  1. What the hell does that even mean? You want him to drop 100 what? If its pounds then he'll struggle getting a motherboard for -£40 and that price for a graphics card is about what you want to pay if your just a casual gamer. A £30 graphics card is more of a waste of money than an expensive one because the cheap ones are good for f**k all. He's also specifically said he wants to play cod4 on an almost high definition resolution so that card should just about handle that game at full settings with a decent frame rate. Only thing i would say is it might be better dropping to an energy efficient Q6600 rather than the Eseries processor as you really won't see much difference between the two. Unless your gonna be hammering massive sessions of supreme commander with several thousands of units per side you won't need a cpu faster than a mid range dual or the trusty q6600's. The energy efficient Q6600 will be cheaper on the leccy bill though and should run cool too, so it'll be quiter. Its also cheaper than the dual core your loking at getting.
  2. See, you do understand it. You got it pretty much spot on mate, according to the art departments dyslexia specialist people who struggle with writing and maths because of dyslexia and form negative associations with them, which makes visual activities such as art and sports far more appealing. Apparently the associations can be made so early on in a child's life that they don't even know they are dyslexic. If I'm being honest i think of myself as being competent at both reading and writing, though i do continually read the same lines of a book sometimes and if it wasn't for my spell checker on web pages there'd be a tonne of spelling mistakes in what i write, although i'm unsure as to whether this is actually dyslexia or spazzy typing fingers.
  3. Bit of trivia knowledge for you. People suffering from dyslexia usually find visual images easier to learn and manipulate, so they can pick up things like japanese/chinese language a bit easier. Also for the same reason, a high percentage of art students suffer from dyslexia.
  4. Cable is ntl and virgin media, think some sky packages might include cable too but i'm not quite sure. Most broadband uses a telephone line and therefore is line rental, fibre optic and cable don't have it.
  5. The package deals aren't really that great, and work out being a little bit expensive for what they are. You'd be better doing things seperately, at least that way if your all downloading things you can switch internet provider without losing the tv channels too. Though if you just go with bethere/o2 broadband then you won't need to change.
  6. Have you already got the screen sorted? If you have let us know what it is and its resolution so we can aid you better with the graphics card. though at the minute i'd say the best bang for buck graphics card for around £100 is an 8800gt, with the new ATI 48** series being the best (price:performance) at a slightly higher price.

    Euros

My local tesco's has a euro's option on the prices of things. Looking to spend some of my coins there tomorrow.
  8. Not all the time, but on a once off and if you let others drive your car regularly... more than likely. As its a civil law thats been broken they can't just pass it off as being you because you own the car. Owning the car is not against the law, letting other people drive it is not against the law (provided insurance is covered) and not keeping a track of where you were or who was driving is not against the law either. They are the ones prosecuting, so they need sufficient evidence to prove its you who's committed the offence so as not to cause a massive injustice. Similarly... Its the reason why service providers don't get sued for copyright infringement whilst they have people downloading illegal material through their connections. They aren't using it themselves and so haven't comitted an offence. I tell you what does irritate me though. Te adverts that say "you wouldn't steal a car.... movie pirating IS stealing!". It isn't theft, theft is defined as requiring an intention to deprive a person of their property, so that the owner nor anyone else can use it. If you copy an album or a movie the original owner can still use it and do what they want with it. Thats why new legislations had to be written and put in place specifically for copyright infringement. At the end of the day its the big companies that are funding and pushing for these crackdowns because they are the ones that will lose out on the most money. They're blaming it for an all time low in bands receiving payment for their music. The RIAA's own records show this as not being true at all. Music industry profits are just as big as ever, its the sales of CD's that are going donwhill. The problem lies in the fact that rather than updating the music industry and cutting down on the numbers of cd's produced, they are blaming the decline in CD sales on ilegal downloaders. They aren't taking into account stores like itunes where people can buy single songs without needing a cd and without having to buy the whole album to get the one song they like.
  9. If your still wanting things to download use online filestores like rapidshare over torrents. The reason for the huge costs with torrents is that they charge based on the fact that your sharing it with thousands of people. If you use a direct link... theres no sharing. The only thing they can do is charge you for damages to the artists/publisher which would be the cost price for a film/song. If you use an unsecured wireless router i'm not sure how that one works either. Its negligeable for you to leave it unsecure yes... but you've not actually comitted an offence so it'd be hard to find someone to take to court for it. I know my dad got out of paying a speeding ticket because the camera didn't show it was him driving and he regularly lets friends/family use the car. It was something along the lines of them having insufficient evidence to prosecute him so they sent a letter of apology.
  10. Different kind of pool mate Beau was injured late at night in a local park area on his own, which from the sounds of things, the pool was a pond/lake type object. This is a swimming pool, in the daytime, with someone standing nearby. I fail to see how this isn't an amazing idea besides getting water in your bearings etc.
  11. It would, but its speed would depend upon whats on it. A webpage and online file store for images for example would be fine if its for personal use, but if it was free for anyone on the net it would run out a lot quicker. Anyway, he didn't say he was hosting a webserver, he said he was hosting a site. Anything with an upload of over 100k would be more than ample for displaying a web page for a non-heavy traffic site.
  12. Bit late, but happy birthday none the less buddy.
  13. First of all... what the hell? Are you even reading what i wrote? I don't remember mentioning that it put me off at all, let alone forever. Why should you have to be persistent with them? Effectively your paying to do something you enjoy... why should it be hard? I also don't know why your trying to reason with my statements. You made a thread asking for what people want. I told you, yet rather than take them on-board your trying to defend the competitions. Is it really so hard to get an extra person to help out who is going to man a bbq with some cheap £2 for 20 burgers from the local supermarket? Especially if your going to the trouble to getting an squad of observers. Sod nutritional needs, i wantz burgerzz!!!1!11one Besides, the idea of the burgers was just a suggestion based on something that appeared very popular at the DJ ride. It was just one of the points that accumulated to a good day. The comp scene just doesn't really appeal to the vast majority because it seems far too formal. People turning up at random hill-sides getting marked on their points to put them through to other rounds and things. What i'm trying to say is.... If the competition was easily accessible in/close to a central town/city with a variety of obstacles, where your free to ride in a creative way with extra points being given for better lines/moves more people just might want to turn up. Prizes given for winners would be awesome and a bit of an incentive. Maybe, just maybe having head to head challenges as well. Get two identical sections and have riders race to the end with no dabs, whoever does it first wins. Just general fun antics that most people get for free on a street ride. If we're paying money to compete, why shouldn't it be fun, varied and interesting rather than the same old boring format of choose your section and ride through a couple of times under the clock. Have sidehop competitions over poles, tapping contests etc... It doesn't take too much effort to sit down and think of some new things for people to do, hell a manualling contest only needs a start line and someone to look at when each person stops manualling.
  14. No picture of the faceplant = didn't happen. I've seen people recover from angles worse than that.

