Whilst attempting to fix a busted mech and hanger I was putting the chain back on when suddenly something in the mech mounting jumped back into place, causing the drivtrain to suddenly regain tension, trapping two of my fingers between the chain and the cog. The tension on the chain was so high the only way to get my fingers out was to cycle the whole drive train forward, mangling my fingers even more. That bloody hurt.... I also once went for a 7 foot rolling gap on my old Echo ES2. Chainsuck occoured as I pedaled off the edge (where the chain gets jammed into the soft aluminium around the chainstay yoke, effectively locking the rearwheels forward motion solid. Phil Williams will know EXACTLY what I mean). This threw me over the bars and intergrated my face with the curb i had been aiming for. f**king Echo's.... Rich

The thing with front hopping is being able to find the comfortable balance point to keep consistantly hopping. As you say you can do about 8 or 9 so you've already understood the principal of hopping, all you need to do now is continuously try it, going further and further forward until you've got it dialled. You quite simply will have to come to terms with the fact that you WILL go over the bars at least a dozen times learning how to front hop. A large open space with soft landings like a park or a field is a good place to learn. A car park is not unless you have an unusual fondness for seeing your dentist..... A good tip for finding the balance point is; Find a slightly sloping incline, again, a grass landing is favourable, and ride down it, then pull the endo and start hopping. You'll realise that you don't have to go so far before you hit the balance point, and you should find it easier to hop. Once you've got it dialled on the slope, find something a bit closer to level, see if you can do it on that, then try it on a flat piece of ground untill you can do it like that. One other point is to not go into the move trying to do as many hops as possible, but to try and keep on the front wheel for as long as you can. Front hops are just like back hops in that each hop is a correction. I've seen people who can front hop and do about one hop every five seconds because thier balance is so good they don't need to hop as often, just enough to recentre the front wheel underneath them to keep the balance. Thats the best advise I can offer you as thats how I learnt them. Good luck, hope that all helps. Rich

Who's The Sexiest Trials Rider

LMFAO, I love it when trials riders get on the subject of women. We all act like we've never seen one before.... And just in general response to the last six or seven posts; Are you guys TRYING to scare all the trialsqueens away?! Still would have Lois over Susanne. No offence Suss, you're hot, but Lois has a welsh accent. Get's me every time.... Rich -
Sod it, havn't ridden a comp in ages and have been meaning to trek up north for a while just to see what all the fuss is about. Have just mapquested it.... 260miles, and should take a little over 4 hours if I obey all speed limits. So I'm setting off at 5am.... If you still need a lift James I should be able to help you out. Is an ACU license all you need then Wayne? How much is the entry roughly? Cheers Rich

Dude, havn't been able to get your vid yet, but if you have serious ankle problems, there is a guy who can help you. His names Simon Lord, he's a physiotherapist whos worked wiith the MK Dons (football team), all the Tartybikes lads, me, and many other people who have well and truly buggered ankles over the years. Hes located in Totness at the moment and if you need help with your ankle, hes the man to get in touch with. I shattered both my ankles on new years eve a year ago, and was told I'd never ride again. It was because of Si that I got back on the bike, and I'm now riding better than ever. Its seriously worth getting in touch with this bloke if you can. His MSN is silord@hotmail.com, hes a bloody nice bloke, and he WILL get you back on the bike, if you want to be. No kidding at all. I only offer because I've been in exactly the same place (I.e. having to face the fact that I just could not ride anymore) and I know how it feels. Hope he can help you mate. Rich

looks like I may now be coming out on about the 28th/29th. I'll be driving over on my own so if anyone can't make it with anyone else and needs a lift I'm sure something can be sorted out. Rich

Rob Passmores taken a few good 'uns of me over the years and his work kind of speaks for itself. You're welcome to use anything with me in it if you happen to come across it. Just can't be bothered to upload any at the moment.... Rich

Cool vid Dan. You could easily pick that up now and finish it if you went out and got some more footage. Looking forward to something bigger. Rich

Kick ass vid jonny. Really worth the wait with loads of good stuff. Can I just ask, and this may sound like a stupid question, but at about 1:01:05, what exactly is it that Manning was planning on or that you can't see in that shot? Becasue it looked bloody insane.... Oh, and Jon playing silly buggers with those little walls around the octagon in Reading was cool as well. Only a forty foot drop on the otherside onto concrete with no helmet or pads. Perfectly sensable...... Nice work Jonny, looking forward to seeing what next year brings. Rich

It happens. When Volume 2 went online tv.isg.si went down for a couple of hours due to far too many people trying to download it (I was rather pround of that...). I also got a stern e-mail from tv.isg.si's admin asking that I somehow release smaller vids. Meh..... Downloading now Jonny, should be good, hope I'm in it somewhere..... Rich

This is if its healed from SWTCV2, which took up two whole accounts, was nearly 600mbs, and took about a day to upload. Bigger may not be better, but its always fun to rub it in other people faces.... However TM2 should be a hell of a lot more worth the wait after Jonny gets is all sorted out (crashed at 10:30 for me too ). I reckon its like Simon said Jonny, and theres something that went wrong with the upload. Try uploading again and I reckon it'll get past the 10:30 mark. Just make sure when you have uploaded it you do a test download. Good stuff so far anyway, 24" section looks beasting. A small piece of trivia to tide people over: About two minutes after Jonny had been arguing with martyn ashton about getting him to introduce the vid, I asked martyn for the exact same thing for Volume2, and was turned down, however martyn did suggest I get jonny to introduce it instead, hence in V2 at the begginning of the bikeshow section theres Mr. J. Jones, introducing it. Rich

Who's The Sexiest Trials Rider

Girls Lois Morgan - God I would..... Nadine Stanniforth - Becasue she's tiny and loveable. Guys Chris Doney and John Shrewsbury - Two people that put far too much attention into their hair and makeup. Wayne Mohamet and Dave Marshall - Wayne being about 5'6 and Dave being something over six foot theres certainly differences, yet they both sport two very impressive sets of muscles (I think Dave has something like a ten pack now, you can just keep counting the abs.....) Porter - theres just nothing like watching the mud drip from a mans lips onto his ginger pubes as he sorts out his wang after faceplanting at a hampshire comp.... and Bigman - THE most hugable person in the entire sport of biketrials.... Rich
