Me and Sanger are just talking about it..... If we do manage to go, should make an interesting contribution to SWTCV3..... Rich P.S May be a VERY stupid question, but do you have to ride a Koxx to go to Koxx days?
-
I can.... Just thought I'd put myself out for a bit.. Ditto, me and the missus (freakishly thin thing) made up a new list of stuff I should start eating. Its horrible, it actually involves three meals a day and vegetables...... Others are/were: 1. Give up smoking (failed about an hour ago). 2. Stop bothering people about stuff i.e. badgering Matt Tupman about comps, moaning at Clive Leeson about frames, ringing HopeTech every five minutes about hubs, etc.... 3. Get to work on SWTCV3...... Sweetness Bigness... I wouldn't have expected anything less from you after the last few rides we've been on, good stuff. Keep it up mate, see you soon hopefully. Rich

Cool! The one of the guy getting hooned by the train was awesome... Full vid of man getting arm bitten by crocadile Just thought I'd put this up so's you can see just how dumb some of these people are. As I said to bigman when I first saw it, "Slap a crocadile a few times, stick your arm in its mouth and then expect NOT to get bitten?!" Good find. Rich

I'm hoping to rustle up a posse and head over on Tuesday, however I still am lacking the power of speech and havn't eaten anything for a good two days (oh yeah, I had a f**king kick ass new years.... ) but if I am all well and good by tuesday then I'll definately be heading over. If anyone else wants to join us its well worth it, this place has got something for everyone. Rich

Erm, just had a look at the D.O.B on your sig, did a little maths (its been a while...), and..... well..... you're 13.... Holy Shit you're good...... Downloaded both vids and I can safely say there was plenty of stuff I just couldn't have done being a good 5-6 years older (sidehops onto rails... ) Site was good, if a little slow to load up. But its simple, easy to navigate and looks cool. Nice one. Rich

I'm with you on that one. I was sure he'd just tucked it into his helmet or something when I saw the pics... Don't you think thats a little narrowminded? Chris and Ash just happen to live close to each other, are good mates, and Chris has this amazing talent that people who are interested in the sport of trials who live in the surrounding area are proud of. It's like us southerners and Andrei Burton, people like Chris and Andrei are something to be proud of, not envied. And, good God, have you ever met Ash Kennard? One of the nicest, openminded blokes I've ever met..... Sweet video Andy, really, REALLY liked it. I think the close up stuff gave it quite a cool feel to it. Hope Chris has another funday, last time I was there I was recovering from two broken ankles and could barely ride.... Rich

Post The Oldest Photo You Have Of You Doing Trials!
Rich Pearson replied to squince's topic in Trials Chat
Thats got to be the oldest pic of me around, although I may be able to find the odd one of me on my saracen.... Oh and Tic, theres one pic which should definately be on there: Dan Campbell's treeride can-can.... Rich -
Common tarts are like mopeds. Or fat people. They're fun to ride, but you don't want your mates to see. Rich

Should be a few people heading over to West Bay in south Dorset on the friday. The place is a playground of giant rock sea defenses and very streety concrete structres around the sea front. Theres some guys going anyway from Honiton and providing my new rim arrives tomorrow and my cold doesn't get any worse, I should be there, probably with Alex and maybe a few others. PM me for deatils if you're interested in coming, or just type West Bay into mapquest. Come out and play. Rich EDIT: Change of date due to unexpected metorological changes and excruciating tonsilitus on my part.

I do occasionally wonder if people will ever learn from some of the mistakes that I have already made before them. Not so much these days.... Hope you're ok buddy, get well soon. Rich