    Pussy...

Ha ha, brilliant wording mate Made me chuckle
  17. To be fair, i don't know how he got it as mis-construed as that. Its pretty clear what you meant adam I never thought for one minute that you were throwing in a jibe at plazzies.
  18. That's what downhill riding and beer gardens are for
  19. Whilst riding natural is usually pretty interesting and a good day out with the right company, comps seem far less "fun". Everyone says a brief hello and that's about it, with the exception of Adam and a couple of others at the last comp i observed for there was no talking, no banter and it seemed to have a pretty shit atmosphere. At the end of the day there was a big announcement for everyone who'd helped organise the event through the years, but there didn't seem to be a mention of a thanks for the observers for the day (if there was i never heard it from 6-7 feet away) only the riders thanked the observers. Kind of got me a little disheartened, not too much to say thanks to the observers for the day. Its also such a hassle getting there and getting sorted. There are entry fees to be paid in advance, forms to fill out... the actual events are never in easily accessible locations which adds more effort and expense into getting there. Street riding is far more relaxed, your own style comes into play a lot more. Its always lively and full of banter and its cheap and easy to get to. I think if the event was worth it there'd be a lot more people there. Take the DJ ride for example. Easily over 100 riders there and more people who weren't competing and everyone just had a laugh riding how they wanted doing things they liked doing. It was great, there was cheap food (like £1 a burger on the bbq), good company and great riding. It was a brilliant day out really, and fairly easily accessible. If the comp scene branched into things like that, places near the towns/city centres in the middle of the country on courses made up of obstacles people are used to or non-muddy rocks and I'm sure there'd be a lot more people going. No rules on clothing etc (who wants trousers in bright sunshine?) and no allowances for bash's or pedals on the obstacles (nobody rides as destructively as that nowadays anyway) so its how everyone is used to riding.
  20. The whole lot would come to about £10 to £15. Hardly a big deal "upgrading". I think it would be much better if you actually worked out what you wanted. You come across as just having money to spend for the sake of it. If your not too fussed about games then don't get a console... its as simple as that. Whilst they might have other features like streaming media and stuff, games is really all they do. Going on the internet using a console is horrible, just get yourself a laptop if that's what your wanting to do. Though the games you'll be playing will be on low resolution with no graphics options allowed (so they'll look like doom effectively).
  21. I think you'll find your parents just care about you, which is completely normal. My parents don't stop me from doing it, but they don't understand why i go riding and they hate watching bails and things, but they don't actively discourage me. They just don't want to see me seriously injured. Now i'm at uni though, it doesn't matter.
  22. That sucks... get on the plane maybe and claim jet lag if you fall asleep?
  23. ] I'd love to know where your getting this idea that your going to be able to upgrade your xbox and laptop. Xbox upgrade = new hard drive... thats it. Upgrades for a laptop realistically consist of changing the ram (cheap as hell now anyway) and changing the hard drive. You can't upgrade the graphics card on a laptop as they're usually tucked away and specific to that laptop model. 360 and ps3, both look and play the same, only differences are the controller shapes and some console specific titles. ps3 has the blu ray capabilities but the xbox should do soon too (you've already said you won't be buying blu ray movies so its kind of a moot point anyway). A laptop also won't even compare gaming wise to a xbox or ps3, if you want a windows based gaming platform you'll need to buy a tower unit. and for around £300-400 you can get one thats far superior to both consoles. A laptop more capable than either console though will set you back somewhere in the region of £900-£1500.
