  1. Before and after photos are always good, as are rough prices
  2. Nice job! How are you creating the bends in the tubing?
  3. Ha ha, I'm impressed you got out by youself. Thanks for ther offer but I may give the guy a ring shortly, see what the deal is and get some info. My main issue now is I need to shift my Saab in order to gain the Porsche, but I can't be without a car right now. Oh and i need to convince Sarah that it is a sensible decision to buy a 28 year old car... she hasnt complained about the rotten 40 year old camper van so there is hope! That qoute was for the whole year, compared to £650 for my Saab (with mods declared). The one near you is a 2.5 n/a, only 150/60bhp as standard but i'm not really after one for the speed, just love the look
  4. How the heck did you get out of that? Cheers for the photos dude! Thats rather yummy, infact it looks like just what I want Anybody want my 2004 Saab 9-3? £1500 and its yours EDIT: Flux want £165 fully comp (year upfront) for me to be insured on that 944! next cheapest is £400.... hell yes
  5. I think doing the timing chain on my Saab is supposed to be a bit of a whore due to access, but i'm assuming it's the same procedure replacing the chain as it is a belt. Luckily it doesn't rattle so I shall leave it well alone for the moment!
  6. Why not modify some other dampers to fit Pete? I have done a cambelt assisted, and it wasn't that bad but still worried me! I should probably give it a go at some point soon, it's something I need to learn
  7. Why can't you keep it raw? Looks like a nice frame! Welding on a carpet/rug...madness!
  8. I really do need to get round to learning how to do cambelts/chains. I'm scared shitless of doing it wrong
  9. A few weeks ago some little bugger broke a pivot my wiper mechanism (they had pulled up everybodies wipers on the street and yanked too hard on mine it seems), since then another part has sheared so I got round to swapping it all over this morning in some lovely rain. I can now actually see when it's raining! Also fitted a new relay for my glow plugs as I think it has been intermittently working, sometimes the cars starting fine and other times its a slug and runs a bit weirdly suggesting the glows aren't coming on whilst the engine warms up. So far it seems good again.
  10. Ohhhh which model? I'm back in Suffolk in 2 weeks...
  11. I guess a 924/44+ roof rack= practical? Oh decisions...
  12. Cheers for the info Robin I will investigate them further. I have been peeking at cars as it's getting towards the time I should be replacing my 9-3 and I really can't decide what I want/need. Part of me wants to be practical and go big estate (9-5, A6, 5 series) as well as having the comfort benefits and another part of me wants to go for something I actually really like (often less practical) and deal with the consequences of it being useless for anything other than transporting 2 people. I also have the issue of my girlfriend being moany about low cars that are bumpy (My Saab is quite the sore point, as its really quite harsh). A massive part of me just wants to go and get a 9-3 Aero as I really do love the way they look, handle and the interior is just awesomeness compared to other cars that are similar.
  13. I really like both, possibly the 944 a touch more but would be happy with either. I am worried about reliability, but the simplicity means I should be able to fix with minimal tools whilst in Nottingham. Which engine is the best to go for? Not really worried about power, it's just a bonus. What are they like space wise? They have rear seats but I can't see them being much use!
  14. Has anybody got experience with Porsche 924 and 944? Any bad points about them?
  15. If you did want to develop a fork that had multiple heights as an experiment, how about a multi dropout system? That way you could allow for different lengths and different hub axles?
  16. Or just run a single crown with pinch bolts if you are really wanting to do this?
  17. Always been a big fan of Akriggs riding, great to see him back on the bike
  18. Any plans to tidy it up a bit paintwise? Looks really good so far
  19. That explains why your Astra always had a funny aroma...
  20. Do any cars really look that low at the back? Mines just like Buckys, the back end raises up loads compared to the front and sides Mines a bit lower than that now, lovely saggy cheap springs ***
  21. Something is missing out back, i'm assuming you don't want an M3 spoiler on there? I think that may just beef up the back end and make it look more purposeful?
  22. Looks yummy, whats the rear view like?
  23. I had some Samsung smart phone and I found it to be as annoying as you felt in your first post. I then got given an iPhone 4 and can't really see myself going back to anything else, it does everything I need (and more, that I don't ever use but it's nice to have the option). Maybe I feel that way because I didn't pay anything for it but I would certainly be wanting to get another one if this got broken. The whole addictiveness of all the features soon got boring, I just use it for phone calls, texts and emails which it does very well