Who Is The Best Rider Out There?
Rich Pearson replied to LukeDraisey! :)'s topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Erm, he did blow his ankle to smitherines a few months prior to that..... Its really hard to say who's the best. I've never heard of either TRA or Ryan Leech (just to pick two riders from different ends of the spectrum) entering any kind of comps, but they are in many peoples eyes the best riders in the world. Someone like Hermance on the other hand, although relying muchly on videos (props to AndyT) to promote himself, has numerous competition results to back himself up with, but all Leech and TRA do is make videos and ride demos. But if I had to choose anyone, it'd have to be one of the Koxx riders like Kenny or Vincent. Andrei Burton, Wayne Mohamet, Danny Mackaskil (sp?), Chris Doney and Tim Steadman also get my vote for maybe-not-top-riders-now-but-definate-competitors-for-the-future. Fred Judd kicks ass aswell.... Thanks for the replies people. Have just been away for a few days at the missus and have had an amazing Xmas, so I hope everyone elses has gone as well. The rear disc is simply amazing. It's completely silent as I HATE the sound of maggies, it locks harder and sharper than any rim brake i've felt, yet without the harsh feeling behind it. It modualtes 1000 times better than a rim brake set up for the same lock would, and as the large drop gap in plymouth seems to testify, it holds like concrete. It just does not budge. I would recomend a disc to anyone of any riding style, from Felix to CLS, although saying all this, I do understand how people could never want to leave maggies. I just think they're wrong... (kidding fellas....) Cheers James. The drop gap in plymouth flatspotted the rhyno lyte and loosened a few spokes, and as I was in west bay a few days later (natural and urban mecca Nr Bridport, Dorset) I thought I might as well try and kill it. And... erm.... I succeded. Even though I rode out of shot after the drop, the wheel was buckled to a point where it wouldn't turn through the frame, about 15 spokes with no tension whatsoever, massive flatspots and dents all round. Nothing compared to some of yours, but meh, I'm getting there. It was early january this year that I was told I may never walk unaided again. In the doc's eyes riding a trials bike was totally out of the question. Will edit in about 30 years with updates on arthritus. Thanks again everyone, glad y'all liked it, and again, hope everyone had a kick ass Xmas and has a happy new years. Rich

However you look at it, people will always speed. There will always be people on the roads who will either simply not care that they are speeding, or, who will recklessley go out of their way to speed in order to get some kind of thrill out of it. Having a look in the Abingdon newspaper archives at around about May 2004 should be enough to convince anyone about the dangers of breaking the speed limit. Yet speed cameras, traffic officers and other speed-catching meathods will only decrease the number of people who speed, not wipe that number out. So all I'm saying is, if you don't want to drive fast, don't. Other people will no matter what you say, just remember that there is a difference between driving faster than the speed limit and driving dangerously. 90mph on the motorway is not dangerous; a policecar with no lights, siren, or indeed apparent intent of anything other than motorway patrolling has overtaken me before now when I was doing 85, without me being stopped. 40mph in a small town's highstreet is dangerous. Its 176mph Rich

Hey all I’ve collected a few clips of me riding the D15C frame over the last few months and thought it’d be worth making a video, seeing as I promised one earlier in the year. Its taken me and steve sanger a bastardly long time to figure out how to upload it, but we got there in the end. tv.isg.si link: D15CComplete The above link is actually two videos in one. The first part is the Leeson Clear 660 D15C promo video. The song is Take Your Best Shot by the band Dope. The second part is sort of a continuation of the video, sort of showing off some of the awesome photos Rob Passmore has taken of me recently, and is also a rough mock TV advertisement for the D15C which I’m hoping to use as part of my A-level media studies coursework. The song is Ruthless Gravity by Craig Armstrong (remixed for the Layer Cake OST). It’s all been a bit thrown together so I apologize if it’s not what everyone expected. Hope you all enjoy it nonetheless and as always, any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism or compliments are welcome. It’s been a very long year for the South West Trials Crew and Leeson Bikes, but I would - on behalf of both the riders behind SWTC and Clive and Kris at Leeson – like to thank everyone for all the support we’ve had over the past twelve months and look forward to only good things from the next twelve. Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year. Rich

Did anyone get a pic of me making the big drop gap at copthorn? I'm still in shock that I made it.... T' was an amazing weekend, the rolling gaps sanger and Jak Jak were pulling out were insane, and Andrei litterally scaling a cliff on a bike down at the Hoe was good to watch.... Awesome pics, will be back down that way again soon no doubt. Rich P.S: Big thanks to Hannah and Nick for sorting me out with a bed for the night. Lifesavers....

Hans was the first ever biketrials world champion and in the begininng was up there with Ot Pi. He also came up with a lot of the moves and techniques that we take as common practice today (I'm pretty sure he was the first person to use a front tap in comps, and think how many people use those today...). Hes also had more TV appearences and videos than Jenna Jameson, and is probably the most easily recogniseable face in biketrials, and in fact in mountain-biking in general. Libor Karas was also a world champion in his hayday, and was the designer of possibly the most used trials tyre on the market, the IRC El Gato. Both amazing riders, and worth checking out if you can find any related media. Rich

I remember when I was ickle Joe Baker (devonshire mototrials god) took me and a couple of lads out for a few lessons and it really helped improve my technique, so I say good on Ben for taking time out to give something back to the sport. Rich
