  1. on a rear freewheel thats true - the direction it turns would tighten the lockring a front freewheel spins the opposite way so it gets loose.
  2. like the back of a punto you'd never get a python in there
  3. why waste the extra cash? get the 4 bolt echo one from tarty - it doesnt flex at all and i havent had any clearance problems on my t-pro with a big fat creepy-crawler on the back
  4. no, its not. I think I'm one of the unlucky ones though - other people manage a lot better than me with a claw and loctite so definitely try that first. also, coming undone isnt as fatal as it sounds - you just bash the lockring round with an allen key when you get where you're going and you're set for 200 more yards. Also, it doesn't come undone anywhere near as quick if you're actually trialsing - presumably because you don't freewheel as much. The only reasons to go eno are if it skips a lot and you're scared of it or if you think you can justify 80quid on a better feeling through the pedals. I'm hanging out for the tensile freewheel myself - if they ever turn up.
  5. er, about every 200 yards of freewheeling on my bike. im trying araldite next. anyone got any clues as to how much the tensile freewheel will cost?
  6. ... therefore it requires more force to stop it turning, so purely on that basis big rotors would be less good at stopping you. It comfused me for a while but then i twigged that they're better because more disk goes through the caliper per wheel rotation giving you more braking surface for less wheel rotation.
  7. 60 quid's a bit more like it - thats the fancy trials one i take it ? cos they do a cheaper one I've heard nothing about. and they definitely dont come undone as much?
  8. ah, but does the lockring come undone every 200yds like on a claw? ...still not convinced i want to fork out 80quid for a freewheel
  9. im quite pleased with my 05 louise FR. it makes a funny noise about halfway between nothing and lock (apparently i need my mounts facing or something ) but it works great and ive not had to fiddle with it yet (its been a few months). also, (it may be because its new or the way it was set up when i got it) the lever doesnt feel all flappy like other disks if tried out -its got a nice firm feel to it. i dunno how much they cost compared to anything else cos it came with my new bike
  10. they've got a £50 minimum order there :$ i wanted glow in the dark rim tape
  11. you probably want to get used to fixing it yourself - its going to happen virtually every day unless you either glue or weld it.
  12. it's most likely the freewheel - i retighten mine every day and it comes loose about 5 minutes into every ride (if i ever remember to buy superglue i'll glue it). It can make some pretty scary noises and if you're not careful you can lose the odd bearing. however, you will need to tighten your cranks pretty often for the first couple of weeks cos they're cheap and they take time to bed in. you dont really need to take your crank arm off to tighten the lockring - just poke something metal (masonary nails are good) through the frame into the little notch thing on the lockring and hit it with a rock until it stops turning - this is quite handy if you're out and about
  13. if you built some big lumps and half buried pallettes in them you might be onto a winner. im envisaging huge steps cut out of a bank as well .
  14. im sure it wont be the last (Y)
  15. oo oo every hole's a goal (Y)
  16. it took me a few minutes to decipher that but... he might be new to FFW - like me, i knew all about loctiting the lockring on from the forum but didn't know how identify when the freewheel was loose - it made a really loud clicking noise on my bike which wasn't mentioned in any of the posts i saw on the subject. i think JT is suggesting that rather than take the piss you just put something constructive (and heaven forbid - legible) in your posts. kezer - i did exactly what JT said (i used some sort of UHU contact adhesive i found lying around) except that i lifted the freewheel body and spread the bearings everywhere (im sure my BMX one had sealed bearings ) - 48 hours on its still happy....
  17. i think its a great idea michelle , good luck with the hormone treatment and if you ever need an open minded 'special' friend in trials i'm your man :P
  18. im quite looking forward to seeing this in person. maybe you should grow a goatee (Y)
  19. agreed - nice colour. if they're painted this year does that mean theyll be available in several colours - like shit brown or perhaps even girly pink? oo - and if i were to 'accidentally' break my 05 would i get to choose the colour on my replacement?
  20. im having the same trouble with the hopping - im getting better with time though in the meantime, ive been learning to gap sideways from both wheels which is helping a lot with getting more power from a standstill (most of it seems to be in the body rather than the pedal kick bit) its good cos you arent completely left out when everyone else is doing gaps. another thing is the scary looking pedalhop directly into sidehop thing - it looks hard but its actually easier to get than the standard static sidehop if you arent too hot on the back wheel (like me) . if you've not seen it you do a fairly big forward pedalhop and then sidehop directly from the landing- the forward motion kinda helps keep you balanced as you get yourself into sidehop position. i find i flip over the front occasionally but i can get up small stuff pretty much everytime with it. sidehops from both wheels are quite satisfying as well -again theres none of the complicated balancing business. i ride mod though so maybe these things dont work so well on stock - i dunno, dont understand big wheels
  21. er - you'd think even the least observant amongst us would be able to spot the difference between a t-pro and a t-mag. what with them being a completely different shape.
  22. you cant run maggies through a gyro either but then i spose all these new school bmx type dont bother with stuff like that.. - bring back chrome and 4 piece bars i say
  23. only to people who can't get their head around reading it. There'd be bugger all in the way of psychology, religion, mathematics and science in general if it weren't for bearded freaks like pythagoros taking a break from forming funny pseudo religious sex cults, eating some funny herbs and having a nice think on the bog once in a while. I'm not saying they aren't speaking out of their arses half the time but without somebody asking the odd important question you don't get any important answers do you?
  24. ok - ill apply some slightly larger and hairier balls to the situation first (mostly because its cheaper than new cranks) - the crank length thing.... correct me if i'm wrong but this is surely the way it works longer cranks = bigger lever = more output from less input. thus, i can make the wheel turn faster with the same amount of effort because i have more leverage to make it turn.
