again by March or April, and Simon is doing absolutely everything to try and restore some strength and fitness to Andrei's quite broken body (extreme work is being done on his back, elbows, knees and ankles which are all heavily damaged after years of hard riding). Come the start of the next season, Andrei will be back on his feet, he will be stronger, fitter and tougher than he has ever been in his life and is totally stoked about bringing home a good result. Watch this space. Rich

And before you know it we're gonna be having drive by shootings and flatland dance offs in some basement in Lydd.... Its on Scotty..... Rich

What Is The Best-value-for-money Disk Brake?
Rich Pearson replied to bikerboysam1's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Avid Mechanical BB7 with XT or XTR lever. The avid's are 55quid on CRC and there are no shortage of XTR or XT levers for sale in the For Sale/Wanted section, and if you can't manage to get one from there then an XT lever is only 20quid on CRC or even a speed dial 3 for a tenner (not so nuts over the avid levers though...) Trust me, I'm running double disc avids with XTR's and they are the shit. Rich -
Will be something to tide me over until glasseye gets here. Yeah I'd buy one. Rich

One of the best video's I've seen in ages. Smooth and techy riding with absolutely awesome camera work. It's not hard to see how he's so good. Look how much bloody cool stuff he has to ride! Roadtrip to Hungary anyone? Good find Rich
-
Looks very cool. Everythings just nice. Only one thing, just to be perdantic..... The site is called street furniture. Its all about street riding. In the opening into you've very clearly and positively explained how street riding has benefited trials. And you've put that bit of text right next to a pic of a guy riding natural. Am downloading the vid now, looks cool so far. best site I've seen in a long while, And its actually all finished, rather that some people who just post up a half finished site with most of it saying, "coming soon...." Good stuff. Rich

Benito Ros is probably the best 20" rider in the world as he has numerous world championships under his belt and the number of people who can sidehop/bunnyhop/gap/drop at the same kind of level as him is very small indeed. Personally I like Carles Diaz and TRA but Benito is just an absolute monster of a rider. I mean, his calves are so big he actually can't fit into Koxx trousers... Check out AndyT's Koxx days Videos as they have lots of Benito in them. Rich

That scream coming through the speakers scared the shit out of me. I'd just clicked over to media player to watch a vid and all I heard was blood curdling scream through over the video. rich

Three songs were used in the opening scene of Volume 2 so its kind of confusing when you ask that question. The main song in the opening credits is Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rhythm Of The War Drums - A Perfect Circle (yes, that is, to my knowledge, the longest name of a song ever....) and the second song would then be Black Betty - Throttlerod, which is then followed by the doneys section with Halo - Soil. Hope that helps. Anyone know the first song from AndyTKoxxTWO? Rich

Trials discs run by the likes of Bruno Arnold on the old megamo's solved this problem quite nicely. The arms of the disc rotor didn't curve backwards (or forwards depending on how you look at it) and just went in a straigt line from the centre of the rotor near the mounting holes to the braking surface (which was undrilled). Thats a pic of Dani Comas's 26". where the arms of the rotors were in and X shape as you can see. Very cool stuff, and an area Leeson may be venturing into in the coming year. Custom trials discs...... Rich

What Are You Most Looking Forward To In 2006?
Rich Pearson replied to trialridertom's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
The hope pro 2 trials hub (whenever it gets here....), getting back into comps, both hampshire and devon. And yeah, summer should be pretty cool. Rich -
Is Porters bike about to kick him in the nuts in that pic at Lloyds? Also, loving the uber dab from Jon. Nice pics Mike, your facial expressions when you're riding just crack me up. Rich

My parents told me that I HAVE to have A-levels, so I agreed on the conditon that I didn't have to get a job. I would actually much prefer to have a FULL-time job. Part time jobs are absolute bollocks..... Rich
