To be honest stem overhang doesnt really matter too much for front wheel moves- as your technique/body positioning will adjust to whatever stem length you have. For backwheel moves, there are two things to consider- a) a shorter stem COULD to a degree make it easier to go to backwheel, because (i) you have less cockpit space, hence more freedom of movement, and (ii) perhaps more importantly, your bodyweight is further backwards, not learnt over the front of the bike. However, a longer stem could make the force needed to support your own weight while on the backwheel less, due to the increased leverage ratio you obtain between (rear axle-bar distance):(chainstay length) There are a million different factors to include, but these two are major ones, which are part of the reason you may find most trials riders have VERY short chainstays, to get the best of both worlds from both of the above

Frame looks pretty sweet, and ultra-sleek. I was trying to work out what makes it look weird, I think it's just the way the picture is taken makes the back wheel look much larger than the front.
-
Thanks for all the support guys, looks like it should be a pretty cool project Haha.

Frigggg meeeee the size of that gap by the guy on the monty mod.... Thats awesome. Is that someone off trials-forum?
-
Some big moves going down there.. I was gunna ask how tall are you and how long your wheelbase is, because it obviously isn't restricting your riding! Im about ur height and I often let it become something to blame when I couldn't do all the moves on my old stock, but I have lately been considering moving back to stock, or maybe 24", so its cool to see someone non-gigantic riding an uber-long stock.
-
nbr4 was one of my fave vids ever. Amasing oldskool riding, ever considered going back to the Judge Dan? T'was a man machine. Shame the gap between the two mini-fences (2nd clip) isn't the there anymore, some hooligan broke it. I miss riding ur old backgarden, it was the best place to learn and chill .

It's not the same, but you have would have to be blind to say they don't look really rather similar. The main differences I can see are a tiny gusset near the headtbe on the vario, and different CNC bit on chainstay
-
The stock just looks like a vario to me, is it the same? Probs a good bike though. The mod on the other hand looks sweeeeeet to me! The forks look uber long to me in that picture, reminds me of echo pure stock forks or smoething. With long forks/high bars, I dont see why that high a BB wouldn't help make sidehops huuuuuuuuugeeee®.

Thanks a lot gregtria, Does anybody else have any ideas to help me? Cheers, Scott

I have decided to make my A-level physics project be an experimental test to investigate the differing properties of brakepads for use in the Magura, both with official Magura brakepads and after-market pads. The problem is that I need to gather as many test-subjects as possible (and obviously at as little cost as possible- I'm not suppoosed to personally spend money on the project, although In some cases I will be willing to pay for postage). I have emailed some of the major companies that I would consider have solid rider-company communications, and I am currently awaiting responses, but does anyone have any more ideas I should consider, about who to contact, or how to aquire brakepads for testing? P.s. If anyone on here feels willing to send me some pads that they have stopped using, didn't get along with, broken/breaking pads (where the pad material can still be cut-down to give a flat surface for use in the experiment), or just spares, PLEASE get in contact with me! I would be eternally grateful!

Haha, my name was the longest there- the one at the very bottom. Meh, I don't really care

Thats a cool view on it all. I can certainly see your point, but I don't think it would work in all situations, for example: Lets say I think yo' momma is REALLY damned ugly. Does this mean I should go tell her, and get it out in the open? I think it would be a wiser decision to just put this emotion to the back of your head and ignore it (or, if you are gunna tell your mates and have a giggle about it, make sure it DOESNT get back to yo' momma. What you don't know can't hurt you.)

*quotes ALL posts so far in this topic* I aggree too, great.

ROTF, that would be amusing. Personally, Im not a major fan of religion, I see it as a form of misguiding/brainwashing the masses, with huge expense to our societies. It does however have a few good effects- it can guide people into leading more positive lives which can have a knock-on effect on improving a lot of attitudes in the world, even if this is done by people possibly "living a lie" in my opinion. But perhaps living for something that isn't true isn't as bad as it sounds- it gives you something to look forward to, think of, etc.. Overall, my personal belief is that the world would be a much better place if ALL religion did not exist, as then people could live relatively normal lives without having so many contradicting beliefs. Think about it- supposedly every war in history has been caused by a clash of religions beliefs/beliefs on how to lead your life.

I sold my entire, almost complete merlins permier league 96 (i think it was 96) sticker collection the other day on ebay, got about a fiver for it posted lol. Must have cost a small fortune to get though.. P.s. Does anyone remember getting "Biker-Mice from Mars" Pogs out of boxes of Shreddies? I swear they just sum up the 90s in one go.

Ha, I had one of those! Awesome machines. P.s. for some reason, that pic of it doing a wheelie reminds me of what I was doing at work today while bored- having a competition with another bike hire member of staff to see how far we could wheelie/manual an electric disability scooter for old people, its virtually like wheelieing a small car!

http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....31&hl=echo+pure Thats thread said it was the "seatless" Echo pure.. so which is it?
-
They ride awesome, and incredibly light, springy and flicky. However, treat them with a litlle respect. They are plenty strong enough for your trialsing, but do eventually crack.
-
Kenny Baeley rides mod? I didnt know that, would like see some footage in vids.
-
Yeh, it probably was a tibo then. I just remember that at the time I thought it looked sweet and trialsy as you like.
-
Oh My God. Since when has timewarping even been possible? Some of the coolest riding I have ever seen. Gotta get more vids out more often, as has been said before, we all need it! Makes me more with the idea of getting a short 24" with high BB, stuff sidehops!

This has been puzzling me, but i GOT THE ANSWER! "Bruises caused by me punching people" Think about it and read the riddle: One man has six of them, two men have 8. Cos i punched one guy lots for making this friggin riddle, then punched another guy twice for the hell of it If women have them, they are halved. Because Im a nice guy, so I only beat women half as much If children use them, they have 18. Cos they can be pains in the ass I have none, but you have several. Obviously I'm not gunna punch myself. They are red at day and black at night. Bruises, duh.

Great pics. I might have seen u in hastings before, by the seaside, almost 2 years ago- did you and a mate who rode together have a silver koxx and a lush matt black zebdi?

Suppoosedly the tensile strength of each spoke is around 2% weaker or something because of the anodising process, but they also supposedly flex a miniscule bit better because of it, which makes the wheel (unnoticably) bouncier, and reduces wheel-pretzelling. Personally, I very much doubt you will find any difference.

Water may contain miniscule impurities of air if not distilled or whatever, but at the end of the day it doesnt matter. The effect at the lever of your lever and frame's combined flex will be as much, if not more than the effect of the undistilled water compressing when you pull the lever hard. If you get bubbles of air in it, it is not just from the natural content of air impurities in the water, it is due to a bad bleeding technique, or air entering the system somehow, e.g. through a hole in your hosing, a bolt not being done up properly, or the ends of the hosing not forming a perfect seal. Just bleed ur brake well in tap water, or if you dont trust that, use magura oil, and go ride . But water gets a vote from me
