Kindof, But it is just as important to be able to gap flat, as it is up. and you naturally have to dip your front for decent preload. but yeah, practise both. cant hurt EDIT: also, if he is literally just starting front wheel gaps, then when he dips the front he may hit it pallet if it is too close.
-
agreed, practising on pallets is the way to go with front wheel gaps, start them level or going up slightly. over a bikes lengths so you cant just endo up it. will really help you with technique
-
yay bodge it. itll be fine im sure, get a pic up if you want other opinions?
-
maybe slightly, but if he is going to be using a hacksaw and file i dont really see any problem with it. probably easier to find a small steel block than an aluminium one. i know in my dads garage it is haha
-
Ahh thats unfortunate, could you not modify one to fit?
-
will this not work? link

25 in front, 15-20 in rear depending on temperature, where you are riding and how bouncy you are feeling

here is my baby, proposed plans are some RC34 Forks, clip in pedals of some sort, some decent tubeless tyres LUST i reckon and a dropper post. I cannot wait to get some money! I also plan to strip the frame down entirely and powder coat it white. I also recently designed a replaceable carbon tube version or the santa cruz nomad, considering making that to see how it does, but needs work still. maybe by the end of next year

yeah something like that, but with useful output results, or all done on the same program with the same set up. also, just to clear this up quickly. I wasn't asking tarty to model all their products. What i was asking, was for manufacturers to start having standard forces and constraints, some decent meshes and a reasonably accurate computer analysis. all these companies will have most of their products drawn up in CAD i would have thought, not really too hard to them knock it through FEA. If the trials world wants to do things properly, that is the way to go, so customers have a vague idea of what will be strong enough for them.

It isn't ever going to be exact in a cycle shop obviously. If it is obviously wrong with one set of handlebars, could always try another pair. you could face the bottom of the stem so it sits flat, although I hardly think that that will be important, considering that these stems are CLEARLY built wrong. if it is very very slightly out that is most likely a correct stem with a tolerance. and dave33, not everyone is an engineer, I have no knowledge of where you studied, or what kind of level you are at, but you come across as a massive twat, you are one of those people that makes other people think, oh ffs another engineer, knowitallbastards. Don't tar an entire industry with your twat brush. either buy from tarty and accept the service they provide (excellent in my experience) or dont buy from tarty and f**k off

Does anyone remember a few years ago when Heatsink Steve brought out his 4 bolt booster? I remember FEA software was used to estimate the stresses in the system, why can't we get hold of anything like that for say, these new echo cranks and a pair of trial techs, or try alls, something that has been proven to be good? That way we could have a direct comparison under the same loadings, its the only fair way I can see this working, especially as the correct mechanical properties can be applied, and the designs can be taken directly from CAD. Or if tarty or someone who owns these cranks could draw up some dimensions and gives us an accurate material, could be done at home...

Brumotti new video release: Brumotti relax in USA.

didn't like it at all, barely any riding. still a very cool guy though -
you sure you didn't lace it up with the spokes on the wrong sides?
-
no, should have listened to what everyone was telling you and tried it on before you bought it.

very nice joe, cant believe you havent exhausted all the lines at barrow by now!

different companies work from different ergonomic data, i.e. a 57cm helmet from met is not the same shape as a 57cm helmet from giro etc. go to a shop, try a few on, find a brand that fits well, then order it online for half the price. trust me, worth it

Retro-direct gearing, pedal backwards to go forward, and forward to go

pure awesome -
fair enough, riding looked really hard. think ill stick to the sunshine
-
good effort, but i think the reason he found it so hard was his horrible music choice

Hello, I am attempting to insert a video into a power point at the moment, did it once before with no problems for another project. this video when inserted just makes power point think forever, and never actually does anything and eventually stops responding. The files are in the same folder, also tried with both on the desktop, the video is .wmv which is power point's most compatible video format. any ideas? windows 7 ultimate, 32bit, 3gb ram It is an assembly from Autodesk inventor, so the file is about 1.5Mb is this the issue? too high res? EDIT: found the problem, movie maker thinks the file is corrupt. mother f**kerrrrrrrr

trials bikes tend to have longer reach and wheel base than dj bikes, but as said a high bar and stem combo should help massively. i know on my mates NS all you need to do is lean back and the front wheel picks up, i've found that trials bikes need more force to get them up to the balance point.

get the super cheap continental mountain kings, not the best, but at 15 quid each they are excellent
