  1. whip to whip back, bit special!!
  2. i used one of my dads ge greasers which he said left no residue. maybe i will have to put i grind on it then, hmm not too confident about it though, have to practice on a old wheel first just noticed that master cylinder istn coming out properly, its lubed and cleaned, its omces out several times and retracts as normal and then just stays out, dont think this would help but i think the main problem is the pads...?
  3. hmmmm could do i spose, that or a grind, but thats really a last chance thing, would prefer to keep the old rim smooth, but hey maybe thats me. anyone else have any ideas?
  4. nope completely clean rim before and after, that whats confusing me?!!! i'm a fair weather rider, mainly because i can't get the damn brake to work for more than 5 minutes!
  5. very very nice, was thinking of getting one myself in white. does look rahter sexy. put a fatter rear tyre in there if anything it'll balance out the fact the rear triangle on that frame is pretty damn big! craig
  6. right ok, i'm running heatsink blues, on a maggy with evo adapters on a d521 rim. clean everything up rim, pads etc. pistons lubed and movin fine. but after about 2 minuts of the brake bein set up pretty damn well and screamin like a banshee it goes all quiet and the grab and the bite go. i take the pads out and there covered in blacl/silver dust. surely this cant be rim dust as i cleaned it all down and its only literally 2 minutes after that it stops workin. the brake works amazin whilst its screeching but as soon as it stops the brakes a great big pile of poo help!! is there anything that im probably doing wrong, should the pads be covered in this dust after such a short period? cheers craig
  7. if you get a decent raptor drive they can be a lot quicker for startup and loading big apps, but very exspensive. i guess your after a standard ide/pata drive? western digi drives or samsugns are pretty damn good, get one with the biggest buffer and lowest seek time you can afford. shouldnt go too far wrong craig
  8. try it from a 180 endo, roll at just over jogging speed, 180 endo, as you feel the freewheel kick in pedal slowly backwars, you want to pedal no faster than the actual chain moves, basically to stop the hub engaging, as you feel your speed going calmy turn the bars to 90 degrees and lean into the turna nd you should end up facing the right way thats the way i learned trying to learn off of 180 drops now, thats har dot keep the momentum!! hope this helps craig
  9. your project doesnt have to be a completely original idea if you think that it can be further improved on or you have an alternative solution, its good to be able to compare your design to the original, especially if you can get some form of quantitative data to compare with your own designs. you might want to build a frame but is there anything else with the products in the sport that bugs you. i wanted to build a frame but ended up making a bike trailer from the rear end of a mini for my mini. craig
  10. maybe i should go back to a lighter gear, i dunno. will check out sideways cycles. what are the acs freewheels like, do they need welding or anything like that? yeah i can only static about 6 feet, not great at gaps or ups any ways!! does it really make that bigger diffference? craig
  11. last week at ocean fest in croyde, me and my mates walkin on beach beers in hand, budle of wood in tow thing of parafin walks up to cops at entrance to beach cop a: alrite lads whats that then? chris:parafin for a fire cop a to cop b: is there anything on there about fires on the beach(referring to a do and dont do sign at entrance) cop b: yeah not fires allowed in reply to this cop a says with straight face: had some last week who mixed there wine with parafin to see if it did ne thing, we had to split them up from killin the one who suggested it because it didnt taste good. cop b: any ways lads have a good night. what the foook was that about, basically set fire to everything and anything but dont under any circumstances drink the parafin you have been warned!! craig
  12. dunno just like a harder gear i guess keep movin to harder and harder gears since i started. started on 22-18 the 22-17 and now 22-15 and it feels about right dunno mebs ive got fat legs or summat?!! where can i get a 36 ep eno because once agian i can only find the 72 ep version cheers

  15. its allright dude, told you they were pretty damn good. craig
  16. could go single speed as i only really ever use one gear. run 22-15 at the mo. hmmm could be a plan, would stop me having to worry about broken mech hangers all the time. i'm running a smooth rim at the mo with heatsink blues which seems ok, how well does a dx32 hold grind? think i'll get tarty to do it if i get a wheel from them. cheers for your help
  17. only because it was what came standard on the bike!! couldnt be arsed to buy new wheels until they broke!! havent really known anything better, well apart from my atomlabs on my jump bike and the bulbs i had on my dh bike, but not quite the same as trials. is a hope pro2 really worth it or would i be ok with a mono/xc? cheers
  18. try herts insurance company, they do the mini world insurance and they advertise in golf+, were pretty cheap on my mini which i had all the mods declared on, but they wouldnt insure me on my mk2 gti, seemed a bit harsh am 20 with 3 years no claims. so i went to a purely online company called ecarinsurance, well cheap 575 thrid party with the alloys declared, next cheapest was abot 750!! try em well good. hope this helps craig
  19. i think its on its last legs free hub wise any ways, it wobbles and its starting to skip like a bee hatch! bit scary really.kinda perfected the art of bailng over the back on awkward objects!! cheers
  20. right ok over the last 6 months ive had a really basic wheelset, on my bike just a set of what i think are deores on d521 and in the last week ive noticed some play in it. now ive tightened the cones and checked all the bearings and races and theyre fine, so im thinkin the play must be in the freewheel body itself. are these replaceable or am i better off buyin a new hub/wheel? if so whats the best value for money hub/rear wheel to fit a stock, oh and i dont want a hugely wide rim, because its got to fit in a saracen mad and not it hasnt cracked yet cheers for you help craig
  21. good choice on the a3 ive just made the move from my mini to a mk2 golf gti on 15" borbet b rims. needs a drop but dunno how much, might go for a conservative 35mm, suggestions? jetta front end or twin light debadge grill? oh na dif you say twin lamp what lights do i replace the originals with as i want to improve on the 4 lamps from the mini im used to!!! will get pics when shes ready for it! craig
  22. currently gears, but singlespeed soon, sick of busting mech hangers. could learn to side hope both ways properly but tis just too much effort plus i only use one gear 22-17? it think craig
  23. i dont tend to like music or bands but generally songs. if someone puts out a good song then i mite like it but it doesnt mean i want to buy the album!! if some one manages to put a fews songs that hit the right note then yeah i mite buy it, but it doesnt mean i'll buy the next one!! me i listen to any one from lagwagon to jack johnson to avengesevenfold to dj shadow to roots manuva to lostprophets and incubus. it doesnt matter if its 40 30 20 1 years old if it s good its good like music not bands not people in my opinion you'll enjoy it more hey dont slate me if you think im wrong!!
