  1. but don't use the KY that warms up with friction - it could cause the bearings to expand and lock up. possibly
  2. thats a good way. another way is to do it on a new layer within the same image - if you're really clever you can record the process as an action and then batch process bag loads of images at once. (file > automate etc.etc.) eg. in the example given i'd do the following steps while recording a new action (actions pallette > new action) make a new layer fill it with white select all select > border (about 8px) invert selection clear the middle bit apply a ripple filter (or something) to get the funny edges stop recording your action job done. and now you never have to do it again I've written that from memory based on v7 so apologies if ive got the wrong menus n stuff
  3. I ride because it makes my bum look nice and that means I get extra hugs from the missus. Its also a really good way to get rid of the aggression I build up sitting in front of a PC all day - I was an angry young man till I got back on a bike again.( now I'm just mean to my coworkers and everybody else loves me )
  4. I got a white da bomb school halfway through last year - in fact i've still got it. It rides ok - my t-pro is better for sure but I reckon it was a pretty good bike to start on.
  5. wheel swap.. dont know, cant do that sidehop.. i'm just starting to get them but... try a little pedalhop forward then do the sidehop straight out of that, I find it easier than trying to balance on the backwheel for any length of time and you're already kind of setup from the first bounce.
  6. there's a multi-story right next to the swimming pool that i dont think costs too much. not sure about all day rates there. You're buggered trying to park anywhere unofficial in cambridge though so dont get any clever ideas about that .. the station isnt all that far - 5-10 minutes trials bike ride away, dunno what it costs to park there. . aaand.. as to whether its the only swimming pool in cambridge - no idea(doubt it), but its the only one at the end of mill road, near the police station with an orange skatepark outside it..
  7. yeah right - especially given that high BB frames seem to have anywhere between 50 and 80 mm rise. 30mm is a bloody long way in those circumstances. its probably the same bunch who say you cant tap on a mod - which you can
  8. i can do wheelies on my mod. manuals are hard and im cack so i cant go very far. wheelies are best learnt uphill . you get more distance by trying not to accelerate. i didnt fill in the poll though cos there werent options for being able to do them but badly.
  9. isn't it the t-vee with the v's ? t-pro's are lovely - bloody stock riders dont know what theyre talking about (well, the pedals are wank and they weigh too much but otherwise...) anyway - if the t-bird LE is around the 200quid mark I say go for it. otherwise dont bother - save up for the hs33 t-bird or t-pro
  10. What's the price difference between that and the normal t-bird ? I'd be a little concerned about the HS11's cos rumour has it they're a bit on the cack side and by the time you've forked out a hundred quid for a pair of hs33's and another hundred or so on a new 19" back wheel you might regret going for the cheaper one. pretty colours though.
  11. back to the original question.... you know how you lean into a sideways/90degree static gap? you want to get that sort of thing going on. i tend to roll along about double walking pace, give it a little turn to the right, hang my body left then turn really hard into the hop (front wheel up first while turning, then tuck) . by doing that that I can get round 270 degrees or so before my backwheel touches down so 180 ought to be easy enough. ill try some 180s to fakies tonight now you've inspired me
  12. I'm about after 6-6.30 most days - it depends on orders from the missus - you've got my msn and wing's got my phone number - just give me a beep whenever
  13. It's entirely doable - we've had realistic physics simulation for about 20 years and it's been a viable option in realtime for the last 5. Just cos nobody can be bothered to do it doesn't mean it can't be done. I've been toying with the idea of doing a trials game by modding UT2004 for a while now (it's already got decent vehicle physics & IK). If i were to give it a go there'd be no buggering about with tonyhawk style button mashing. Just realistic bike control - controlling the body with one stick, the bike with the other and having buttons for brakes and pedals. I'll think on it for a while, I've been wanting to do another mod for ages and this might be a good one to have a crack at. Of course i might just decide to do one with tanks instead cos it'll be easier.
  14. I've got a thingy for wearing under a skiing helmet - its like a sort of lycra head condom with a fuzzy liner crossed with a swimming cap, its dead thin and uber warm (even covers your ears) and you dont have to adjust your lid straps like when you wear a beanie
  15. My brief foray into the world of tapping has taught me that higher is easier (up to a point)- if you can backwheel it without much of a runup theres not much point trying to tap it cos you'll just miss. You definitely want to be close to the wall when you lift/pedal and you want to hit it pretty bloody hard.
  16. ... i expect he used a ruler
  17. means bodge for those old enough to remember the tv series- he plays jack o'neill in stargate now... - my favourite is the 2 foot of scaffolding pole to straighten 1pc cranks bodge. would recommend it on 3pc ones though
  18. you left so you could teach me to sidehop 'tis your destiny and so i could flake out everytime i promised to come ride this week.
  19. just curious... why did you take it apart in the first place?
  20. its right up at the town end of mill road, next to the swimming pool. if that helps.
  21. If its going on the back wheel you wont need to weld it. They only come undone if you run FFW. I had one on a bmx for years and years with absolutely no problems at all, it didnt break, skip, come loose or anything - itll be fine.
  22. Ive got squashy 661 knee shin combo jobbies - they're a bit sweaty in summer but cos they cover your whole lower leg i can ride in shorts even in this weather and dont mash my jeans up. they havent failed to protect me yet and they arent too bulky or restrictive (as long as you dont do em up too tight)
  23. this is getting old...again its very simple if you already run FFW... if you have 220 quid lying around get a profile built into a wheel, take your freewheel off and put a 12quid fixed cog on the cranks if you have 85 quid lying around get an eno same EPs , nothing will break if you look afer it.
  24. I've not really ridden ipswich - only a couple of hours at the skatepark last christmas so I've got no idea what there is to ride around town (havent been outdoors in ipswich for about 5 years - safety first (Y) ). That stupid triangular roundabout thing by the odeon with the stepped flowerbeds looks fun & i guess the wolsey could be a laugh for half an hour or so. what else is there?
  25. those ones are 70quid over here - free postage & next day delivery from sideways cycles 45 + 18 = 63 = 7 quid saving for (probably) a week or 2 waiting for delivery im an impatient bugger so i'd rather absorb the cost than wait. Also - if you're gonna fork out 60-70 quid, why not just spend the extra tenner and get the trials one ?
