Eurgh, cars got glow plug problems again. They are are in solid and so I dont fancy snapping them trying to remove them I seem to remember reading that removing them when the engine is hot is the best plan as the head will have expanded? I'm installing XP mode on my laptop so I can use proper diagnostics (instead of Torque on my phone) to see if I can find out which plugs are dead

Run whatever the travel fork the frame is deisgned for, which is often the same as the rear travel. I have a 16" Marin i'm selling for not much if you want to try out FS on a budget? I ran it with 130mm forks and it felt good, just too small for me

You will have to get a new bb turned down to fit, and the old bb pressed out. It may be worth speaking to Clive Leeson about getting a BB done. You have an amazing frame there, I rode it when Dan had it and it was one of the best bikes I have ever had the pleasure to play on, so flicky!
-
Thats looks great! The seat suits it really well, reminds me of the Leeson carbon one. Any chance you can get the post on a lathe and turn it down so that it sits lower? I did that before on my Base years ago and it looked a ton better

and congratulations go to....(Marino Frame winner announced)CurtisRider replied to ben_travis's topic in Videos I won't have my bike built in time

CRC use collect+ and yeah it works well I have a collection point a few minute walk away luckily!

FINE, HERE'S A SHORT STEM... Nah tyes on there are some Kona Enter (from my old 98 Hahanna) and a Maxxis High roller right now. Got a redwall Panaracer Fire XC and a Schwalbe Big Betty sitting at home, and a few others that I can't quite remember. Annoyingly I don't have my Schwalbe Big Apple anymore, would have been perfect on the front
-
Yeah I know its a little bit long! I'm hoping that I still have some old stems at home, they will be pretty tatty but will do the job. Something around 90mm should be just right going by my last Pashleys. I have a DCD at home but seeing as its having horizontal dropouts fitted, it shant be needed I hated my old El Gatos, not going to waste money on them!

Some parts arrived today Eclat seat, XTR levers, Bendy noodles from HK, FSA stem (might be a touch too long but at least I can play around) and a new KMC Kool Fitted up along with some other bits. Not sure I like the seat, may look better when the frame is sprayed and there is a bigger rear tyre on there. Got a front wheel and chainring in the post (thanks to Isitafox and Banashapan!) and some spokes ready for me to build the proper rear wheel. Three piece cranks, SS kit and some proper tyres are waiting for me at home, I am hoping to get on the lathe and make a 1 piece bash instead of bash+spider setup that I have right now. It's nearly there now though!

They really are insanely rich, but the mansions pretty tatty I thought when I visited! One of his kids hoovered up a dog poo. True story
-
I may just add disc mounts whilst i'm at it, at least the option is there... Massive thanks to Isitafox and Banashapan for donating me a front wheel and a 5 arm chainring Not much else left to get now

Vice on a bench. Use some soft wood between the sprocket and vice jaws to protect the teeth and turn the wheel.

Indeed it is! And yes please, PM'd

How can somebody not like Vs? I have had plenty of Maguras in my time, and always gone back to V brakes and wondered why I ever changed! Personal preference and all that I whacked some spare Stylos and my MTB wheels onto the Pashley , the idea of dual disc is quite tempting now.... :$
-
Sticking with V brakes as I dislike Maguras rather alot and I already have Vs. I wondered about mounting them under the stays like I did on the 24 frame I made, as well as reverse mounts on the forks, although that will prevent me from doing any footjams if I wanted to do them again...

