  1. To create Alumiplastitecture.
  2. What are these brakes? They must be made of the same material as captain Americas shield to cost that.
  3. Shocker- theres more to trials riders than just trials riding. Edit: do any of the riders in the picture actually use magura parts?
  4. Madmanmike - just been trawling through this thread. See you have an oil issue. Have you done a compression test? That would soon show issues with rings/ valves. Also i like the Crankcase breather theory. I dont know that engine at all. But itll either have a fixed port orifice or pcv valve. If these become bad, particlarly the Pcv, itll cause high vacuum in the crankcase. So literally hoover oil into intake manifold. Freezing could be an option, though doubtful as the blowby contains water which could in theory freeze. But the oily residues should counter that. Easy way to see if pcv is working is to remove oil cap with engine running. Place hand or peice of card over top. Should jiggle about, or get held in place lightly. Serious vacuum would indicate a pcv valve stuck open, no vacuum or positive pressure would indicate pcv clogged or too much blowby... Rings.... Just bare in mind crankcase breathing usually has pipe before and after throttle.
  5. Kinda like old gits anonymous. "hi, im dave, im 30 and i having a cycling problem" "hi dave". I used to ride trials from 90's to mid 00's. Just started back up in Oct last year. I too felt maybe I was too old, but once you get back on and realise it all comes flooding back and is so much more fun than going to gym. Who cares!
  6. As a result I now get told to "have fun on my Nazi bike" when i go riding.
  7. Does your lever not have a date stamp? Those old levers look so "solid".
  8. God the grief I got from the other half when i got my Tactics. According to her, the centre logo looks nazi. Admittedly the centre one does resemble the Iron Cross. Then the outer lines do bare a vague resemblance to a swastika. Lovely. Hah!
  9. Ive got a feeling those levers didn't make it to 2002, i have a white lever same shape as 2004, but date stamped 2001. Looks good though.
  10. Im not saying thats a definate, dont want to cause a huge shimano war. But yes i feel flex maybe a contributer to caliper failure.
  11. Exactly, the 'flex' in the adaptor allowed the 'solid' caliper to crack, and snap. A more solid adaptor, hayes, etc, would minimise flex more than the matchstick shimano one.
  12. Thank goodness for that. I dont think the skiny-ness of the adaptor helped the caliper either. With such a large void between frame mounts and caliper holes some form of bracing or reenforcement(sp?) wouldnt go amiss.
  13. I am not saying as a definate, as i've no other failures to go by. But, i'm not entirely sure it was down to adaptor. The point at which the sheer is in the adaptor looks to match the pivoting effect of the upper caliper hole sheering. Taking the caliper backwards, inturn sheering the adaptor, finally, snapping the caliper at the bottom. I am not a scientist, or a git. Its just what it looks like. I still love everyone. Does that statement stop me getting mass hate? Haha.
  14. Now i feel guilty. Sorry, ment no real disrespect. You're obviously very talented riders. I like your videos, this one just isn't a favouite.
  15. Turbo Pad Adjuster implies lack of allen key to adjust. Its got APA or Allen pad adjuster. Lol!
  16. I'd never consider buying one but I loved the old Cannondales. Just oozed quality, the smoothed welds, oh and logo on the downtube. Used to love the look of the killer v when i was a squirt.
  17. Wrong answer. Lol. Was looking for comments about better in black. Bugger. Must admit indo like the white, but have a black M395 waiting to go on front. Seriously though. Power wise im happy with them, but i dont have any other disk brake for comparison. Sorry for the unconclusive answer.
  18. Thank you, considering the vast majority has been built to a fairly tight budget I'm very pleased so far.
  19. Hello, minor updates. Magura - after advice from the forums I decided to take mine out of retirement. Had to get 4 bolt mounts and booster. Thank you Ebay. Still in two minds over spraying brake black. I have a black Shimano disc waiting to be fitted to front. Yum! Tactics. Nearly finished. Still need to build front wheel. Next month maybe.
  20. Isnt bb30 a pressfit standard?
  21. No doubt better riders than myself. Just didnt feel trials, or even street trials. Was street in my opinion. All they needed was some front suspension and no front brake. Oh, and a 1/4 pipe.
  22. I believe he's going to put clear coat on.
  23. I find this happens with all syringes. I think they are medicinal one use type affairs. Everyone i've ever bought has been sealed. Perhaps open air causes swelling?
  24. Still think i prefer alu, takes regular threads, repairable to a degree.. Helicoils, over sized threads. But the breakages and issues i've seen have been more XC whippet types. Has anyone else seen that youtube video with a MT8 seaping oil out of the weight saving holes at the back of the lever. Literally looks like someone squeezing a sponge.
  25. Must admit i've been put off buying new magura stuff. Especially the Carbotecture levers. I dont care how strong their tests say it is. A short Google search brought up numerous stripped threads, oil leaks, and one sheered lever.
