  1. Shit, got a wedding to be at on the Saturday
  2. Well now you're both just being silly
  3. I'd never hit my missus with the intention of causing harm (so play-fighting aside) but if she did it to me she'd be on the floor in an arm lock until she calmed the f**k down. Its not right to hit a woman precisely because you are (normally) stronger than them and should use that to stop them passively, not lamp them back. If the guy hasn't got the balls to put her in her place then he should be looking for a way out fast, she doesn't sound like someone who is going to change otherwise.
  4. Sorry man, sarcasm detector fail
  5. Surely you'd be needing a higher performance adhesive than a cyanoacrylate?
  6. That's what I thought when I popped over to the technicians to ask them to drill it out for me! But after regrinding a 12mm bit 5 times and each time getting about a micron deeper it was clear it wasn't worth ruining several drill bits over. If you DO manage to drill through them though, they're great cams!
  7. Don't Middleburn offer lifetime warranty? Although I don't know what their track record is with trials claims...
  8. Please note that you will not be able to drill the Echo Chro-Moly cams as they are hardened. That is unless you have access to a heat treat capable oven (luckily I'm chummy with the uni metallurgist!).
  9. After seeing what they can handle, I'll probably get some (or the similar ones done by Northwave etc) next year when I hopefully have a bit more disposable income.
  10. Why can't you just do a normal International Bank Transfer? That's usually the cheapest method.
  11. I've been on rides with my dad where we've had to ride through streams and he's come out with dry feet wearing these.
  12. The eventual energy crisis will mostly be down to developing countries with ever increasing populations (China and India being the biggest players) and their domestic and industrial energy demand accelerating massively. For every bit ourselves, the US and other major energy consumers save through renewables etc developing countries require more and more. I see the energy problem as quite similar to the world's wealth "problem". I think it goes something like 5% of the world has 95% of the wealth, I wouldn't be very surprised if the same was true of domestic energy demand. Imagine now, if every person on the planet consumed as much energy as YOU do. It's an impossible situation and one which is fast approaching us as more and more countries transition to the lifestyle we ourselves are now accustomed to - fridges, microwaves, electric ovens, central heating, air conditioning. Not to mention industrial demands. Ultimately, unless the problems being discussed in this thread are solved comprehensively, the only option that would allow continuation of the life we know today, would be a restriction on birth rates. There are too many mouths to feed and eventually the human race as a whole could suffer for it. Another parallel to this is the increasing occurrence of water shortages, even in this country we are beginning to have issues, with hosepipe bans almost a certainty every summer. It genuinely frightens me a bit, after studying a module basically revolving around this last term, that the world is fairly happy to just ignore the impending issues to some extent. Even worse that people, as evidenced in this thread, refuse to take any responsibility themselves despite being educated on the issues.
  13. Go to about 2:00 into the UNEDITED video, you can clearly see several of them carrying AK-47s. The reason they are standing around casually is because the Apache is probably hovering miles away out of sight. I can only imagine the edited video conveniently skips over these details to portray the pilot and gunner in as bad a light as possible. The Reuters reporters will have understood the risk of meeting militia and it's unfortunate that in this case they got caught up in the fighting. The firing on the guys collecting the bodies is a more dubious matter sure, but they are still obviously associated with the militia and bringing your kids to a scene of death and such obvious danger is just crazy
  14. BBC News - obvious really Remember The Milk - Task manager/to-do list, probably not much use to you as you're "just" a school pupil, but for students and professionals you may find it quite a useful tool for remembering all those little things to do as well as coursework deadlines etc. The online service is free, the app is free for 15 days or something then you need to upgrade to a pro account.# 2 Player Reactor - Pretty addictive reaction game Slice It! - Kind of similar to Fruit Ninja on iPhones Convertpad - converts any unit to any unit really Task Manager - Shut down stuff you aren't using Smart Alarm Clock - Monitors your sleep and wakes you up at your most active in a specified slot - means you should wake up more awake Zombie, Run! - Cool GPS based game that generates zombies on Googlemaps and you have to run away from them
  15. You don't have to be caught watching a TV, if you have a TV and they also find evidence of receiving equipment then you are in breach of the law. It may in fact be the case that they only need to find the receiving equipment (this includes any aerial) although I'm too lazy to double check that. I've heard (i.e. have no evidence to prove so) that they have equipment which can detect aerials specifically for TV signals due to their wavelength operating range, and that's how they can find if people in unlicensed addresses could be watching TV.
  16. Shoes are VERY personal. You're best off going to your LBS and trying on as many different brands and sizes as possible to find what suits your foot best, there's plenty of guides online to help you choose. As for pedals I've got these, used them for my 8 mile each way commute during my placement year including Winter and 6 mile trip to uni now. Never had any problems and, thanks to their shape, you can ride in flat shoes without too many problems. I think that's the base model, but you can get all carbon, titanium, etc jobbers too.
  17. Track pump and a football valve fitment got mine on, didn't use any lubrication and they haven't moved in the 9 months+ they've been on.
  18. So building offices and a garden centre are obviously the ideal solution!
  19. If more people used Kings then yeah maybe!
  20. Measure the bolts across their threaded part. If it's 15mm then they are M15 bolts, if it's 12mm they are M12 bolts and the Echo bolts won't fit. If this is the case then you can get M12 bolts from NC-17 in various colours here!
  21. There is no gap between the drive and driven rings, their teeth are constantly in contact. The rasping/buzzing sound of a King wheel spinning are the teeth on the rings riding over eachother under pressure from the drive spring. As Mike said there's 72 teeth in each ring giving 72 engagement points over a full rotation of the drive shell, the only way to get more would be to increase the number of these teeth.
  22. If you get a King, put a couple of hundred miles on it using a "normal" bike first to ensure the drive teeth are well bedded in to eachother. Then service it, preferably using a lighter oil such as Finishline Wet Lube before starting to use it for trials.
  23. This is really nerdy but I absolutely love this type of question! (bullet and hanging target) haha If I'd got here sooner I'd have been all over it but it's already past my bedtime... The one's where you have to calculate the angle of swing are the meatiest
  24. You don't get much more bang for your buck than 4130. No idea on Marino pricing though.