	PM'd

It's well out of my budget though

Hello, I am building up a trials bike and just wondered what chains people were running these days? I was going to go for the good old Kool chain like what I always ran, but noticed the Z610 HX is recomended too rather alot-is either a good choice? Cheaper the better, obviously i'm happy to spend more to retain my teeth. I am also wanting some chainring advice, I am going to be running 3 piece cranks and I have a 5 arm spider+bash that I can use-where can I source some a cheap 20-22t ring? Secondhand hasn't been fruitful and it seems as though CRC only have expensive ones left now! Alternatively I was looking at a BMX sprocket and noticed the DMR Spin 20T on CRC for £17 (2 quid cheaper than the Middleburn 5arm and weights less than my spider/ring/bash setup) http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=92881 I know that means skipping the bash (or bodging one on), but I don't intentionally ever go to bash and those can take a few hits can't they? I know my previous ones have Are there any other <25T BMX sprockets on a budget that people recomend? I know this is a trials forum but some people ride BMX too! Cheers in advance
-
Cheers lads can't wait to get it all built up Luke, that's a forum name I used to have on others so it was easy to remember! I had to change it for school teacher reasons (I did once have a Curtis, although it was a nasty thing)

Since getting back into mountainbiking again after my back operation, I have been gradually wanting to have a play bike again but lack of funds wasn't allowing it. One day I popped onto TF and saw a thread for a free Pashley frame and forks that needed some love, a few PMs later and it was mine Now this will never be a super slick awesome build due to minimal funds, just a simple reliable street bike that is built from cheap but reliable parts. I am fortunate to have a few parts leftover from my old GHZ (from a few years back) as well as parts removed from both mine and my girlfriends mountainbikes as they have been upgraded, giving me plenty of parts to get started with. So this is the frame and the parts I have so far: Whacked togther with what I have kicking about here at uni: Plan is to strip the frame and forks back, repair the frames broken V boss, replace the vertical dropouts with horizontal and give them a nice fresh coat of paint (either black, silver, maroon or red as thats all I have in the shed) Components I have so far (keeping an eye on weight, I find it interesting): Pashley 26 MHZ 2041g (£10 for courier) Pashley forks 994g (came with frame) Xt rear brake 221g (came with some forks I bought for my girlfriends bike) Btwin QR skewers 124g (came off my MTB) Tektro front brake 200g (came off girlfriends bike) Specialized front wheel 1041g (came off girlfriends bike) Hope Bulb ti rear 372g (£10) FSA Maximum bars 350g (came free with a frame I bought ages ago) Fly Reuben grips 128g (spares from my last MTB) Proper linear slick cable 78g (£5 in CRC sale) FSA Orbit Extreme headset 117g (came with frame) 2xstandard tubes 440g (from last MTB) Parts I have at home (Getting them mid Feb): Panaracer Fire XC 2.1 Schwalbe Big Betty 2.5 Premium lite 3 piece cranks with 5 arm spider and bash Wellgo B38 flat pedals Spanish fly pads Heatsink pads Superstar singlespeed kit Pauls V booster Sun Big Mammoth Fat rim Parts in the post: XTR levers (£15) Eclat padded seat/post combo (£10) FSA 120mm stem (free from Mark) Need to get: KMC Kool chain Spokes for rear wheel build Cost so far is £50, I am hoping to keep it under £100 in total. Thread will be work in progress. A MASSIVE thanks to Mark (eMAyaRKay) for his generosity and getting the frameset wrapped up, what an awesome fella!

Got a dremel or any wire brush attatchments for your drill? Should be easy to access then
-
Why anybody would want a bike that was so clumsy and weird looking as a 29 is beyond me. I appreciate the rolling benefits but for tecnical stuff they are gash, and we all know thats the best stuff

a bike inbetween the short street and the long hoppy hoppy (tgs)?CurtisRider replied to arw_86's topic in Bike Chat Base TA26 always felt like a happy medium to me, although you may find the BB height weird if you are used to super high BBs

Things are changing now though, kids are growing up with homosexuality being more 'socially acceptable' than when we were young, therefore as the years progress kids won't care all that much in comparison. We have to teach students about gay rights and how swinging the other way is ok if that is how they feel. I find less students seem to find being gay a bad thing now, with the word gay being used as a derogatory comment but without really realising what they are saying i.e. calling a pencil case gay instead of rubbish, they don't mean it actually has gay tendancies, they just use the word gay as a way of describing something negatively, the real meaning has become detatched for them
