  1. My arb bushes always groan on a cold day, it's very irritating!
  2. How does that shift light thing know when it's time to shift?
  3. It's not for me, it's for my parents to replace their B6 A4 1.9TDI as my brother wants it. I'm slowly convincing dad that he does not need a diesel anymore (they do 5k per year in each car but he's still adamant that its worth getting another diesel even after showing him that he won't save any money). He doesn't want another E46, we have a touring (with M-tech stuff on, some sort of limited edition) and it's just thoroughly disappointing in every possible way. Nothing about it is nice, they really dislike it which concerns me as the E90 looks rather similar inside... which pretty much leaves us with an A4 which I know they will be happy with as they really love their current one. Basically they don't really care for power, just a nice looking car with decent economy and plenty of comfort (dads 74 and mums 64) which rules out anything moderately fun I have tried suggesting other brands but dads pretty insistent that he wants either an Audi or a BMW I agree with older/interesting think although they can be pretty high maintenance as rubbers perish and stuff, I'm still eyeing up getting a 944 to replace my 9-3 once it keels over.
  4. Has anybody got experience with the BMW 1.8D engines, specifically the 07> ones that come in the E90?
  5. I'm up to date with it, it's awesome!
  6. Spotlight isn't indexing, so thats another thing to cross off the list.... Mine can only go to 8GB ram, although I'm sure that is plenty for what i need, even 4GB is! I found that the Mail thing is soaking up some CPU speed, for some reason it wants to load EVERY email in my inbox, rather than the last 50 like my iPad/iPhone do? Can I change that? I will try Sophos, I have to have an antivirus on there to be allowed on the school network anyway
  7. Cheers for your help Tomm! I think a ram and HD upgrade is on the cars regardless. Battery does 2.5 hours so isn't bad but shouldn't it do more like 4 or 5? Could replace the battery whilst i'm there you see. What HD and ram did you go for? I have done the repair/verify thing, nothing has changed. Activity monitor says: System 70% idle Memory 1GB inactive HD 300GB free So something is eating up my ram, I have 5 tabs open (FB, eBay, TF, Hotmail and a Mac forum) so they shouldn't be consuming too much. I have not got any programs installed yet, and have closed any pre installed ones that I have opened when exploring
  8. I wouldn't touch it outside personally, you have made an already good looking car just that little bit better, anymore and it'll start to look chavtastic. Concentrate on what's going on underneath/make the interior less gormless 3 glow plugs went in successfully (ish) in the Saab, 1 old plug had a rather flat looking thread which concerns me but the new plug went in fine so fingers crossed it stays put... annoyingly the 4th plugs nut just spins suggesting somebody has attempted to replace it but failed, but its still threaded in so it'll just have to stay, I feel fortunate enough to get 3 working ones in! Now to wait until tomorrow when the cars completely cold and see if the old girl starts nicely. Oh and I need to find out whats going on with that noisy belt/pulley...oh the joys of owning this car
  9. Yeah that was going to be my next option but I didn't want to go before seeing if there were any simple easy to fix reasons for its slug like performance Apple are very good for after sales care, they have replaced my iPad twice with no fuss (although it's disappointing that all 3 iPads have been unreliable I guess...)
  10. I just acquired a MacBook Pro, it has had a wipe and fresh install from Apple and so should be running pretty sweetly. Unfortunately this is not the case, it is slow to do anything (even opening a new tab on Safari), it always comes up with that rainbow wheel thing and is just thoroughly disappointing compared to my 5 year old Toshiba poverty laptop which it was supposed to be replacing! I mainly want to use this laptop for the internet and for Word/PowerPoint stuff for my teaching, so I am not asking much of it at all. I have the 2.66 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 4GB 1067 MHZ DDR3 ram and the version 10.6.8 of the Snow Leopard operating system and I am currently downloading Mountain Lion in the hope it'll make some kind of difference (slow net connection means it'll take a while to download). Can anybody think of a reason why the laptop may be playing up? I did winder if the hardrive was perhaps getting tired out as it is nearly 3 years old and causing it to be slow, it isn't that noisy though so that suggests its probably alright still although I am tempted to by an SSD to keep it running quickly (I don't need much storage space as this isn't my main computer). Are there any settings that I can adjust to get better performance out of it? I'm new to Mac computers so i'm not really aware of what I can do with these things yet compared to a windows PC. Cheers in advance!
  11. Tinting just the clear part can look good sometimes, however Leons don't exactly have minging rear lights as as standard anyway so I wouldn't bother. It could be the last day the Saab runs tomorrow, glow plugs are being changed and there is a chance they will snap. I'm not spending anymore money on it to get it back to working order so it'll be new car time and au revoir to the Saab
  12. It's easy to do yourself either with spray tint or vinyl wrap such as lamin-x
  13. Ultimates are lovely and smooth, but power wise I didn't honestly notice a difference between them and my Deores/SD7s... Same amount of noise too
  14. When I start my car I get a squeal from my aux belt. It was replaced about 25k ago along with the tensioner and steering pump. I'm wondering if my alternator pulley has started to seize as it makes a squeak when I turn the engine off too. Anybody got any bright ideas of how to find out? I guess I could change the belt to see if that fixes the noise (could be glazed?)
  15. CRV backings are longer than magura ones so you would need to cut some material to fit them
  16. So if a cars dropped 40mm, should the droplinks be 40mm shorter too? I had wondered if I should shorten mine, or modify them so they are adjustable. They look easy enough to shorten!
  17. Now for the inevitable bitch job of removing the old corroded in front struts from the hub (assuming they haven't been removed ever that is).
  18. Cheap and last ages, Best budget ones I have used Got some festoon bulbs from them too and had no issues with LEDs burning out. Used to buy them straight from China but can't be bothered with the waiting time! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370729528728?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

  20. I would definately need to know at least 2 weeks in advance, my weekends seemt to get consumed far too easily!

  22. Cheers for the tips dude Never seen those digital protractors, I just ordered one! I have a manual mandrel bender, but It only goes up to 2" tubing good enough for bike tubing though!
  23. I need to try this sand packing technique, how do you plug the ends? I need to finish my hydraulic bender, I have dies but just never got round to actually sorting it all out!
